No way. You're still basically paying a huge premium for a tech that's still in its infancy.

Gen 3 will be amazing.

Only if you have 2 1080 tis already

yes if you're gonna use it

hyperyes if you play driving games with a wheel

VR is not "two 1080s" demanding

Yes
Most games run fine on a 1070

Euro truck sim with a g27 and vr has been one of the best vr experiences ever for me

is a 1060 6gb good enough for VR?

Pointless argument really when companies like Sony and valve and going in big on it. I for one would have loved to have experienced the Internet in its infancy, instead I've got VRChat.

Most VR games don't support SLI.

I got it with the touch controllers and two usb extension cables for $290, if you can't get it for under $300 I don't think it's worth it. But damn, the porn is good.

Live action vr porn, even with the resolution it has, is really weird but hot to watch as a virgin

Do you need to make a kekebook account to use this?, can I use it with my glasses on?

I know that feel

no, and yes

you make an oculus account for the store. like how you have a steam account for the vive. but I guess you don't need it if you don't want it.

Where did you find this offer ?

where did you get it for that price, pal?

no
depends on how big your glasses are, but I've heard most people can

>EARLY ADOPTING A MEME VR HEADSET
ill wait about 3 more years. have fun tho

ebay auction, the "buy now" button was $290 for some reason so I slapped that shit as soon as I saw it
too bad the crypto I intended to pay for it with is in the shitter now

early adoption was 3-4 years ago when it was bundled with an Xbone controller and had no gaems, it's actually in a really good spot now and will only get better with time

ah, I can see a few on ebay right now for about $350. more I can save the better
I can only get this because of my tax return

big companies are going in on it, but you're still basically paying to beta test shit right now

in 5-10 years maybe the tech will be refined enough to be worth getting

>the porn is good
I find it awkward as fuck
sort of an uncanny valley kind of feel, only you're grabbing your dick out and completely oblivious to your real surroundings

I'm a permavirgin so I have no real world counterpart to feel uncanny about. I only really like using 2b though, the anime girls creep me out.

>Do you need to make a kekebook account to use this?
How retarded would you have to be to consider this

i like it a lot and there's some fun sim games, elite dangerous is fun and the shooters are great. if you've got a decent PC and money to throw around, definitely grab it. that being said, having paid 400, i wouldn't pay 400 again. maybe 250.

I only have a 1050ti. According to the oculus system requirements test, my card is just good enough. I talked with another user who has the same card as I do, and he can confirm it'll run smooth.
So yeah, you should be fine bud.

I'm not sure how it works for farsighted people, but I'm nearsighted and don't need glasses with VR.

get a WMR headset instead. half the price, higher res, no outer sensors, way better controllers.

does this shit mess with your eyes? my housemate got one for free, granted it was like a shittier hp version and it gave him eye strain. I only used it for five minutes so I didn't notice anything

I haven't felt any pain but sometimes ever since I've started using my rift regularly I'll get weird effects like seeing text on a screen with a "3d" effect until I blink my eyes and look at it again. Probably gonna die.

It was a meme back then, it's not farfetched coming from jewgle.

The headset basically creates the illusion of a big screen a couple of feet away from your face, it doesn't affect nearsighted people.

...

they're all the same price as the oculus from what im seeing

>parents always told me to sit far away from the TV or my eyes would go bad
>headset puts a screen right in front of my eyes
Good thing my eyesight's already shite.

5-10 years of enjoyment for $350-600 seems acceptable to me. I don't see it as being any different than buying some of the earlier consoles before everything had been standardized.

Except you'll use it for a few weeks maybe then it will collect dust

your paren't didn't know what they were talking about

sitting close to the tv causes eyestrain but has no permanent effects
coincidentally, using a VR headset for more than 20 minutes causes eyestrain

wait for the vive pro to come out, it may drop the price of the regular vive to $399

Nigga I have a 970 and play super hot at 60+ fps

Since your comment has no substance to it I will respond in an equally lazy way by saying you must be upset that you can't afford it.

You're supposed to play VR games at 90+

If you can spare the dosh it probably is.

>Everyone spreads this fucking lie
>I'm using a god damn 770 and I can run practically everything
>Been playing Subnautica just fine for days
>Played Robo Recall perfectly well
>Only thing so far that hasn't run is Rick and Memey

It's not the best way to play, you definitely want a 1060 at least, but stop spreading this bullshit because people actually believe it.

