My gaming pc on life support. am I doing it right?
Nothing wrong with that
You can easily get away with a 1070 with no bottle neck, maybe a 1080
I sure hope you can overclock, but it's not that bad. At least you're not a RAMlet
what's a good one that won't break the bank? I heard they're really expensive right now.
Neither. Only way to get one for a reasonable price is steal one.
24GB of ram, nigga wtf, just keep the 2x8GB in dual channel and remove the excess, it will improve performace
>less ram is better
pls explain
You wouldn't even notice the difference, anyway.
Unless you use photoshop/lightroom/etc and make use of absurd amounts of RAM having way more than you need often causes the memory controller to allocate stuff to places it really shouldn't and overall performance is affected.
Not sure how detrimental this is on 'only' 24GB, but setups using 64GB and 128GB show atrocious results
Ram runs best in dual channel, for which you need 2 sticks of the same model, speed, latency.. etc
Combining 2x4GB with 2x8GB makes them all run at the lowest speed and in single channel I believe.
Remove the extra cause you don't need more than 16GB anyways, also enable XMP, and run them at their max speed.
>also enable XMP, and run them at their max speed.
can an user walk me through this? I'm a brainlet
>2600
>2018
>no 4k monitor
>no 144fps
>sub budget tier vga
Just trow that crap on the trash and get a console you dirty poorfag
What about a matched quad of 64gb?
Pretty sure that's okay depending on mobo and dual channel in the slots
Just google it, it's usually one setting in the bios to run, it but your ram needs to support it.
Otherwise download CPUZ and look up the max JEDEC speed
ugh..
nigger, there's nothing wrong with that build at all
you're doing good
I got all my RAM back when I did my build in 2016 because I wasn't a poorfag or a waitfag feels gud.
Better than mine
This is wrong though
the ram does NOT need to be the same model or brand or even the same chip manufacturer, only the same frequency
also most modern motherboards have integrated flex mode, which means even a 3 stick config can still run with dual channel if applicable to 2 of the 3 sticks
>8GB
>AMD
>3.5GB GPU
I'm sorry, user.
Lucky,I waited for coffee lake, to get a i5-8400 with at least 3000Mhz ram, high speed modules cost a fucking fortune now tough
I didn't need that overpriced crap, i'm smart with my money!
bought a new monitor. Surprisingly the card can run some newer games over 60fps.
>the ram does NOT need to be the same model or brand or even the same chip manufacturer, only the same frequency
While true in most cases, I had a different experience
Had 2 separate sets of ram each 2x4GB, same fucking model, but different production year, and if you mixed up the paired sticks my system wouldn't boot.
bought a new monitor. Surprisingly the card can run some newer games over 60fps @ native res.
Fuck I just did this and now my pc wont even boot. Wat do?
Should reset automatically after failed overclock, if it doesn't clear the CMOS.
XMP rarely causes issues, you probably didn't place your ram in the respective slots, 2 of the same color should be populated
Set it back to default. XMP failed because you probably mixed and matched rams. XMP profiles only work on the ram they're defined for and in the quantity. I bought four of the same modules, the profile worked on two sticks but not on four
Your motherboard is depressed and needs therapy.
>3.5gb GPU
still mad
