Splatoon 2

can we all agree that this is the SHIT of 2017?

I dont know what exactly you mean by that but I dont care for it nearly as much as I did 1.

Balancing is worse than it was in 1. 1 is at least somewhat fixable, with only a couple completely unusable weapons. In 2 everything but a handful of things is shit for no apparent reason.

Seriously High-quality Industry Title?

Splatoon 1: A wholly unique package

Splatoon 2: A really typical TPS but with the ink mechanic.

How they even managed to do that when they changed so few things between 1 and 2 astounds me. It's impressive, it's like every single thing that changed from 1 to 2 managed to make the game worse.

You're impressed by something you made up?

1 is essentially complete at this point to be fair. 2 is still getting updates, events, and content.

>Rebalance the game towards teamplay while not making teamplay any more viable to get together
>Rebalance super weapons to be situational and vulnerable when every game of Splatoon is a rapid fire match over in the blink of an eye making games much less chaotic, exciting, and fun
>Remove the community aspect from 1, 2verse is just a feedbackless void you throw posts into, no commenting
>Persistent gamepad map that sits in your peripheral vision and can be seen at all time (especially in the heat of the moment) replaced with a fullscreen map that blurs your vision of the game behind making you incredibly vulnerable when you check the map
>Quick jumps replaced by either 3 inputs or total sacrifice of control of your character
>Fuckloads of story missions now force you to use weapons
>Final boss is literally just the same boss as 1 but on a lazier stage
>Cuts out good flavor like the loading mini games entirely
>Overall weaker post launch support
>Pearl is so ugly that it's skewed splatfest results
>Only new addition is a game mode that's been standard in most shooters since Halo ODST.
Splatoon 2 is a crap sequel

>Quick jumps replaced by either 3 inputs or total sacrifice of control of your character to gyro jump*
>Fuckloads of story missions now force you to use specific weapons*

Don't forget
>nerf all focused weapons, often targetting their most prominent traits (L3's strafe, Aero's inking, Hydra's shooting time)
>leave all-purpose baisic bitch shooters as strong as they were, if not stronger

>Rebalance super weapons to be situational and vulnerable
Also make two low-commitment panic buttons that are preventable instead of punishable. We all bash on kraken and bubbler, but really- if choosing between preventable and punishable for panic specials I'll choose latter every day, because it prevents them from keeping constant offensive pressure with reckless offense on empty special bar.
It'd be best if they were both preventable and punishable, though.

This is pretty big.
I feel like some weapons just aren't capable of getting good coverage on their own which is a terrible design decision when about 99.99% of the people playing are being subjected to the solo queue.

Bubbler I can kinda understand the hate for, never will for the Kraken, it's just a shittier bubbler at the end of the day and if you literally just keep shooting it you can keep it from moving forward.

I never played 1 but love Splatoon, only complaint is there's so fucking little map selection and they all feel the same. Where's all the unique shit they had in single-player

Really the only issues with it are the Nzap, Splattershot, and anything with Splashdown.

Seriously do you want to hit S+ 50 in all game modes? Use the Splattershot, it doesn't have a weakness, it's a 3 hit kill with an AOE instant kill panic button that instantly refills your ink, and Nintendo will never balance it.

Splattershot is obsolete. All hail our new overlord .96 Gal Deco.
...Wait, I think I have a feeling of deja vu.

>Quick jumps replaced by either 3 inputs
it's far easier and faster to hit three buttons in rapid succession than to look at your gamepad and move your hand from the left stick to the touchscreen

False, you could tap your teammates nameplates that were put up to the side of the touchscreen instead of their marker in the middle of the map, reaching over to hit them was little harder than a single button input.

Never played 1, but 2 still feels like a rushed product half of a year after launch.
>tacked on singleplayer
>still only one coop mode that cannot always be accessed
>only a select few options for hair styles and lower body clothing
>clothes feel like random shit that can barely be thrown together in cohesion with each other unless you go for a generic look or dress like a downie
>the hub never fucking expanded with new stuff to do
>tick rate and weapon balance is shit but lets pretend splatoon is Nintendo's esport

Love the music, style and premise of the game, but it's so fucking overrated.

Splatoon 1 was balanced a lot more as a casual fun time and honestly I think it worked much better that way.

I dunno. I think I like Splatoon 2 better than the first in everything except map design.

All of Splatoon 1's maps were distinct designs and had unique gimmicks.

Most of Splatoon 2's stages are just a bunch of platforms huddled together with a main platform in the middle (humpback, starfish, inkblot, mussleforge, and sturgeon)

>tacked on singleplayer
It's an extended tutorial to give people some place to tinker with gyro controls.
>still only one coop mode that cannot always be accessed
I like that it's limited, stops you from getting burnt out, and makes finding squads for it easier since people plan for it
>only a select few options for hair styles and lower body clothing
1 had none. There's plenty of other clothing options to make your woomy unique.
Lack of proper jeans is a travesty though.
>clothes feel like random shit that can barely be thrown together in cohesion with each other unless you go for a generic look or dress like a downie
You wot, it's the most /fa/ game on the market right now.
>the hub never fucking expanded with new stuff to do
How much time do you spend in the hub? The only bummer to me is that Murch and Sean are only accessible via plaza, you can't press X to go to them.
>tick rate and weapon balance is shit but lets pretend splatoon is Nintendo's esport
That is true. 1 had both better, there was no reason for a downgrade.

In Splat1 everything was fucking broken, but that's exactly what brought balance. In 2 a few things get broken every patch and become the top used thing, everything else goes bust, then if it's not Splattershot it gets nerfed and joins the pile of mediocricity. Or gets nuked like Aero and disappears off the face of earth.

I haven't been playing. I'm too sick of every match being the same fucking thing over and over again. Until they balance at least the Nzap I probably won't bother much.
