I remember sending video proof of a bot killing a quest giver I needed. I got an automated response that I needed to bring my guild to kill him because that's how WoW worked. I hope this dude got the same treatment.

This type of shit is only on the forums. Anyone complaining in game about getting ganked on a pvp realm is blasted by chat within seconds.

The problem with the forums is that blizzard hardly interacts with it anymore other than to make announcements / make half hearted replies to particularly large threads. Then all you've got left are the 90% of the posters that spend more time posting about what they hate about the game instead of playing it, and the 10% of people that are for whatever reason still hopeful that those forums will be decent at some point in their lifetimes.

The distinction between servers is being removed and instead you opt in to pvp like you do on a PvE server only you do it in towns instead of wherever. IIRC the way it'll work is there will be a PvE and PvP version of the world that players will be placed into depending on whether they're opted in or not.

Most "open pvp" mmos I've played has the quest npcs and other really important npcs virtually unkillable.

A premade WSG on my real was banned for holding the flag and prolonging the match all day.
A guy in my guild was banned for killing low level mods required for quests and thus preventing lowbies from questing there.

it's not a recent thing, either, blizzard has always had the policy of shutting down deliberate efforts to completely stop gameplay, they've banned entire guilds for a day or two because they would camp the quest givers in entire zones, effectively stopping leveling for the opposite faction, and they would have shifts and rotate people so it was a 24/7 thing, this isn't anything new it's been happening since vanilla
