once you get to the final act you'll know if you were having fun or not
i wasn't
Great game. Defiance Bay sucks, though.
You're having the time of your life.
>tfw too dumb to understand attack and recovery speed completely

What is f? Is that good or bad? Should I even care or is it for autistic minmaxer?
frames I guess
>Is that good or bad?
compare it to other setups. it's meaningless on its own
The final act is good, though.
It's better than some and worse than other
fascinating conclusion
only wizards get area effect damage from implements right, in pillars 2 will you be able to abuse this with some kind of wizard ranger multiclass
Maybe. Were you able to use ranger abilities with implements in the first game?
there must be a rangerfag who knows
Driving flight and stunning shot should work but you need a bow for twinned arrows
I tried liking PoE but could only finish it once. It's all so tiresome and backwards.
Wearing cool armor is pointless because a burlap sack gives faster recovery.
Wizards carry situational grimoires and just swap instead of being spell limited.
The tank meta is tripping enemies which even pansies without a shield can do.
Bards don't use their most epic songs because shorter ones let them invocate faster.
In his pursuit of not-D&D mechanics it feels Sawyer actively tried to make me uncomfortable.
The game was built on nostalgia so please don't subvert my expectations this much. Let's see about Deadfire.
Astute observations, mister. I have noted by now, being only at the beginningish, that since most allies are hired bots there's like only one ally with a personality that you can actually talk to tagging along my run-of-the-mill main char. And the story so far could've be written by a 3y old.
>using hired bots ever
my sides
Go explore and find some actual companions please, I had 4 actual characters join my party very early on.
Also, never talk with yellow npcs.
>Astute observations, mister
low iq post
Make sure you get the censorship removal patch.
>that since most allies are hired bots there's like only one ally with a personality that you can actually talk to tagging along my run-of-the-mill main char
You get the first two companions in the very first village you visit, and a third one is in the wilderness adjacent to it, the fuck are you on about.

listen to this and make a decision
Some people dislike the pace of the game - it doesn't make any attempt to jump out and grab your attention. You have to invest yourself to explore a bit and read a bit and take your time with things. Personally, that's my sort of thing, so I think it's up their with baldurs gate and dragon age origins as classic fantasy adventure goes. Can't wait for the second game.
>poe
>da:o
Are you retarded? DA:O is story focused through and through with one of the strongest beginnings of any RPG. Right from the start the game isn't wasting a single second before force feeding you story, characters and relationships. Origin, betrayal, seeking refuge with Duncan, joining the Wardens, meeting tonnes of new characters and companions and some of them die shortly after.
While in Pillars you need some berries to cure your stomach ache, have a 2 min talk with Calisca about your past, then you get ambushed, fight through the tutorial dungeon and meet the big villain that isn't much of a threat to you or anyone else until the end of the final act. PoE is a good cRPG but terrible when it comes to story and characters.
Exactly how I felt about this piece of shit.
You just repeated exactly what he said but acted like you're disagreeing. Are you retarded?
dragon age is gay though
they wasted a nice engine on not baldurs gate 3 and you think its nice the main villain is irenicus again albeit a bit weird that he is in this game then you realize he isn't, nothing you like is in this game and you are still not playing baldurs gate 3, this game will always disappoint you it is brainlet D&D for mediocre people not even nu-star wars is as disappointing as this piece of shit
My point is that POE is nothing like DAO. Not in combat, not in story, not in production quality or anything else except for the part where you got a party of characters, RTwP and explore the world while that part is 90% of POE and it's only a catalyst to deliver more story/characters in DAO.
I liked it until a gamebreaking bug made it uncompletable and I had to watch the endings on youtube
...
They're both considered to be vanilla fantasy adventures with a slower pace that rely on a story-based narrative. I'm not sure if you're really disagreeing with me or what your point is.
I switched it to story time difficulty and even now I havent picked it back up
They're both "classic fantasy adventure", which is literally what he said. You really are retarded.
God no
what did he mean by this?
There is a world between DAO and POEs approach to story. Every single time you arrive at a new in DAO you get a cut scene that establishes the local conflict, dialogue scene with local characters, your companions chiming in, you make a choice or two, then you are presented with the important characters and get more dialogue, more cut scenes and more choices to make, then you get a quest, more dialogue and you're off to explore the quest relevant area. That only happened so far once when i got to WM1. The rest of PoE is all about exploration, with a couple text boxes here and there if you're lucky, for the sake of it which is nice when you got 5 friends sitting with you at a table to RP but terrible when it's only the AI that you can't actually interact with and won't respond to your behavior.
Plus isn't Kana right outside Caed Nua when you first go there?
>classic fantasy adventure
So all CRPGs are the same? All of them are high fantasy, you're some sort of really important dude who has to save the world/defeat evil, they all allow you to control 4-6 characters from an isometric perspective and you can pause the combat to issue orders.
I would smash her cloaka
I quite enjoyed my first run with my meadowfolk aderyan cipher. Plan on multiclassing them with either a paladin or ranger.
Give me a character for a second and third run Sup Forums.
Birdfu a cute! CUTE!!!
Let's be honest. Fucking a cloaka of a birdgirl is really not any dirtier than fucking a vagina. People already do anal all the time anyways.
Let's not forget the mostly shallow companions, the fedora ending and a lot of the dialogue being info dumps only outdone by T:TON.
About tanking: mages can easily do it with the correct buffs and still deal decent damage while retaining fast recovery.
Also the tacked on base building...
I actually liked the game somehow despite all that wtf.
