I wish there was Underground 2 Online. Something like Vice City Online.

Tbh if I could just get UG2 with more cars and licensed parts like we have now (and some unique ones to pad out cars that don't have much in the way of aftermarket irl) I'd be able to die happy.

Have you replayed through the second Era Need For Speeds back to back?
Because I did, and its perhaps I have no nostalgia for 2 as for some reason it could not run while Most Wanted could, out of UG1, 2 and MW, UG 2 is the weakest link.
Story mode is plain and simple a pure grindfest.
To me playing UG2 felt like a chore compared to 1 and MW.
The rubberband AI in the UGL races did not help either.

But I want the original ones back, not ricey shit
youtube.com/watch?v=d-PXBz1XVGo

I did and found UG2 to be the best out of the three.
Best city, decent race variety, good car selection and the freeroam feels slimply nice to have.
I agree about the UGL being the worst part.

>tfw want to play NFSU on PC
>cant find it anywhere

Good fucking riddance. NFSU2 is an open world game where the tracks were made to fit a city layout, whereas NFSU has tracks that were made to look like they might fit a city. That's why on hard mode you can't actually finish the first game if you use your breaks. Or let of of the throttle. Ever. NFSU2 is a sunday drive in comparison. Arcade racing games were never made for multiple consecutive 90° curves in tight spaces.
Also some of the content in NFSU2 is just ridiculous. You build your perfect ride, then some maganize feature mission forces you to deck your treasure with LED rim spinners and quadruple roof scoops or else you can't actually win. NFSU was all about the arcade racing. NFSU2 didn't add anything that was needed and some of the new features just made the game worse.

>That's why on hard mode you can't actually finish the first game if you use your breaks. Or let of of the throttle.
This was one of the worst things I've noticed last time I played through Underground, the track design is just so boring. You run flatout most of the time, your average speed is around 250 km/h in the later stages of the game.

That's a nice BORING 250km/h you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to it.

yeah, I hate how you're supposed to ruin your car with ricer shit in order to get more stars

You're not looking hard enough.

>in 1st entire race
>one mistake near the end
>2nd place
>start race over

Works on my machine, easy to find.

Even though Carbon inexplicably doesn't have drag racing despite introducing 70's muscle it's still my favorite because all of the cosmetic shit is actually cosmetic.

THE ONLY THING I UNDERSTAND IS WHAT I FEEL

Fuck the traffic cars, for whatever reason they are like twice as heavy as playable cars, you can easily PIT an opponent, but if you try to touch a traffic car you're in for a bad time
Download the mod that removes visual rating from the game

I GOT A GREEN GLOW UNDER MY CAR

Does it work with an X360 controller? These games have never controlled terribly with digital keys but it would still be better.

are you using any texture mods? I know the game holds out pretty well in HD but those reflections are better than what I remember

this
and this

probably, I used a ps3 controller which was technically emulating a 360 one on PC

he is
no way the games actually look like that

during the hard parts of underground 1 there isn't a noticeable difference between easy and hard, and during the noticeable moments the game isn't really all that hard on hard either, imho

the cars and city do if you use the widescreen fix, but those road textures look modded

thepiratebay.org/torrent/14512025/Need_For_Speed_NFS_Underground_Doulogy_(1___2)_repack_Mr_DJ

thirteenag.github.io/wfp#nfs

yeah but like you said the reflection looks modded too that much reflection would have killed your pc back then

It's not hard, it's just precise. On easy you can almost drive like you would in any other arcade racer, but on Hard if you're not going full speed for a few seconds it's restart time. You need to learn the tracks inside and out so you can get through full throttle without breaking once. I remember playing on launch and "lady from the box art" was literally impossible if you didn't do that.

my nigga

>TPB
enjoy having your computer being used for mining

well I only remember eddie's posse 7 lap race being hard and imho whether you played it on easy or hard it was pretty much irrelevant

...Actually disregard that. That was in the Berenstein universe. The NFSU1 with a final boss that's a mystery woman driving a piano black 350Z and she's actually an unnamed character from the box art apparently doesn't exist. Nevermind my inter-universal vidya shenanigans.

i literally can't get these song out of my head

Oh I'll enjoy your computer alright

anyone else get frequent crashes when playing Underground 2?

>speed2.exe has stopped working

Horizon 3 street races are so close right down to the horrible ai

>doesn't understand the smoke and mirrors behind video game reflections

trusted uploader tho. also anyone can note his PC bursting into flames randomly and acting upon this

Tbqh if you haven't gotten into street racing irl nothing comes close vida just can't do it justice not even Sims track or conefag irl.

Pic related it's my siq whip

there is a reason there is no working mirror in games anymore and reflection are half the fps or very low res like in zelda or gta V
i'm firing up the game right now and i will take some screen shots to compare

Post your face when this starts playing.
youtu.be/OwnOf3LrheA

I got occasional ones

Even the PS2 version of NFSU has "reflections" that look just fine. It's a few low-resolution pre-rendered cubemaps with a couple of frames of animation to make it look like the reflections of buildings passing by. It's incredibly simple and barely takes any processing power. It's nothing like simulating mirrors.

yeah but just looks at the reflection the dude has in his webm it's nothing like the base game the res of the road and reflection are definitively higher

2015 reboot is unironically good.

