JAPPOS CAN'T CODE
FFXV is a mess. KojiPro managed to make a prettier game run 60 fps on PS4.
Embarrassing for SE. They can't even make a proper engine anymore. They should just use whatever the Tomb Raider devs use instead. That one works fine.
FF15 engine is made by the same French programmer that made he FOX Engine.
Thing is, said programmer explicitly said, this engine is NOT made for open world. It was made much earlier for Versus which wasn't open world.
But Tabata clearly knew better :^) fired the French programmer and decided to make the game open world on an engine that wasn't designed for open world.
Bravo Tabata.
Tabata is ambitious and incompetent both at the same time.
>Tabata is responsible for making XV open world
>Versus wasn't open world
Nice meme
This. Last time I played a jp mmorpg 3-4? years ago, if a single player switched to one of 10 specific weapons it would make everyone's game freeze for 1 second. It took them 1~ year to fix it.
It wasn't, it was open-level like for example Pulse in FF13. It's a substantial difference.
He is.

Prove it.

>“Initially, I wanted to make everything open world,” Tabata tells SBS PopAsia. “However with this being our first attempt at creating an open world, we realised that would be impossible when taking into account the amount of time required in developing the technology and contents for that.”
>“In game development, it’s always essential to clarify what we’re going to, or not going to, implement from both a technology and work-based perspective. So the moment I decided that we were going to make Final Fantasy XV an open world, I had to make the decision to remove Nifelheim from that open world.”
>So the moment I decided that we were going to make Final Fantasy XV an open world
>So the moment I decided that we were going to make Final Fantasy XV an open world
>So the moment I decided that we were going to make Final Fantasy XV an open world
>Yet, for Tabata-san it seemed appropriate for an RPG set in a story in which you travel the world to be actually open word. There was also the fact that at one time in the past Final Fantasy was seen as the cutting edge in RPG, and the aim was to get back in that condition. An open world setting is a good way to convey that modernity.
>A few months after the announcement at E3 2013, just after the team had merged with the Luminous Studio team, many within the engineering team thought that, with Square Enix’s know-how, making the game open world was unreasonable.
Good to know, i stand corrected then.
Versus was never going to be open world, it was literally meant to be a prototype testbed for KH3 initially and in all the Nomura-era early gameplays of Versus we saw it basically played like Kingdom Hearts 2 but obviously with a realistic rather than cartoony style and with better graphics and bigger levels.
Nomura even went on record to say he's using ideas from his old Versus and putting them in the upcoming KH3.
I don't know where this meme that Versus was open world came from, since anyone that actually followed the game since its unveiling knew it was never open world.
Open world was one of the first major changes that Tabata made when he took over, same with the road trip which also was Tabata's idea and wasn't in Versus. Those two were some of the very first major changes that Tabata made.
60FPS DOES NOT FIX A BAD GAME
BENCHMARKS DOES NOT FIX A BAD GAME
PRETTY SCREENSHOTS DOES NOT FIX A BAD GMAE
NOTHING WILL FIX FFXV JUST GIVE UP. IT'S SHIT JUST LIKE FFXIII
Tabata was a mistake.
So was Nomura too for that matter. FF has been too long at the hands of emo self-loathing and just plain incompetent directors.
FF13 is unironically a much better game because it has better combat and is actually finished.
The visuals in FF13 are also a lot more consistently better whereas FF15 is extremely inconsistent with some things looking great and some looking like an early PS3 game/late PS2 game.
I just remember XV already passing the impression of open world much before Tabata taking over. Like after Versus name change to XV and before the director swap.
Sadly this
Tabata had literally 0 experience with big projects.
His only experience before coming to FF15 was a couple Java mobile games from pre-smartphone era and the few Squeenix PSP games namely Crisis Core, 3rd Birthday and Type-0 all three of which by the way were quite awful and the first two taking a big fat shit on the source material (FF7 and Parasite Eve respectively).
Can I fucking play as Aranea yet?
Nomura hasn't been on the project since early 2014, so already before it got changed to FF15.
They just haven't announced the director swap until after name change to not cause PR damage.
The name change to XV was basically when Versus was done and finished. Tabata was brought along as co-director to replace Nomura without pissing off fans.
Tabata also claimed FFXV was Versus until people played the game and called him out on his bullshit then he said they were two separate things.
SE is just bizarre. They wanted their cake and eat it too. Very embarrassing in a gen actually filled with quality Japanese games made on reasonable budgets and deadlines.
Have they come out with a price for the Royal Edition DLC yet? Apparently it won't be $20.
m-mods will fix it, maybe, if there is some autist who recreates versus
