It's a double edge sword since there's no one to buy off timed shit or exclusives like sony and ms do aka with destiny 1. But at the same time no paid online and emulation of stuff as well as access to a ton more games and the ability to use it beyond gaming since all consoles can run is games and the usual mobile apps. No reason to since they don't control the ecosystem. Only reason ms, nintendo and sony do it is because they 100% control the market of people who buy games on their drm hardware. On pc you have several like steam, gog, battlenet etc. There's no reason to do exclusives for pc only because you gain nothing.

Yea but in 2007 the xbox effectively replaced pc for a short while since the price to performance ratio was insane at 400 dollars. If MS did not drop the ball, things might be different. I will admit steam was a big part. I mean they don't require you buy directly from their store and devs can sell cd keys much cheaper which is why you have places like cdkeys.com selling new releases at near 30 dollars. And the fact that you can easily output games on steam makes games like PUBG happen much quicker than it would on consoles. I honestly wouldn't buy a console anymore after I switched from my 360. The only retarded thing I see is valve/gabe not pushing games as well but I can't blame them with steam doing all that work. At this point even MS releases more pc stuff than they do like forza and gears.

Sort of not blaming them is something that I can't do. It leads to stagnation. At this point it's people that makes games like PUBG that lead the way. Which is dumb because you don't see companies like microsoft/nintendo/ and sony stop making games just because they are on top. If they are too lazy to make games, they can easily fund a few studios that will. Microsoft has been picking up the slack since I did come from a 360 so I greatly enjoy their games like fh3 and age of empires 4 is coming too. However, their fuck up was by chance charging 500 bucks for a kinect machine weaker than the ps4 when it was apparent building a stronger pc was cheaper.

Why would they? Unlike sony, nintendo and ms they aren't dependent on having a closed box piece of hardware to sell new games every few years since it all runs on 1 os across different combinations of hardware.

Basically you have tons of independent studios build games like minecraft, pubg, blizzard, for pc and then all those users will have to go through steam to get the majority of their games. There's no need to fund anything since only people here blow up the importance of it. And even then you still have quite a few titles only on pc not made by valve and some older ones that have tons of players that are made by them.

Honestly, at this point I'd prefer if he did. It's not like Valve does shit anymore and then we'd at least get Halo 3 on Steam finally.

Why? MS tried paid online with GWFL and effectively tried killing pc gaming twice. The first was by getting every pc studio to make games for their xbox and shutting down the good ones. The second was the 360 which sort of was by chance since pc parts were far more expensive at the time. I mean they do stuff like BC on xbox but there is no reason to trust them over valve. The only good thing about MS is them putting games on win 10 which is fine with me since I prefer to keep it like that. I'll give them money and they give a few titles but no more than that. I wouldn't want them over steam.