While 2x1080 tis is a bullshit requirement (especially since msot VR games don't really support SLI) a 770 gotta put you deeply into reprojection territory. Especially in Subnautica...

Resident Evil VII doesn't support VR yet on PC?

Yes. The resolution makes far away things blurry but there is a sense of scale and size you can't get looking at a static screen.

I have a headset and it's been sitting in my desk cabinet for months. Not even the porn is worth getting it out for.

No, I have one and I've seen the word Facebook twice. Once it offers you to make an Oculus account by just using your Facebook but isn't mandatory, and the other is the facebook VR thing that won't take off.
You don't even see it in the Oculus home thing which is shocking.

Also yes but you might want to get the special lens things some people sell. I know most people use it with glasses just fine.

HOW DO YOU GET THE MONEY TO BUY THIS

I don't know, probably. I have a 1070ti on the way. Like I'm not suggesting you use a 770, god no. I'm just using it to highlight the fact that it's exactly the same as any other PC game.
>Wow I need a good PC to play graphically intensive games at their maximum quality and high framerate?
>Woooooooooooooooow

buy the dip

Real, authentic VRfag here.

Racing games are worlds better in VR. Like, even if you don't like racing games you'll have a fucking blast going full Initial D.
Flight Simulators are also really good, they might be a bit nauseating for some. PvP in combat flight sims leaves you at a disadvantage due to the current panel resolution.

I think the shooter genre could really take off once somebody releases a really good one. Doing shit "manually" like aiming, reloading, ducking for cover is a fucking blast. The best part really is the fact that you're "in" the game, which gives you so much more control over how you take cover, peek around it and stuff.
Onward has the aforementioned rushed development problem and that really sets it back.

Most Made For VR games are really fucking limited in scope. Everything either isn't out, or has been rushed through development. Because of that I think that it's gonna be an enthusiast platform for the time being, but once we get more proper content it'll be a really worthwhile.
It definitely isn't a gimmick.

1070Ti should definitely be fine, I'm good with a 1070, just Fallout 4 VR has crazy reprojection ratio, but then it even has on 1080s
>Buying FO4
>Buying FO4 AGAIN in VR

VRChat is still fun once in a while to see what bullshit people are up to.

Ya, I grabbed the ti because I'm confident in VR's future and I figure I might as well prep for it. Demands will only get higher. Besides, if tomorrow all VR is erased forever it'll still be a bit future proofed. Last me a good 4-5 years like my 770 did.

>way better controllers
God no. WMR has the worst controllers by far. They're bulky, front-heavy, and lose tracking if a game makes you move them behind your head.

Oculus Touch is the best controller right now. Knuckles will take the crown whenever Valve feels like releasing it.

Why didn't they port a good game? It seems so interesting, but Fallout 4 is a chode of a game.
they should not have let the poor people in

>front-heavy,
How the fuck did they manage that? Vive controllers barely have any appreciable weight, same goes for the touch controllers from what I've heard

The literal personification of NO GAEMZ. Every single one of them, no matter what the specs are, don't have a single remotely interesting game that is even worth looking at, let alone buying.

$700 for a fucking paperweight.

1070 any good? not looking for 4k 27383822fps

Despite all the issues FO4 in VR is pretty cool, I mean it's the only game of that scope with true VR support on Pc I think.
But asking full price for it even if you own the normal version is just not right, especially since it has Bethesda-tier optimization as expected.
>scopes didn't even work at release, they were just 100% opaque, now you get a view that only shows the scope+black borders when you hold the gun to your face

works fine for me

The Vive wands are balanced by making them super long, and putting the battery at the bottom. Microsoft's reference design has a shorter grip where the center of mass is in the front.

Doing a market test survey on opening a VR Arcade. Take a look if it interests you
research.net/r/5XBM7TK

Most of the worlds I hang out in actively are mostly VR users, it's way more fun that way.

fuck no

>drinking and VR should not mix
Actually, almost every VR event I've been to has served alcohol. They've either offered free beers, or been held at a bar.

You're free to sell whatever drinks you want, but stocking light alcohol would probably not be as big of a deal as you think.

