>get Scholar of the First Sin on offer on the PS4. >Never played SoFS before. >Go to Heide's Tower of Flame. >Heide Knights everywhere. >Kill Dragonslayer. >Heide Knights wake up and become aggressive. >Fuq. >Go towards cathedral constantly dodging hyper-aggressive Heide Knights and powerful Old Knights. >There's a fucking dragon blocking the bridge.
I see SoFS really wants me to get gud, but I have to ask myself... Why make these changes?
They made a pretty cool area irritating. The Heide Knights and their awakening after the Dragonslayer is an especially annoying and dangerous touch. So early in the game I barely have any estus at all and trying to work my way through all the enemies, then a dragon and then getting to the Cathedral and beating the Old Dragonslayer with just those estus charges means there is absolutely zero room for error at all.
Not trying to bitch, just wanting to discuss game design. I'm of the opinion they wanted to buff up the difficulty of Heide's Tower but went overboard.
Anyone have any tips on getting through the area and beating Old Dragonslayer in SoFS? On the old version it wouldn't have been much of a problem, but now it's fucking me over.
The dragon doesn't respawn, so once it's dead the only problematic enemy in that area is the spear knight.
Jaxon Edwards
Heide Knights are a joke if you can parry their attacks, and that area is really nice to practice considering where the bonfires are. Old Knights are easy too, just keep your distance and strafe. Oh and if you think they went overboard with Heide's Tower just wait until you get to No-Man's Wharf
John Diaz
Use the stone ring for those knights, you will be able to stagger them easily
Wyatt Perry
Is SoFS any good? I played DS2 when it came out and found it very easy compared to 1 but apparently SoFS makes the game more challenging but in a "bad" way. Did they just place more enemies everywhere or did they change the HP and damage too?
Kevin Morgan
I only played scholar. What is the difference?
Andrew Williams
So far it just feels like they placed more enemies everywhere.
Jack Edwards
I always cheese the drake with arrows. Not sure what else I'm supposed to do.
Isaiah Gomez
SoTFS doesn't allow you to run through a lot of the areas since enemies tend to be placed near the fog gate in such a way that you can't just rush through the zone.
Smelter and Dragon Slayer both spring to mind

yes, many come back later skill ranged attacks to be able to pull one by one use weapons with longer reach memorize every single timing here is a simple walktrough aggro the big dude to bonfire and kill him there or rush him, rush knight right from the bf, optionally kill knight left from the bonfire if he aggros kill dude with mace, ignore dude with shield guarding the lever rush dude with big sword hes h p pool is low rush right sword dude left one will deaggro kill left dude rush to the dude with sword hit him once he will be locked into animation while heide knight will follow you, run away far kill heide knight finish off dude with sword go upstairs use shield to block heides spear and backstab him. go upstairs just before reaching the last stairs refill your stamina nd rush to the dragon stay right it will look like you wont make it but hes attack comes out slow you can do it with starting amount of stamina just stick to his legs drake is a joke after that you can rush through the whole area without fighhting anyone ezpz
Oliver Thompson
You need to rush him while he's sleeping and just hug his legs, he's stupidly easy assuming you don't wake him up when approaching.
Justin Gonzalez
Rush him, it's trivial once you're between his feet
Two rapiers, you mean. Those things are made of cardboard

basically this
Jason Howard
and Iron Keep

I've beaten the souls series except this wack edition. It's not fun when every room is an ambush that has you running away to find room to fight, which is what it becomes.
Brody Kelly
Pretty good

Go to forest of fallen Giants and come back later.

The original version is better than SOTFS sadly.
Even though that original version is still shit.
Jaxson Foster
There is still some rng at play and some conditions should be met like having an at least +3 weapon and two handing it to make the dps checks + some deaggroing may not work like the left sword and shield dude not deaggroing but overall it should suffice if you adamant on not using ranged and doing it low level
Angel Baker
The addition of the dragon is the strangest fucking thing to me, it seems to be pure luck whether you can run over it without being instantly killed by it's flames, it also makes (((old dragonslayer))) look like a cuck.
Kayden King
So, no boss changes at all? That's what bothered me the most about 2. Most of them were far too easy or used too many attacks that were easily blockable/dodgeable, atleast thats what i remember.
Lincoln Carter
>hey guys what does iron keep need >MORE ALONNE KNIGHTS
Ayden Scott
Holy fuck, what happened to Sup Forums? Seriously I'm just a shitter with a gruesome death count on every run but you pussies need to get good. Area is fine as is: heide knights - parry shielded old knights - circle 2h old knights - circle without lock-on and stop crying like basic bitches.
One of the easiest areas in the game.
Landon Phillips
Wrong, spear heide knight alone is one of the strongest mob enemies in the entire game, doesnt help it when facing him low level since he just rapes your stamina when blocking if you arent cheesing him at the stairs and backstabbing him. Long reach weapons are scarce at that point and magick/miracles pathetic. But yes, Sup Forums isnt as hardcore as Sup Forums likes to pretend
Eli Rivera
>defending the heide knights I don't know what the fuck is wrong with them, I feel like they might be buggy due to 60 fps for some reason because I don't remember them being like this in the original game. They constantly just stand there completely still for like 10 seconds and then just suddenly snap into their sword splitting you open for 1 million damage and sometimes they damage me before they even do the animation.
This ones I hate with a passion everything else it's kinda ok
Christian Harris
Nomans can be skipped, even easier with an torch lost bastille is trash but can be entirely skipped and even gives you a +6 weapon just after 2 bossdights iron keep is balls to the wall retarded and one of the most difficlut areas in vanilla if not the most difficult next to amana gutter is skipped in less than 30 seconds and holds absolutely nothing of worth black gulch demands an item which you find at the start of the area, can be completely skipped and the phantoms cheesed undead crypt has only one shitty scenario an you know which one i mean the most difficult area in whole souls series is in the dlc, fighting that lava puking faggot and 4 smaller ones with axes and swords now that was pure sadism
Nathaniel Garcia
Read wiki article on them. They are easy to deal with, just practice. The charge attack is very predictable - as you said, they stand still for seconds - if you see that, just get some distance and roll. Keep shield up when you are close to block the quick left-right sweep, it doesn't drain too much stamina. Deal damage by parrying their slow attack.
You're right, I forgot about that one guy, but still, it's DS, let's be honest - getting your ass kicked is a part of the game.
Ryder Garcia
I kind of want to play it again to go through the DLC one more time. What's a fun weapon type? I've never done a hex build.
I also think I'm shadowbanned so capping my level is pointless, even though capping your level in the first place was schmuck bait since nobody followed it.
Xavier Martin
> getting your ass kicked is a part of the game no question, thats one of the reasons i prefer ds2 to all other souls games, it actually forces me to git gud even after 700 hours
Thomas Turner
Do a grand lance build
Logan Brown
sure you can skip some of them but my first experience was just pure agony
Isaac Gray
Is there a video somewhere of all the changes SotFS made? I've only played that but am interested in what exactly has changed