Male Coastal Aumaua Monk Philosopher from the Ixamitl Plains
Yes, but while it's easy to beeline to him once he knows he's there, it'll usually take you a number of hours to reach him in your first playthrough.
I mean, the gods are still pretty much gods, you just learn they were artificially created by a previous civilisation. For all intents and purposes, they're still gods.
Thanks nigga.
Most of the companions suck ass though.
False. The only companions that suck are Devil, Grieving Mother, Kana Rua and Maneha. Less than half.
>Kana Rua
>sucks
Reported
Who exactly? The only ones I didn't like where Grieving mother, Devil and the one from the 2nd part of the white march.
>instead of a cool castle and fortress to upgrade, you get a crappy boat this time in PoE 2
Caed Nua was one of the best parts of PoE, even in its underwhelming and under-developed state. Why couldn't they just have something like that, but better?
Hello?
I was having fun for about 10hrs but the more I understood the game the less i liked it.
Especially since now the loading times aren't bad anymore, so it wouldn't take 5 hours to check your kitchen out.
I'm still excited about getting a ship, though. You can even upgrade the ship, buy bigger ships or just straight up capture enemy ships and gain control of them. That's sweet.
I thought Caed Nua was utter shit and the Endless Paths should've been chopped up and redistributed to flesh out the rest of the game.
>Not like Rauatai bro Kana
What's wrong with you?
He's 31 years old and acts like he's 14
Fuck off, retard.
He's just fucking around. He's basically those go happy peppy professor who likes to sing songs, swim, fish, dance and have shark orgies.
found the sailor
Yeah. That's why I'm excited to see his brother in Deadfire. Kalu Rua
>He's basically those go happy peppy professor
Yeah, he's that really lame professor trying to be "in" with the kids.
The companions are good they just don't really interact with anything but the watcher, which is what really sucks ass.
WE ARE THE
So they're bad is what you're saying.
> Astute observations, mister.
That's being fixed in Deadfire thankfully.
I just got the impression he was pretty sheltered. Pallegina is more mature then him, and she's the youngest member of the party at 26.
Fun? Not sure.
Balanced? Hell yes!
And the last one makes a great game, right?
That's one of the big improvements I'm really looking forward to seeing in deadfire desu.
how many more years will you be butthurt that they fixed your overpowered character
Garbage hipster game, not even worth a pirate.
Lack of balance isn't a good thing, bub.
> shitting on Sharkbro
Delet urself IRL my dude
Balance is the most important thing in a single player RPG!
Throw Sagani in there as well.
Is this it?
Is Sup Forums finally starting to appreciate balance?
I love how the anti-balance people have zero arguments
>game about souls
>its completely soulless
DEEPEST LORE
cute, her and durance were my favorites.
Right?
I for example still remember playing a Mage in BG2 because all his spells were perfectly balanced compared to all the other classes.
How are wizards in this game?
They're one of the best classes.
do you think that's an argument
i mean it sort of is if the devs design encounters around mages being powerful. balance is fine too so whatever
>the devs design encounters around everyone using mages all the time
that isn't good
The problem with balance is that it requires you to severely limit either (a) flexibility of character creation; (b) the scope of gameplay; or (c) both. Many advocates of balance will attempt to degrade the concept of “flexibility” as being the “freedom to play a weakling”. While it certainly can mean that, flexibility more usefully means “I want to focus my character creation resources on gameplay X versus gameplay Y”. The inherent imbalance of flexibility becomes apparent when you realize that different games will feature different mixes of gameplay types. A simple example of this is the difference between a game focusing on lots of melee fighting in the tightly confined quarters of a typical dungeon (favoring Conan) and a game focusing on lots of ranged fighting in the wilderness (favoring Robin Hood). Certain types of games allow the spotlight balance between fighters and wizards to skew one way or the other. Let’s make this an extreme example: If you’re playing in a game with little or no combat, a fighter is less useful. If you’re playing in an entirely urban campaign, druids and rangers become less useful. If you’re playing in a campaign taking place entirely within an area of antimagic, wizards become less useful. There’s no way to “balance” the fact that fighters aren’t very effective in games where there isn’t any combat without either (a) disallowing people from playing a fighter (limiting the flexbility of character creation) or (b) disallowing campaigns that don’t feature a lot of combat (limiting the scope of the game). This is why many proponents of balance often focus exclusively on a character’s combat effectiveness: By narrowing the scope of the game to a single type of gameplay (combat), balance becomes possible.
What the fuck.
I'm still angry. If the Fig happened one fucking month earlier I'd have gotten a 600+ tier.
...
its fine
>there are people who seriously think that poe is balanced and not just designed like dogshit to make it severely unfun and limiting
Wizard tanks alone shit on every notion of "balance" you can find.
>it's fine for wizards to be mad overpowered, just use them all the time
>Tfw bought it a couple months ago
>First cRPG
>Totally overwhelmed by the priest and mage companions, have no idea how to efficiently use their skills or level them up
>Basically no idea what I'm doing when upgrading stats/perks when leveling up anyone, including myself
>Got the fourth companion and I'm getting shit on by unlimited ghosts and shit
>Haven't progressed in a month since I lost motivation to play
I could just tell I was making super fucking inefficient level ups, there's no way those ghosts are meant to fuck my shit up that bad
I barely fucking understand how health v endurance works
"Sterile" is a really good word to describe PoE.
>there's no way those ghosts are meant to fuck my shit up that bad
No, you're supposed to get raped by all the ghosts.
you just need one my dude and enemy mages are powerful too, it balances out.
>had more fun with a custom adventurer party than with the premade companions
I'm gonna do it again in deadfire.