There goes my valentine again
Soaked in red for what she said
And now she's GONE

ProStreet and The Run are underrated entries.

You're right. That's realtime screen space. The walkway over the street reflects slightly different than it appears, which means that a different render pass is used to reflect the image from the road, which means it's realtime. I'm not sure about the PC version but the PS2 definitely does not have that capability. You need Pixel Shader 1.1 at least which is something that PS2 never had.

>Redux
good taste. this looks good even in U2

>2015 reboot is unironically good.
I've played the PS4 version and in my opinion it's irredeemably shit. I don't even need to go into detail about tracks, cars or AI. They could be perfect for all I care. The game has almost a half second input delay which means that it's literally unplayable.

Works just fine on my pc :^)

youtube.com/watch?v=hp4Ns_nme1I

It's not cubemaps, if you use a camera hack you will see that it's actual models beneath the ground that are mirrored, the street is made "transparent" to make it look like a reflection.
Same with your car, it's actually a lower detailed car right under the real one mimicing every move.

Any alternative for DRAGOZOOL textures for U2?

I have, and it's stilly my favorite of the UG1 though carbon games. MW's the weakest link for me though I admit MW had some of the best story progression in not just NFS but racing games in general.

URL is shit I'll give you that. But that's because I found it too damn easy compared to everything else.

downloading right now
i knew these reflection where too good

>It's not cubemaps...
Well that's obvious. That's what the PS2 can do easily. What I meant is the arbitrary geometry reflections on the surface of your car. That can't be made with mirrored geometry, but the PS2 has no problem with low resolution cubemaps with a little bit of animation.

I noticed in that NFSU redux vid that signs and lampposts aren't reflected.

The car reflections are not cubemaps either, it's a shader which ractually renders the scene from a different perspective and ouputs it into the car's skin.
That's actually how mirrors work in modern games.

There's a setting for FPS and resolution of it, at least on PC.

>plays NFS
>complains about rubberband AI

The same people on Sup Forums playing this ghetto videogame will then go on Sup Forums and complain about BLM. Hypocrisy.

who keeps TPB open after snatching a torrent?

...

that widescreen patch breaks the game

NFS post underground was pure more euro gt arcade cruiser.

Imho the series went to shit as soon as underground 2 came out.

U1 gets a lot of hate but it's still holds up.

U2 gets shot on for a reason the roads and map just suck.

Horizon 1 and 3 are great imho hopefully 4 is even better

>street racing irl
>tuning an ugly af sedan
yeah, I wanted a tuned rice cooker aswell when I was 12.

No it doesn't.

It's a Holden Calais you ungreatful but it has a t56 and 350hp LS1 under there.

How could U like NFS and not get into cars for real?

Fuck no. Customization was excellent, but rubberbanding was absolutely horrible. The worst of any NFS I have ever played.

its just an ugly car, what a waste of money.
I always had the dream to restaurate an old american muscle, but real life doesnt let me.

what dude the customization was almost absent for some cars that shit was really overrated

>a shader which ractually renders the scene from a different perspective and ouputs it into the car's skin.
That's a reflection probe outputting into a cubemap, and I'm pretty sure the PS2 does not have enough processing power to have multiple full-shader render cameras processing realtime cubemaps. Especially considering that the game supports split-screen multplayer which would mean multiple reflection probes as well as multiple player cameras.

>Responding to obviously boganry

Not everyone wants to get into an ugly as fuck buick with an ancient cuckrod engine.

Shit, I had a Chrysler LeBaron Turbo II and a Dodge Daytona Shelby Z with 385whp and am pretty sure it was way more interesting than that thing will ever be.

>Not buying the collection for like 10 $. I'm gonna install a cd drive just so I can install these badboys

I loved the whole night time city setting & theme, but idk there's just something that underground did that deparated from the original NFS feel and started a new era of NFS games.

I remember stuff like NFS HP/HP2 (and previous) which was all about exotic cars on exotic racetracks. The handling felt much better. AI was really good.

No idea about PS2 but that's what the PC version does.
You can check that yourself by replacing building textures which will also appear on the car, no possible with pre-rendered cubemaps.

I am a fan of NFS as much as the next one, but these 10$ go to EA, just pirate it, the developers wouldnt see money anyway.
Remember, EA managed to kill off NFS aswell.

Who's cares if it's ugly it goes like stink has bcr racing coilovers and is tonnes of fun to drive.

Nobody else bothers blto build these into anything but gayass street strip drag skid crap instead of a funky tougeboat and they are goat grand tour yatchs only weight 1600kg
It's a fucking holden/Opel omega U stupid cunt off yourself
