honestly i can't give less shits about people saying that a 2 hour video changed their whole perspective on the game. the first time i played it from beginning to end i was blown away on how fun it was. it's definitely in my top 3 favorite videogames

Also it's not the best movement mechanics because the balancing is trash. Doing the whole cappy throw air maneuver is ALWAYS your best option in platforming situations and most of it's best applications are just skipping content. So your moveset ends up falling into disuse while you use the same move endlessly to skip every single bit of actual platforming in the game.

I had a lot of fun playing through it and collected nearly 600 moons. I never stopped having fun until I felt I'd had enough and stopped playing. It was my 2nd favorite game of 2017 (after Nier Automata).

Odyssey was not perfect but I feel comfortable giving it a 9/10. It's the best Mario since 64, but I don't think it surpasses 64. They're on about the same level imo.

How is 3? The first one is my favorite game of all time, but never managed to play 3. Never even saw an Xbox huge, nor knew anyone who had one back in the day.

For me, the mushroom kingdom castle level took odyssey beyond 64. Up till that point, I was like "oh this is fun it's like when 64 came out," but the joy of actually riding yoshi around and exploring the castle grounds made me admit to myself that I like odyssey more.
