Shadow of the Colossus is pretty overrated in my opinion. It was nice to look at, but it was an empty desert with just the colossi and the only gameplay was climbing to the weak spot to stab it.

The DS became really popular with middle aged ladies here, I guess because they read an article about Dr Kawashima's Brain Training and thought it could stop them from becoming any more retarded. They still seem to be 90% of the DS-playing market round my parts. This is my guess as to why we shat out so much DS trash over the past decade.

Nintendo wanted to make the DS into a lifestyle companion device before smartphones came into existence. They actually had a lot of success with stuff like Brain Age and the cooking guides and stuff.
