no nimrod should have that much power.

Yes, he tricked Wander.

It just wanted to be free.
Emon was the true evil.

In which way did he trick Wander? He kept his end of the deal and Wander was well aware of the dire consequences he might face when dealing with him.

That depends on you definition of evil.

No.
He kept his end of the bargain. Dormin promised that he would bring Mono back if Wander killed the Colossi, but that Wander may pay a heavy price. That's exactly what he said, and he did exactly that. Wander killed the Colossi, was possessed by Dormin, and Mono came back to life, no strings attached. Hell, he even ensured that Wander survived, too. There was no betrayal on Dormin's part.

>Dormin backwards is Nimrod
>Nimrod was a goddess of the hunt
>Wander is tasked with hunting the collossi
pottery

Probably
No he didn't. Wander knew the risk he was taking. You'd think after enough collosi he'd notice he was dying. Dormin layed out the terms, it's on wander to make a deal with the devil

yes and that's why he was sealed, you're just retarded for making a deal with the devil expecting things to go well

Dormin was a stand up guy, literally did nothing wrong

>that new Dormin voice in the remake

they made it way too feminine, it's less imposing now

Are you kidding? Things went extremely fucking well. Wander got exactly what he bargained for. Dormin laid everything out, Wander executed it, and Mono came back to life. Wander said he didn't care what the price or consequences were. He just wanted Mono to be revived, and she was revived without issue.

You guys do realise that mono becomes the evil queen in ico?

She’s trying to ressurect wander through collecting all the horned children.

At least the splitting of his soul is more noticeable now when he revives Mono

Ico is the prequel though

I believe the devs confirmed that SotC takes place before Ico.

ueda says sotc is the prequel

How? Everything points to Ico taking place years later. Like the baby at the end of SOTC was the first of the horned children.

Are Wander and Dormin fused or something?
And wasn't Dormin just sealed? Why does Emon say Wander is "possessed by the dead"?
What are colossi then?
Sorry, it's been a while since I played it.

Could something as big and theoretically heavy as Avion ever actually fly? Yeah there's shit like the Quetzalcoatlus but they're not nearly as big or heavy

Isn't there that one structure you can find out in the wastes that is pretty much exactly the same structure you can find in the queen's castle in Ico?
Doesn't make sense for it to be there unless Ico came first.

dormin was sealed by splitting him into 16 parts.

dormin get released and his female side enters mono

Wander gets fused with the male side and this creates the horned curse.

We don't have enough info, but nothing he did in SoC is inherently evil. If we infer that his power is that of the queen in Ico, then yes.

Over which timespan do you think did the events in the game take place? Emon and his warriors must have noticed Wander and Mono's disappearance relatively quickly assuming they aren't part of some religous elite troop that had to be notified.

he likely was, but he made no secret about it

the implication is that the lands are barren with ruins scattered throughout, and that whoever managed to fuck him up long ago, did so with much effort at great cost, and they had to abandon the lands

>tfw there will never, ever, EVER again be a game as atmospheric, mysterious, and compelling as SotC
Goddamn, I remember all the sleuthing regarding there being a 17th colossus. Such a legendary game.

So how does The Last Guardian tie into the lore? Or is it alone?

>dormin get released and his female side enters mono
Proof of this? I don't see any indication of Mono being possessed.

>tfw you will never fight this

I wanna fight the giant spider.

The female part of his voice disappears once Mono is revived

Really sad neither the PS3 remaster nor the new remake made the hidden unused maps like the dam playable.

I have ideas for a game that tries to scratch the same itch as SoTC, but with more puzzle solving like Ico. I really ought to sit down and learn some real programming one of these days.

The female part of the voice slowly disappears over the course of the game, and disappears even before Mono is revived. There is no indication that Dormin possessed Mono.

too late mate

They could have added at least one of the unused colossi

I don't, the water colossi make my ass clench enough as is.

what ever happened to this game? did it come out?

Haven't actually heard of this one.
Doesn't mean I can't do my own take on that.
Journey is another inspiration of mine

Last I heard it had to change its title because of Bethesda for using the word Prey.

It's an area cut from the map though.

Who knows. The entire facility in The Last Guardian appears to be built around some sort of tomb, with the Guardians protecting it. Near the end of the game, as the tower crumbles, we're shown a closeup of the sarcophagus. No fucking idea what it could mean though.

