So tell me Sup Forums, how do you homestead in Subnautica?

So tell me Sup Forums, how do you homestead in Subnautica?

I build compact bases with efficient layouts.

...

i just slap things together over time with no forward planning

though i did choose this spot so i could build a big ladder down into the jellyshroom cave

I like making floating ones

>not picking hilltop

>TFW I found 4 silver chunks to mine in jellyshroom caves
>Tfw While down there I also found 3 Gold chunks, 2 magnetite, and 5 Lithium
Really put my mining arm and grappling arm to use.

Finally. I don't have to hunt for silver for wiring kits. Christ that was annoying. Also where do I get nickel ore from? I know it's deep, but my cyclops and prawn can only go 900m. The lava zone I managed to find is lower than 900m.

There's some in Lost River.

>drunkenly overclocking GPU to get that last bit of performance for high-quality water in VR

I don't see the point of making your base that deep. Isn't the starting area in the dead center of the map? And packed with edible fish?

the northern blood kelp lost river entrance has shitloads of nickel

So how the fuck do I get Kyanite

If you're still eating fish to survive you're early game.

You've gotta go deeper than you've ever gone before

But user I just found the Lost River.
I need Nickel to go deeper and can't find it.

The Prawn is so damn slow.

get the grapple arm and learn just how wrong you are

Most "efficent" base building is having a single big one in an area you like but big enough for Cyclops and with easy acces to multiple biomes and several small "outposts" purposed to minning activity/refueling for Lost River-ILZ/other important cave diving

you're just a pleb

do you have any problems like the PDA being too close to your face and seaglide being too much in your face ?

The Prawn isn't supposed to be used for mining and deep cave diving and is designed to be used with a Cyclop carrier

incorrect

i traversed the entire lost river and lava zone using just the prawn with the grapple arm. in a cave it's incredibly fast

isn't?

there's a ton of nickel by the meme tree.

I have an idea what the meme tree is, but why is it called that? Just because of the eggs?

the prawn is faster than a seamoth if you know how to pilot it.

which harvest moon is this

Because everyone and his mother builds a base there.

mostly because it's literally the perfect endgame base location as a completely safe area with every resource nearby that puts you in a good position to get to the lava zones. and on top of that the view is great.

>found giant wreck
>enter it
>find no databox or pda
what was the point

Why would you use anything else other than thermal power?

I only have a drill module on it and no cyclops so.

I know but the Grapple is supposed to be used as utility tool for cave diving, not for outspeeding a Seamoth the actual oceaning exploration veichle

Got it. And I found the Nickel. Do I have enough time to pry the depth upgraded out of my Cyclops, upgrade it, and plug it back in before the pressure kills me?

nuclear is for cool folks

either you didn't look hard enough or there were a bunch of blueprint fragments near/inside it.

get that grapple arm son, it's a game changer.

>supposed to be
Think out side of the box user.

What are the point of foundations if you can just plop any building module down anywhere?

here i go boys

You never need that much power and replacing rods seems a pain in the ass

they increase integrity

Why would you build a base somewhere safe? You don't need a base to survive in the safe shallows. You want a base deep where it's not easy to get air/supplies.

R.I.P In Peace nigga

I looked deeper and finally found the vehicle upgrade console :^)
thank god

i hope it goes on sale soonish ;__;
i hope i can even run it

>going on sale
>It's less then 30 bucks
>It just came out
Poorfag go home.

>20 hours in
>built mediocre base with scanner and essentials + slightly upgraded seamoth
>Sunbeam blew, Aurora blew.
>have only explored about 5 places below 300m
>can't find these deeper bases people are talking about

Am I retarded or am I on pace for a first blind playthrough?

FUCK

God fucking damn it.

Kill yourself and you won't have to worry about it.

man why doesn't this game have co op
it would be perfect for it

Just pirate it moron
When I was kid and couldn't afford shit I just did that

Good job guys

The PDA is STUPIDLY in my face and my eyes strain every time I look at it. Haven't even started scanning for seaglide since I had to go do some shit.

I realize the PDA is so damn close so that you can read it, but just add sliders for farness AND scale you stupid fuckwits.

>peemoth
kek

>supposed to be
user, the prawn is certainly not meant to rodeo leviathans and punch them in the face for 15 minutes butt that's sure as hell what I like to do with it.

