Should i buy the remaster of this? I played it a ton as a kid and it's 50% off at the moment on Steam

Should i buy the remaster of this? I played it a ton as a kid and it's 50% off at the moment on Steam.

No, the studio that made the games is no more. Some furry tumblr shitter got the rights somehow and made that crap in his furry vision of it.

Just pirate it.

thanks

i will just pirate it or play the original on emulator, u just saved me 10 bucks

No need to emulate. You can switch to the old version in the remaster.

Also the music is pretty good 2bh.

>please tell me my opinion Sup Forums
>DONT BUY IT BECAUSE BUZZWORDS
>ok thanks I will now pirate it

the absolute state of Sup Forums

I don't really understand the problem here. The studio died, where is my money going? The publisher? In their dreams it might.

Yeah, or i could just emulate.

Sega is still behind this. Ryuichi Nishizawa was also consulted during the creation of the remaster.

Forgot to add that Switch and PS4 are getting physical versions this month if that is your thing.

OP here, wait a minute.

I don't give 2 shits if the original studio died. God damn nigger. The original game is like 30 years old.

I'm too drunk for this shit. I thought you mean someone cucked the remake devs. Why even bring up this shit with your furry bullshit? Like i care if he's a furry. Kill yourself.

Might buy it i dunno, whatever.

The people from Westone who created the original game lasted for 20+ years and most of those people still work at Sega. They were consulted for the damn remake, for fuck's sake.

The studio who developed the remake is still active and did spectacular work, there's no reason not to support them if you actually give a shit about supporting developers and passion projects.

t.furry

I do give a shit and will probably buy it, don't worry, i'm just a massive retard with post reading issues.

Get it from gog fuck steam or just pirate it
In fact just play the original

only thing i dont like when i've watched people play this is some of the secrets look so cryptic you literally need to have a guide or just run/fly holding up everywhere hoping to find doors and i dont like that shit

The art is great and it retains the gameplay of the original.
There is no reason not to support it.

>"remaster"

How can a game that was originally released in fucking 1989 be the best game of 2017?

bought it, i'll see how it plays in a couple of days when i'm not hungover or working

Nice conveniently worded misinformation.

Don't worry about it.
If you loved Dragon's Curse/Dragon's Trap as a kid, the remake is nice. It's just a visual facelift, but it's a damn nice one. Real pretty stuff.

Like says, getting it on GoG is preferable if you're trying to tell the devs/Sega you want more, since it does't take as big of a cut from your purchase. Also, Sega greenlit a new Wonder Boy/Monster World game by a different dev that's coming out this year. Not quite as pretty, but interesting. They're calling it "Monster Boy." It draws mostly from Dragon's Trap and MW4.

>The art is great
LOL

>plays an rpg
>chooses male so he can stare at a manbutt

no idea why you brought this up but okay

I loved the remaster, good game

>Optional sprite swap in series that's had male and female protagonists
Go cry somewhere else.

It wasn't anywhere near that, but it's a strong little remake. Up there with Odin Sphere for me. More remakes should include the original.

It's no Cuphead, but it's pretty nice 2D. I don't care for the UI, but the actual character and enemy sprites look great.

>side-scroller game
>man butt

and if it was a remaster they wouldn't be adding in new characters and other things that weren't in the original.

>It wasn't anywhere near that

Opinions, my man, I don't know what else to tell you.

Sure, if you're into furry shit and tumblr """art""".

>If it was a remaster they wouldn't be adding in new characters and other things that weren't in the original

REmake, Odin Sphere, Muramasa, multiple Persona games, almost every single FF remaster/remake ever, EVERY Dragon Quest re-release, Konami's REBIRTH line, etc.

>argument is buzzwords
>can't even explain why he thinks it's shit
{You}

real talk can the guy who keeps saying "furry" please leave

Go back to tumblr or whatever shithole you came from.

He gave you every reason as to why you're wrong and you chicken out like this. Pathetic

Shame there aren't more Cheevos.

Like even just beating the game on hard mode again with wondergirl. Or doing it with no switching so 8 bit only and remaster only. Game only has 13 cheevos. I dont care what you say, i love cheevos and 13 for a 'metroidvania' is a bit eh. I need goals and probably won't speedrun it.

I'm still blown away by how they managed to include retro/remake mode switching on the fly.

Got it yesterday, I'm having fun with it so far.

I think it's worth a buy on sale. It plays the exact same as the original and you can even play with the original graphics and music if you like. One of the if not the best SMS game.

It's a top tier remake. The new graphics are beautiful, there's a bit of new content, and everything can be played in original graphics and sound of you like. Passwords from the original work in the remake as well, which I love for some reason.

This is a key example of a game that DOESN'T need a gender option shoehorned in.

It makes sense to have a gender option in a game where you play a player-created avatar. In a game like this, where you play as a fixed set in stone character, a gender option is not only unneccesary, but might actually be harming the cause of gender equality, as it implies you can't relate to a character of the opposite gender (but you can still relate to them if they're different from you in various other ways).
