00 season 1 is nice my friend. i don't like those either, outside of 08th ms team which i never watched. 00 season 2 has a few good moments, though it's not as entertaining as season 1

seed and destiny are enjoyable too, just skip the recap episodes. but make sure to prepare for a wild ride for seed destiny after episode 12 or 13

ZZ Gundam is one that gets shit. ZZ is actually great if you love 80s cheese. It got hate for being more light hearted than 0079 and Zeta, but really it's just misunderstood. It's pleb filter if you will.

I expect it to be mostly similar to V with a different cast, but I can't help but support SRW in english. Things like the return of Mazinkaiser and finally seeing G-Reco make me excited though.
Also, watched Buddy Complex in preparation, it was okay. Hina a cute.

Fuck this game was so good. Look at how fucking compact the credits were. A handful of people made a very playable novel fighting game in an era of MK and SF clones.

The girls are all 100% fucking top tier, the mobile suit designs are all 10/10s, even the animation was top notch in an era when the genre was starting the transition to cancerous CG mecha. Even if I hate the actual plot I can't hate 00 because I still get a giant boner from watching it.

Real talk here, SEED was decent and Freedom looks great.

The only good Gundam anime is 0080, mostly because it's pretty short and does one thing, but does it well. Everything else is at best enjoyable despite severe flaws.

All the Tomino shows suffer from being directed by a terrible fucking director. Zeta is probably my favorite but it has that terrible mid-point lull where it feels like there are 20 episodes in a row with the Argama going nowhere in particular until Katz decides to do something retarded, which results in a laser spam fight that ends as soon as Jerid's mobile suit loses an arm. Rosamy is a fucking travesty of a character and should not exist, and while I've come to enjoy the ending for how over the top depressive it is, it's still incredibly hamfisted and forced. 0079 straight up feels like it has entire episodes missing, which it probably does since it was cut short. This is especially bad since it also wastes like 20 episodes with desert adventures. But basically all of the Tomino shows suffer from shit pacing, bad direction, etc. although for whatever reason he's also capable of making legitimately amazing stuff (the first 20-ish episodes of Zeta are the absolute peak of Gundam IMO).

0083 looks great but it has Nina, so fuck that. 08th MS Team had a great premise but I think the original director died or something and it ended up going to shit. G Gundam is an absolute meme, Wing was when Sunrise officially said fuck it and gave up on quality, X is not offensively bad but that's probably the best thing I can say about it, Seed is a retread of 0079 except somehow worse, Destiny is Destiny, Age is Age, 00 honestly had a promising season 1 but went to complete shit in season 2, Unicorn isn't bad but it's just fanservice UC porn, IBO is just kinda shit, etc.

I love the franchise but honestly, other than 0080 there isn't a single Gundam show that I remember watching and thinking "wow, that was some good anime that I just watched". I just stick to it because it's Gundam.

listen to this guy Watch the main UC timeline stuff first (0079 compilation movies, Zeta, ZZ, 0080, 0083, 08th MS team) and then pick whatever looks cool because the rest are alternative universe stuff. Save Turn A for until you've seen all the UC stuff and a few AU shows

That's bullshit. I loved 0079, I loved Zeta, I loved Turn-A. I couldn't enjoy G-Reco at all, no matter how much I tried.

I'll also add that at the end of this you should watch CCA, F91 and the Thunderbolt movies. I know a lot of /m/en actually hate Thunderbolt but I think that mostly stems from the inconsistencies it brings to other UC entries. This is nowhere near as egregious as the reconning and shear stupidity Unicorn brings to UC

G-reco is adored over on /m/. I think it was good and had Tomino which was nice but it has some of my least favorite designs. Turn-A is the superior show that strays from the traditional Gundam mechanical designs.

G-Reco is overall fine but suffers from pacing problems throughout, but the pacing goes fucking nuts in the last two episodes as things end real fucking quick, not with a bang but a whisper. I'd give it a 6/10 if you're willing to rewatch some episodes while going through it
If you like them check out High and Mighty Color, they did the opening "Pride" and were pretty solid all throughout their time together.
