A dead battery.
objectively the best 2d zelda
Great game.
I dont think there's much to be said.
Meet the princess, collect three things to get the master sword to save the princess, find out your too late, travel to parallel world to collect 7 things to save the princess.
Basically the Zelda game that truly set the standard for future Zelda games. Which is why it’s the best Zelda game.
Pure adventure, no bullshit.
a better game than BOTW
Dissappintment. Highly overrated
A magical adventure.
Good thing you should be able to finish it in 1 hour and thirty minutes if you aren't mentally impaired.
it sucks
A quality and complete game. The story is simple and the gameplay is solid. There’s no filler here, just pure game. What you see is what you get, so if you aren’t enjoying the game 3-4 hours in, then it’s probably just not for you.
Come on. Going in completely blind, the game can take you a decent while to beat.
Even an expert at the game would probably need a good 10 hours to complete it unless it’s an attempt at speed running.
Get into the randomizer community, its actually pretty big and the randomizer is extremely well made, making sure every single seed is possible to do.
Awful art.
Shit OST.
Good gameplay.
I did it. I beat the game.
Not yet
you’re in for a thread full of contrarians when posting any good video game on Sup Forums
as for the game, expect a masterpiece
soy-free zelda
Some laughs, some tears, some sweat, some comfy, and that "old adventure game" feel. It holds up remarkably well for its age.
this but unironically
>Not being able to fix that shit
Literally one of the most basic repairs there is. A crappy $15 soldering iron can do it.
>shit OST
Dark World, Dark Mountain, and Ganon theme are some of the best in the series. Their compositions are incredible.
That being said, it could have used unique dungeon themes and the tracks could have been longer as well.
I do agree that the classic zelda top down impossible perspective looks atrocious, though.
Fantastic adventure in a world chock-full of secrets. Don't look anything up and try to find out everything.
Alright, now I've beaten the game
naw nigga
You still have 9 dungeons to go, buddy. 10 if you want to count Hyrule Castle tower.
it's good but a link between worlds is better in every measurable way as long as you take your nostalgia goggles off
Dont the best non reset speed runs go on about an hour and a half?
Id give some GOOD at these type of games with a guide at least 3 hours on his first playthrough even if hes running.
>classic zelda top down impossible perspective looks atrocious
wew lad.
The perspective of Zelda I, III, and the portable games is ugly and jarring.
Legitimately the best Zelda
This boss is incredibly aggravating. I don't know what to do. I've already died twice.
Don't forget to dick around and explore. The hidden items in this game aren't some collectable sidequest shit.
If you're judging by just how Zelda a game can be, LttP has everything else beat. But as a game rather than a franchise defining tentpole, Link's Awakening is better.
Art's not good, but it's serviceable. I've seen uglier games.
>Perspective of Zelda I
Do you know what perspective that is? Of course not, and neither did the people making this game.
Hold your sword out with your back to the pits. Make sure you hold in the opposite direction if he charges at you.
Spin attack his tail for double damage, he'll go down in like 3 hits.
Don’t spam attacks all the time, be careful and spam only when you are about to beat him
you have to run in the opposite direction you're being thrown to.
...
Either hide behind the eye and play very conservatively, or go full aggro strats with spin attacks.
Both work about equally well. I prefer the aggro strats version; less time for something to go wrong in a shorter fight.
I did it, thank you
Go back to Link's Awakening, face.
>letting your rupees max out
A good fucking time.
Use your rupees to buy the Flippers, go to the upper-right-most part of Hyrule (but not Death Mountain), east of the Witch's Hut, and north into Zora's Falls. They cost 500 rupees but you need them for the Swamp Dungeon and other stuff.
hype ass mussiiiiiiiiiiicccccc
youtube.com
hype enough anyway
Best zelda of all time
>you will never hear the Hyrule Castle theme for the first time after your only Zelda experience being Zelda 1 ever again.
Blew my fucking mind as a kid.
who /rando/ here
Here.
I used to run once a day or so, but haven't in a while. Got my average time down to below 2 hours recently.
I really miss back when people just posting screenshots as they played the game with all the discussion happening was more common. Hope you are enjoying the game op
I've been getting into it hard lately. 2:09:44 is my personal best on Ganon mode.
Bad post
Why? Because you're unable to play videogames well? Sorry that's not how it works.
this game FUCKING KICKS ASS it is the BEST ZELDA GAME and if you disagree then I dunno man
I don't see how anyone could play LTTP and then BOTW and prefer the latter, unless you're some namby bitchboy that likes walking simulators
Should you emulate the SNES version or the GBA version? Or does it not matter? I've been meaning to play LttP.
I don't know about LTTP particularly but all the SNES ports I've played on GBA have really ugly washed out colors and bad music
just play the SNES version
Snes version is far better:
>Better sound
>Better graphic quality
>no OoT voices every time you swing your sword.
GBA ports all added obnoxious sound clips for some reason. Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World, Link to the Past, all got hit. I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea.
The best Zelda game.
Plenty of games from its time hold up. ALTTP is remarkably great, though.
GO SNES, PLEASE
SNES version. They added OOT sound effects for Link in the GBA version so anytime he swings his sword, gets hit, or falls he makes a noise. This is especially annoying considering how in LTTP the amount of times you swing your sword is vastly more in repetition than in OOT. Truly awful
The woosh sounds were a hell of a lot more satisfying to hear than some fuckboy shouting.
I sometimes wonder whether or not these are troll threads to fool autistics who honestly believe you're being genuine claiming you beat the game over and over because I've seen these type of threads before, especially with LTTP. If I figured out how to hit his tail instantly when I was 4 in 1993 then so should you and I'm sure you did the second you noticed his tail.
