>be summoner
>your summons are actually far stronger than yourself

If you were stronger than your summons, why would you even need to summon?

If your summons are stronger than you, why would they work for you?

because you summoned them

they wouldn't be called "summons" if they didn't work for you

But they could turn on you and win

Haha

but they don't

Bound by your magic otherwise they are sent back to the ass ends of nowhere you pulled them from.

That's why you cast Protection from Evil beforehand, user

unless the game has a mechanic for minion betrayal, your summoning magic is guaranteed to bind them to your will. if you weren't able to keep them under control you would not be able to cast the spell in the first place.

Summoner had a pretty good balance in this imo. Joseph was pretty easily the best character, but he was this on top of having access to summons and his summons had their own useful niches like the living sword doing absurd damage in exhange for joke hp.
Unfortunately 2 made you transform into the summons instead of, you know, summoning them, so they quickly became inferior to maya's broken ass once she makes her sword do fire damage

>Chilling with your demon homies and some faggot rips you from your universe until the fight is over or you betray him
But wouldn't that just be an even greater incentive to attack you? So your summon gets back instantly?

should do it like naruto and have an entire alternate universe populated by creatures that exist only to be summoned for no apparent reason at all

>getting so cucked your minions betray the master
You're the only cuck who's thinking this

>a-attack minion!
>no
>I command-
>no
>b-but muh magic! The dark pact I made with Beezle-
>no

pet classes in a nutshell
>pet is so much stronger that your character is essentially a walking summon
>pet is completely irrelevant because it deals significantly less damage than PC
Pet classes are never done right

Is this a mod? I recall being able to summon a Balrog in NWN, but it was all red with a white skull.

This looks nothing like it.

In most demon interpretations they yearn to walk the world of the living cause their actual residences are shit where they cant have as much fun as they can in the real world.

So its like being invited into a mansion from your carboard box in a sewer, and then being an idiot getting kicked out.

how would they be done right?
>Summon giving words of encouragement while you summon a different one that tsundere's your will?

how do you suppose it should be then, fagget? Player and the summon being equal in strength? Thats dumb

I like the idea behind demo lock in WoW. Just summon your shit and try to generate resources to temporarily buff them.

>be summoner
>your minions are quite average
>but you can summon a lot of them

that pretty much every pet class in wow

>there is no summon limit

That's never the case.
The pet is always shitty.
I wish there was a game where your summon was the focus and you as the character either focuses on commanding or supporting the summon.

Give the master a crucial interactive role to play in the pet's actions, position, and status. If you summon a golem, give the player a targetable AoE ability to have the golem smash a specific location. Give the player the ability to summon hazards and blockades to create favorable conditions for your pet to fight in or to guard yourself from a side you pet isn't protecting you from. Give the player the ability to channel their energy into the pet for an instant, allowing them to absorb an attack or power up an attack just as it strikes. There are a lot of ways you can make it so that you're not just two independent forces waiting on the other to do the bulk of the work, the key is making it an interactive co-dependence.

Do games like Pikmin and Overloard count in this instance?

Why would you want to summon a gnome?

Arcanum. Ogres are accessible early and strong as fuck and the character supports them with temporal magic/shields/stuns/heal from behind.

because he's cyoot :)
