I actually had more difficulty with it on subsequent playthroughs than my first

I'm pretty sure that Celestial Emissary is intentionally lame so that the player goes through the Upper Cathedral and then seeing that the Emissary was a fucking absolute joke after that difficult, scary level and thinking "what the fuck that's it?" then they smash the window and find Ebby.

Its literally impossible to kill him on NG with any weapon before he teleports even with the pellet+paper AND hitting the charged up r2 to interrupt the spin for additional couple hits, so try harder next time
