I agree that Jojo has had a massive influence on Japanese media, but I do think the fanbase gets a little zealous with what they classify as a direct Jojo ripoff.

Like the whole thing over Mon franchises being Jojo ripoffs. It'll get to the point that people will claim that any strategic battle that involves single willful figures getting something to fight for them will be a Jojo reference.

I want to call you wrong because Joseph mentions in Part 3 that the Joestars only got their stands when Dio got his, but now that I think about it I vaguely recall Araki mentioning Purple Hermit was wrapped around Joseph since the beginning.

He didn't always have a stand. It only awakened in Part 3 because DIO awakened his stand in Jonathan Joestar's body. It's explained in early Part 3 that there's some kind of vague bond between Jonathan's body and its descendants.

Then again, early Part 3 is pretty vague about the general rules about stands so I guess you could argue that Joseph always had the stand.