Yeah that's true, guess it's not really kosher to discern canon from stuff that isn't officially seen in the game.

Perhaps they weren't so sure if it was going to be before or after Ico at one point

I don't believe that.

There's no way that Bethesda can get full fucking use of Prey, and the fucking word Scrolls. they just keep fucking attacking people who use those words like they fucking own them.

She isn't possessed, the light/feminine side of Dormin power was just injected her, maybe because that's how he ressurected her.
Her becoming an evil witch is an obvious self-realized prophecy.
Wander was reborn with horns and random children were born with small parts of Dormin power, and in Ico the Witch capture them for this power.
Her daughter obviously had the light part, maybe so her mother could get her body.
Even in the last guardian, the antagonist is draining something from the earth.

true, SotC and GTA San Andreas were the best games on this mystery thing

no such things like that now..

It doesn't have to be legal, they will keep doing it because they know little indie devs don't have the money to call them out on it.

What are some games just as memorable/special as Shadow of the Colossus?

Bloodborne

>The female part of the voice slowly disappears over the course of the game, and disappears even before Mono is revived. There is no indication that Dormin possessed Mono.

not that user, but wouldn't this indicate that in fact the female part of Dormin is slowly seeking into Mono over the course of the journey, aka the more Colossi you kill. What even is this concept of bringing dead back to life, there surely must be a catch, a tribute; not just from Wander's side, but from the one that initiates the ritual- Dormin is not a god after all.

Perhaps the female part of him was originally a maiden/shaman that voluntarily sacrificed herself (since the tribe seemed to have much of a history with Dormin, and are rather hesitant to talk about it) to serve as a seal that would hold him dormant from within, like two voices in your head that clash with each other. The more colossi Wander kills, the more strength the actual Dormin re-obtains, while the female fades away more and more. Again, maybe his plan all along, was to push that "female" seal out of himself, and since there is no way to kill her, transfer her to a different body, Mono.

The objectively correct answer is: maybe.

Is Dormin a gestalt of dead people or something?

Dinasty Warriors 7

just ico and mgs2/3

It's still in development with this a planned release this year.
t.kickstarter backer right here

Not at all.

He seemingly only possessed him because Wander was killed.

after all these years I still wish there were more things waiting to be discovered

>You guys do realise that mono becomes the evil queen in ico?
What? Where did you get this idea?

>She’s trying to ressurect wander through collecting all the horned children.
Again, what? The baby was Wander.

There was a thread on the official PlayStation forums the went full autism trying to find the final secret. It was so much fun. I think I had the entire thread saved on PDF on an old computer. Best of times.

Every single thread. Are you a bot?

Fuuuuck. Is there more evidence?

>She’s trying to ressurect wander through collecting all the horned children.
Why though, he's clearly alive at the end. Just as a baby

People have been saying that for over a decade mate.

I didn't say he was tricked or cheated, dormin kept his part of the promise, nothing wrong here
Wander was a retard because he was desperately dealing with forces beyond his understanding and without caring about the consequences

I'm mainly a Sony guy, but I still haven't ever played SotC. Should I buy the PS3 version, or PS4?

>It's an area cut from the map though.
What? It's in the desert.

Ueda did say that but it makes more sense for Ico to be the prequel.

I'd emulate it if you have a good CPU. You can also stream the PS3 version with a free trial of PSnow if you don't want to buy the PS3 version, Ico is on there too. The remake wasn't done well.

...

Is the last guardian related to ico and sofc

I mean the exact same wording, together with that structure

So one shitty reused model against everything else indicating it's a sequel?

>So one shitty reused model against everything else indicating it's a sequel?
Like what?

Wander being reborn as a horned child

The original was a combination of a male and female voice. It was just very hard to hear the female because the male voice was so overpowering. Dormin was always supposed to be androgynous.

HtoL#NiQ
Complete with the making you feel like a bastard aspect

Get the ps4 version, the remake is the superior version despite what the retarded contrarians on Sup Forums would tell you

That doesn't signal that Ico is the sequel.

>Wander is the first horned child
>Wander is a new horned child

It could go both ways.

Hell, a child with horns could just be a product of one touched by a "god".