It's actually not my place, I just know the guy who's starting it. He's fairly set on not selling alcohol, but it's downtown and next door to a brewery, so it won't really be much of an issue

>Doing market research on the internet and not around the location you'd open
You're retarded, also no one is going to go to a VR only arcade. You need to put together a proper arcade that also has VR

The 1.0 Lighthouses cost a lot to manufacture. It wont be dropping that low until they bundle the regular vive with the new cheaper to make lighthouses

>no outer sensors
You say that like its a good thing, it loses tracking if you put your hands behind you or if your hand gets too close e.g firing a rifle

Again, it's not actually my survey or place. The guy opening it is a pretty good businessman with a lot of experience in polling, so I figure he knows what he wants when he asks people to spread it around the internet.

>you're grabbing your dick out and completely oblivious to your real surroundings
If you're not jerking off with the door locked we can safely assume that you want your mother to come in and see you beating your meat eventually.

this
>he doesn't lock his door or pause the video every time he hears a sound

sure, it'll look great next to my rockband drums and 3D TV glasses on the shelf in my closet

i dont think you need a regular arcade

what about psvr?

you're asking a different version of "what's better, a console or a pc"?

just like a console, it does its job but not nearly as good as it should.

Has the games and doesn't require you to walk around your house blindfolded , is inexpensive and even PC VR games come to the PSVR.
But just like a lot of people have PC and Console if you want the full VR experience you need to have a PSVR and a Vive.
If you choose one then you just have to live with it , if you want to play Skyrim PSVR is your only choice is you want Fallout 4 then Vive is your choice.

well, it is possible to play pc skyrim with the oculus/vive

It legitimately depends on what you consider 'worth it'.
I don't consider current headsets to be worth their price, in about 3-5 years however it will be a different story as lighter, wireless headsets with better resolutions, internal sensor arrays that don't require extra setup and better controls are released and subsequently drop in price.

Rift? Yes for under 400€
Vive? No unless they dropped their price by 40%.

Original Vive price will drop like a stone once the Vive Pro comes out later this year. So I'd say that if anyone were considering buying a Vive that they might want to wait for that.

>Asking poor children anything at all.
>Headsets still getting stocked in places/sold out
>"B-b-b-but it was gonna die"
>"B-b-b-but not worth it"
Hahahahaha, watching these fucking retards flounder and make excuses for why they were wrong is the best fucking shit ever.
All the concern trolling about VR being dead and it gets a second gen in less than 3 years.
Holy fucking shit I can't stop laughing.

No. Buy a Windows mixed reality if you can for $200.

I saw someone playing Fallout 4 on PSVR not the Vive version the PC version on YT

Really tempted by this but the reviews for Fallout say the same thing about WMR that Fallout is genuinely made for the Vive and the controls will be wonky. And I want to play Fallout.
I wanted the reviews to say that it was the exact same experience , but they didn't.

get a Rift instead dummy

Absolutely do not do this.
The headset itself is perfectly fine, it's pretty decent actually. I own an Oculus and I demo'd several WMR sets prior to buying, they each have small advantages over each other.
Issue is software. There's already hiccups when something was built for either the Vive or the Oculus and you have the other, controls get fucked, sometimes weird glitches happen. With WMR a lot will be unplayable. So unless you are literally only buying it for porn, just get an Oculus.

lcd screen not oled so it's blurry and provoke motion sickness

that is a rift dummy
WMR's tracking is fatally flawed, if your controllers leave the headset's FOV they cease tracking, which fucks everything up

pretty much this. If you like vr, the headset is insanely worth the money. It's literally the best money I've ever spent on "fun".

However, if you're more casual or poor, I get why it's not worth it for you.

I will say though, everyone who tries it, buys it. The people who think it's a gimmick are the ones who havent tried it or tried a janky floor demo at best buy where the guy running it was too fucking stupid to set it up right which happened a lot.

The oculus and vive subreddits are filled with people making a "is this worth the money?" posts, buying it, and posting a week later with "holy shit I cant believe I went so long without it"

Bought it, played with it like 3 times, got bored of it.

oh fuck, i thought that was a fucking vive
whoops

Exactly this. My buddy was skeptical about it so when I got mine and shoved it on his face he immediately said he was wrong and now he's building a proper PC so he can get his own.

It's insanely worth the price. Horror games are actually horrifying, they make me scream throat-hurting screams, its awful in the best way.

Shooters are a blast, onwards is great and Stand Out is a fantastic pubg clone (albeit ugly as sin).

Sports games are awesome; I play echo arena almost every night. It's a blast.

Racing games are amazing, and I never liked racing games before vr.

Space/cockpit/flying games are all a blast as well too.

Honestly, its the only thing thats made me feel like a kid again. I was getting bored of games and now I cant wait to get home after work and play