>awful art
Granted it's an early gen SNES game that came out only months after the release in 1991 in NA. I might be bias due to my nostalgia of the game,, but the art worked even if the dungeons used palette swaps for coloring. Or how it was impossible to tell what the fuck Agahnim looked like in his sprite.
>shit OST
Oh come on now. Hyrule Castle, Dark World, Dark Mountain, Light and Dark dungeon, Lost Woods were bad?
>good gameplay
The only major problem I ever had was how text scrolled on the longer portions like when you transport to Dark World. Outside of that its straight up gameplay moment you get out of bed. One of the best cohesive Zelda games that was just a blast to play. Last time I did a run was I think in 2015, might do another soon though.
>But as a game rather than a franchise defining tentpole, Link's Awakening is better.
Hahaha ahhhhh no...
LA had way too many damn puzzles that were too god damn vague and could get you stuck not knowing what to fucking do especially that one in 2nd dungeon.
>yeah well I got it done so it's not hard you're dumb!!!
Yeah I got it done as well, but it didn't sit well for me as that's all I remember from the fucking game and kept breaking up the pace of the game trying to figure out what the fuck I missed.
Well that was remarkably easy. Thanks Sup Forums.
How can such shit taste actually exist? It's one of the most aesthetically pleasing things in existence.
>what millenials think about all games made before they were born
You realize millennial are early 80s to 2000? Fucking dumb underage shitstains parroting what the adults say.
kek
I am a Millennial and I grew up playing this game, some of my earliest memories are watching my older brothers play this and FFIII. Go fuck yourself with your strawman bullshit.
it's not a matter of knowing to hit the tail, that's obvious, it's a matter of doing so without getting knocked off the fucking thing and having to start the fight over
Jeez it's so small when you look at it like this.
Yeah, but when you consider Link being the size of one of the tiny rocks, it looks big again by comparison.

it is sad to me that modern games don't have the level of progression and upgrades that dramatically changes what you can do in the world.
Like when you get the Pegasus boots, or you get the flippers, or the power glove, or the hookshot, or the flute, and how each one opens up the world and changes everything. Upgrading your armor and shield and sword to having noticeably greater effects.
Why can't modern games have this sense of progression or adventure?
#TRIGGERED (and liar)
The pegasus boots animation is two recycled animation frames and a smoke cloud. The hookshot uses the generic "use item" frame and two sprites. The power glove doesn't even change an animation.
In a modern game all of those things would need a whole bunch of animations and extra models. If it's 3D you need to figure out how to make the IK solution handle the pegasus dashing so the character's feet don't clip through the ground, and the hookshot needs a whole lot of special logic to not let you clip out of bounds. This all costs a lot more than drawing two 16x16 sprites.
Then once you've done all that, you need to go build enough environments to explore so that the progression matters, and the cost of that has ballooned even more. Unless you use copy-paste stuff, but then it doesn't feel so epic.
(But then some of your complaints seem to just be legitimately easy shit that game developers forgot how to do.)
Born in 1990. Millennial goes as far forward as 1998.
its not even about presentation or recycled assets, its about gameplay changes. its about organically making progress and opening up the world to explore
Whoa, holy shit. I'm about to do a blind playthrough of this myself.
Look at how much of the world is just empty filler space. I know what they should do. Create an alternate version that is just as empty but has a slightly different color pallet
None of it is empty filler space you retard.
A helpful item is hidden in a cave east of Lake Hylia. Get it!
My point isn't that LttP recycling assets is bad, it's that it enables these things. Modern standards make these things ludicrously expensive.
Light world death mountain and the dark world east edge of the lake are both pretty empty.
There are also a bunch of screens that stand out as being pretty unimportant (northwest edge of lake, cave south of eastern palace, woods immediately east of Link's house, southwest corner of forest, small forest north of blacksmith), but the fact that these stand out is also a testament to how packed the rest is.
>Light world death mountain
What? There's 15 cave entrances on the light world death mountain. It's literally the most complex area in the game.
>dude you have to go full meta in your first playthrough
You should kill yourself.
You're taking out your inferiority complex on him, it's not his fault you're shit at games. There's no excuse for not finishing it in at the very most 3 hours.
If you really believe that you have to rush through a game you play for the first time then you are a retard.
Don't do the Dark World dungeons in numbered order, the game is more fun and challenging out of sequence.
>First Dark World dungeon must be done first, next 3 dungeons can be done in any order as long as you use the warp tile back to the Dark World in Kakariko
>5 and 6 can be done after 4, also note Ice Palace can be beaten using Bombos instead of the fire rod, Misery Mire can be entered if you dash bounce across the gap in the entrance
>7 requires the most dungeons be beat 1,3,4, and 6 but can still be done before 2 and 5.
All together there are 66 different variants of dungeon orders.
Or you could just use the randomizer.
>Zelda randomizer
Now I am curious.
I already know where you will get stuck at. You will get stuck on your way to the 6th temple after getting the hookshot because you won't know how the fuck to get there.

This is the best randomized game in existence. Note that it has to be that specific rom.
Thanks.
That first link isn't working. Google 3322EFFC, first result, that's the rom.
Randomizer is for people who know all the chest and item locations, you could get stuck for hours because you didn't know about an obscure chest. Its not for beginners.
It was the 1 video game ever made for a long time. If that makes any sense.
I can see why people like it, I prefer 3D Zeldas though (even the "bad" ones like Skyward Sword)
Objectively false.
A link between world’s dungeons were much too short. Most were only 2 floors.
Therefore it was not better in every way.
Though I will agree it’s a great game