Nice bait

Don't lie to him, shitposter. If you cared about SOTC at all you wouldn't say this.

Dormin was supposed to be a mysterious mixture of a few different voices, but now he just sounds like a woman with a man talking in the background to me.

>Ueda did say that but it makes more sense for Ico to be the prequel.
No, it doesn't
The kids with horns are descendents of the one in the ending of SotC, they exists because of Dormin and Wander
Similarly the Queen and Yorda resemble Mono because they are her descendent

yep

That's legit a King Crimson mask.

>The kids with horns are descendents of the one in the ending of SotC, they exists because of Dormin and Wander
Where's the proof? That doesn't even make sense to me and literally nothing indicates this.

>Similarly the Queen and Yorda resemble Mono because they are her descendent
They're the only females we see in this Japanese series. All asians look the same.

>Wired News: Is there any connection between the worlds of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus?
>Fumito Ueda: There's no specific connection as far as a timeline. But, both games exist in the same world.
>WN: But you've said the baby we see at the end of Colossus is the first "baby born with horns" referred to in the backstory of Ico.
>FU: Yes. I wanted to give some idea to the player, after you complete the game, that there was a connection to Ico. That's why I put in the baby with the horns. If somebody goes all the way through the game, I wanted them to be rewarded.
>WN: Have you worked out the timeline of this world for yourself? What happens between the two games?
>FU: In the beginning, I didn't have a complete picture of the storyline. But I did know what I wanted the game design to be. I try to match the game design with the storyline, so the story followed from the mechanics. (At an industry conference recently, Ueda was asked why Ico, the main character of the first game, had horns on his head. The designer said that in early play tests it was difficult to tell which character you were controlling, so they put horns on his head. Only after that did it become part of the game's story.)

>they exists because of Dormin and Wander
Honestly this doesn't make any sense. Dormin was sealed away, perhaps because he kept "cursing" people which turned them into horned babies.

Nimrod was also part of the various post-flood nations that contributed to the construction of the tower of babel and the tower in the game is very babel-esque in it's height and grandeur.

whats wrong with the remake ? to me it looks fine and people bitch and moan over small details

Videos here
youtube.com/user/GamersPreyHD/videos

I'm the main one pointing out most of the details that aren't remade well and I can't fathom how you could consider most of this stuff to be small details. It's the game. Just the buggy nature of the remake alone puts it in the "shit tier" bracket if we're being objective.

>small details
Sure thing, pal.

holy shit I take back what I said the remake looks nothing like the old game

Are there any picture compilations that display the PS3 version and the PS4 with each possible filter applied? I find it strange that the team did include a filter that slightly approximates the faded look but opted for the Uncharted look per default

You westerners are pretty hilarious trying to make sense of canon that the writer himself said he didn't elaborate further It's unclear if its a sequel or a prequel, that will only be explained if we get a new game in the series or the writer says so in the interview.

The Tendrils from the dead Colossi have the subtle green aura on it, which is a reference to the evil Queen in Ico, so there is a possible connection there, speaking of, the remake on PS4 does not have this

Also on the remake, im sure Bluehole is stupid enough to think Dormin is evil, even though he told Wander what the deal was & Wander literally replied "it doesn't matter" Dormin kept his end of the deal, hes not evil at all

The game isn't out yet so only retarded youtubers and such have it, so no. But the nature of the filter system lends itself only to tumblr tier screenshots, it isn't a comprehensive control of the lighting engine. Nothing will fix the lack of lighting or atmospheric effects. This image is a good example. No amount of filtering would make the left look like the right.

Reminds me a lot of people trying to fix Dark Souls II with ENB, but it's just impossible.

I like how Dormin doesn't do anything bad either. When it's time for "him" to attack the people, the control shifts to you the player who can be perceived as Wander. Wander is the "bad" guy.

one of my favourite colossi and he became a fucking gorilla
what a waste

You can do more tweaking in photo mode supposedly.

>Photo Mode
Has this really become a mainstay in big games?

it's free marketing

Im getting annoyed at people saying "just use photo mode to fix it" it's like saying "mods will fix it"

Also photo mode can't add back atmospheric effects like fog

The people who have been saying that are just trolls.

It's the same thing.

The hair is different and the shading just makes him look more like a gorilla.

>It's the same thing.

t. Sonybro brainlet.