How far is it from the upgrade slots to your modification station?

The Cyclops takes damage the same way everything else does. at 100% it can probably handle ten seconds or something.

>tfw never saw my meme time capsule in the voting page

devs probably deleted it. no fun allowed

what arms should I be putting on my prawn suit?
Miner and grapple?

What did it say?

You must go deeper still.

Where is the voting page?

>perfect endgame base location
>not the gun platform warp gate

Monsters still aren't big enough

>thought I had made it clean
>amazed since even with the seamoth he would get iffy
>[muffled autistic screeching in the distance]
>still feel I'm clear but get a slight trepidation
>been running at Flank so long my first fire pops up
>flick up a camera just in case
>FUCK
>Warning: Creature Attack
>keep fucking flooring it
>eventually he fucks off
>still hovering around me
>can tell he's pissed but he can't technically attack me since I'm not actually running the Cyclops

Did the devs ever build that cyclops dock they said they were working on?

It was a bunch of peepers with a picture of the creature from Froopyland in Rick and Morty with a message saying that the Peepers were my children and I had to mate with my Cuddlefish to sustain myself for the 50 years I was stranded since there were no fish left at all to eat, and ended it with "enjoy my fish!"

People actually build bases like this? Sad!

I accidentally made double of module I already had. Any way to salvage it, or am I fukt?

Not him, but I just made one today that went along the lines of:
>For all sad words of tongue and pen,
>the saddest are these,
>"My journey was postponed again"

And there was a Scanner, Repair Tool, and Flashlight, all with ion batteries. Also a Thermal knife, Prawn Jump Jets, and grappling hook arm.
Kinda wish I'd put "I had to charge my batteries again" instead desu

Bugfixes fucking when?

Can you kill Ghosts the same way you can Reapers?

Is the game still slow paced at the beginning? I haven't played in at least 6 months, but every time I would start a new game, I'd get bored quickly scouring to find parts to build anything.

I got a bad feelin about this scoob.

The only real reason you need a base is to make vehicle upgrade, with that in mind the best place is the safe shallows preferably near an entrance to mushroom cave.

You might need a second base in lost river once you need to make depth modules for prawn suit and cyclops but really bases are only there for style.

>find first time capsule
>just a cuddlefish egg and food with a note telling me to take care of it
>right next to bioreactor fragments
hmm

LET GO OF MY PEEMOTH REEEEEE
Peemoth Mk.II will avenge you

why do they not fix something so trivial, it's been like this for a while

You realize depth modules don't stack right?

You realize you can deconstruct and reconstruct with no loss of materials, right?

>getting here from my Bulb Zone base drained over 50% of the Cyclops energy
I will settle around this tree for sure now
The sonar sure as fuck kills the cyclop energy

I don’t know, but AFAIK that’s THE thing to fix for VR.

Parking's a bitch. As is expanding my base in any way shape or form. And the misaligned moonpooly annoys the shit out of me.
I should move.

F U C K

>base tucked away in the cliffsides
damn that looks confy

Yeah, you could use the FOV command to help, but they took it away

where the fuck is the hull for the cyclops? I'm jealous of all your subs.

The extra was from a time capsule.
The tube above has eight full lockers in it, fuck that

men of taste

Don't worry he is just as aggressive as a Ghost
Sea Dragons like lazy around
But if he gets angry at you prepare to RUN or abandon the Cyclops because it can destroy it faster than anything else on the planet

>The extra was from a time capsule.

Ok but you shouldn't have it equipped on your seamoth, if it gets destroyed you'll lose both. Might as well store it.

It's literally anchored right now, and it's quicker to just get a new vehicle. I just took the spares out of it and put it in the Mk. II

My base.

Because I like having a base that runs on fish and garbage.

I have very little titanium on me and not much of anything else but I wanna build a base on the meme tree. What do?

I never had to replace rods. I think they last a good while.

the whole game is about exploration, user.
There's no timelimit other than the two you mentioned, and discovery and piecing together the knowledge of what's going on and how to survive on an alien planet are 80% of the game.

You're doing fine, don't worry about it.

where i found the materials for Prawn suit depth module mk2 to go below 900m? around the Lost River?

squatting doesn't count

Literally who cares about where you're at.

The game is designed to be played at your own pace.
