Local multiplayer is the highest form of video gaming

Local multiplayer is the highest form of video gaming.

Post your favorites, share your local multiplayer stories.
>Bumbling retard of a friend needs to pee but doesn't want to quit smash
>Finally gets killed
>Sits up and instantly makes a mad dash for the bathroom across our fucking controller cords
>Trips and falls
>My gamecube does 6 flips in the air
>It's not only fine, the game is still running and we finish it before picking the gamecube back up

Also all arcade multiplayer games and arcade stories welcome too.

These threads cause me sorrow.

Reminder in every thread

What is this?

Some dev footage of a guy remaking Kirby Air Ride for PC.

It was a simpler time.

>Showing it to us before it's done
Guaranteed C&D

Seems like a retarded project.

He doesn't show it anywhere other than here so he can't get C&D'd.

If it has online having Sup Forums City Trial nights would be fucking amazing. Otherwise yeah PC isn't exactly the premiere local multiplayer platform.

He said in one of the older threads that it will have online play.

Not worth the effort. For real. It'll never ever play the same.

>A fan game will never ever play the same.

Not fair. That dude's operating on another level entirely.

If the guy wants to try then I don't see why he can't. It could be good. Might be shit but who cares if it is.

It's not impossible that he'll make something good

Local multiplayer is great but there are things we wouldn't be able to have without online-only multiplayer that have been great to the industry.

Also, as much as I've enjoyed local MP in the past, splitting screens is objectively trash,

Yeah. I just hope he's enjoying himself. He shouldn't feel obligated.

Definitely I'm not riding my hopes on this or anything.

Online vidya is fucking trash. I hate all of the additional setup that you need to go through just to play games with friends.
I miss the days where you'd just plug shit in and it'd work in 5 minutes at MOST.

This happened today with a big group of people.
>Bring PS4 over
>Nobody really cares, play some fightan with friend
>Guy notices SFV case
>Asks if I have Arcade Edition installed
>Sigh yes, and play the game
>Mention a team mode
>Queue of people instantly forms, we automatically have 2 3 man teams+spectators
FeelsGoodMan, I love local gaming

>Vidya clubs at colleges could be a last bastion of local multiplayer goodness
>They're unanimously trash
