Thanks mane, I'd focus a lot on small changes throughout a song. Evolving synths and tons of automation on effects like distortion, cutoff, reverb, etc. Sound effects too help a ton with space and ambient. The way I master and mix is super wide and loud. Hi-fi retards on /prod/ hate me because I distort and push the compression and leveler till it's one big block of sound.
