You can just emulate them with XEBRA.
May not be the best, but its the easiest, and the games don't look terrible on there or anything.

on a playstation

fyi both legends have a pc ported version, but 2 is jap only.

the right way ... what kind of bullshit thread is this?

why, buy an expensive copy on ebay of course!

>tfw played them when they came out so long ago

There was nothing like them. They felt so huge. It had actual lore and backstory to care about. Before MML I just played a game and be done with it. I played beyond just the gameplay. I was playing for more than that. I wanted to play to see what would happen next in the story.

Megaman Legends made me care about lore.

>doesnt even have the N64 version

yeah i dont care what a nigger has to say

Comfy on a Vita

Play em on PS1, emulated, or on PS3/Vita.
Legends is the first one, Legends 2 is next, then play Misadventures of Tron Bonne if you want more.

MML1 doesn't use analog controls since they weren't available on the PS1 until after this game came out, so be ready. It's clunky but worth it.

I'm an expert on these games and haven't played every main Mega Man game, so listen to what I have to say.

Mega Man Legends is best on the PS1 (unless you can read moon runes for the PSP version) because the N64 version has shitty draw distance, poorly compressed audio that hurts my ears, fewer audio files to the point you can no longer listen to music in the CD shop along with the ending music being gone, poorly compressed music compared to the godly CD audio in the PS1 version, and some censorship.

The same applies for MML2, PS1 version unless you understand Japanese.

Now, do not play MML1 on original hardware or the PS2/3 no matter what. You cannot remap controls on them at all and there is no analog support.

Playing the games on Vita either via homebrew or downloading from the PSN store for cheap is vastly preferred to playing it on PSP since the Vita has a right analog stick, though Vita or PC is the best version to play the games (there is some minor lag in the apple market of MML1 for Vita but other than that it runs smoothly for the entire game)

Here are the control schemes you want to map:

Assuming the left is the PS1 controller and the right is a PS4 controller or Vita then...

Mega Man Legends 1:
D-pad up = Left-analog up
D-pad left = Left-analog left
D-pad right = Left-analog right
D-pad down = Left-analog down
X = X
Square = Square
Triangle = Triangle
Circle = Circle
L1 = Right-analog left
R1 = Right-analog right
R2 = R/R1
Start = Options/Start
Select = Share/Select

Mega Man Legends 2:
Same as Mega Man Legends 1 but make sure to set L2 to L/L1 and keep the D-pad as D-pad and left-analog as left-analog since MML2 actually has analog support in the PS1 version unlike MML1.

To emulate it, the PSN store has it for PS3/Vita and you can use an emulator on PC which lets you map the controls. For the Vita you will have to hold down PS to bring up the control mapping (might be different if you use a homebrew app)

and have played every main Mega Man game* (this includes Classic, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, and Starforce. Id call MM my favourite game franchise by a mile TBQH)

If you're using an emulator on PC, I'd rec ePSXe for it. Make sure to download DS4W if you want to use a PS4 controller on it, as well. I like setting the light on the controller to cyan when playing Mega Man Legends since it's comfy and fits the world full of water setting and main character's appearance.

Misadventures of Tron Bonne is on PSN as well, the game is rare as fuck and worth a pretty penny physically so honestly just download it and I'd say to play it after 1 and 2.

2 is way better if you play 1 first, especially since it might be hard to go back to 1 afterwards for some people.

Also, in general if you haven't questions about classic games, it's better to make threads over on /vr/

The board is focused solely on retro video games and since it's a slower board, each thread has a chance and it's a great place to ask for help. I frequent it, I don't personally visit Sup Forums much but I happened to find this while looking for that Chrono Trigger thread.

Think that covers just about everything. Enjoy the games, user!

Oh yeah, and I know ePSXe is a bitch to set up since it doesn't come with any of the plug-ins it needs last I checked so holler if you need a pre-packaged download of it or anything. It'd even be zipped so you can run an anti-virus scanner on it if you don't trust the download.

Could you gibe the zip?
It'd be a big help.

Sure thing bud: ufile.io/8zkqh

Be sure to select USA bios (SCPH1001.bin) and the correct CD ROM plugin (epsxe cdr wnt/w2k core 1.7.0) in the config

thanks pal!

Don't play the PC port lol, it's bad. Emulate the PS1 version.

You're welcome. Remember to stop by /vr/ if you ever have more questions about retro games and want a board that knows its shit, lol

play the first one on the n64.

This user is also correct. The cutscenes being butchered alone is enough to kill the enjoyment, the characters and dialogue are my favourite thing about the series

The draw distance is important for this game though. The N64 graphics look slightly less jaggy if you compare them side by side but the terribly compressed audio, censorship like the pig poster, awkward aiming controls, fewer available buttons, removed music, and especially poor drawing distance make it very evident why Mega Man Legends on PS1 received far higher scores from critic and fans alike than Mega Man 64.

Who the fuck was the darkskinned girl in 2?
I beat the elephant in 2 and got to the cut scene where a naked dark girl popped out of a capsule or something and my mom saw and freaked out. Never got to play it since.

Sera

...

why do you have to put you hand in every fucking picture you take of playstation game? You're a literal sonybro

There's a pc version of 1 out there. Try that.

2 is only on PS1 so just emulate that shit.
