What's your opinion on the gpd win 2?
What do you plan to play on it when it gets shipped?
What's your opinion on the gpd win 2?
Must be a bitch to play fighter games with that d-pad.
Eh, maybe, but the gamepad portion of the device is switched by ALPS (the japanese switch company that makes dualshock 4s, older-gen thinkpad keyboards and such) so it ought to feel pretty fucking good
I'm very skeptical. Windows is awful enough on a regular screen.
Is there a proper shell for that kind of use?
I suppose I could put all the games I play on the full-screen metro tiles and only use those when I don't have an external screen handy.
dpi scaling settings dawg
No.
Nononononononono.
Not after having owned a Surface Pro 3.
Seems retarded.
It’s basically the switch gimmick, but on a platform not designed for it.
I’ll stick with my desktop, and just be a dumb phone poster if I get bored when out and about.
GPD Win 2 or the Pyra?
Not strong enough
>pyra
>dragonbox pyra
>the shitty handheld ARM UMPC that made SO many fucking sacrifices to stay ""open source hardware"", such as using a shitty overpriced TI ARM APU from 2011
>still uses a proprietary powervr graphics chip that doesn't even have open source drivers at all
>max 4gb ram, resistive touch screen
vs
>gpd win 2
>the admittedly-chinky-but-performant 8gb ram pocket pc gaming champ
>8gb ram and a 2018 x86 chip that will run all the software you already own
>for cheaper than the pyra
I hate germans
Will the original go below/around 150$ you think once the new one comes out?
It would be a viable switch alternative if it wasn't so expensive.
poorfags not allowed
can i upgrade it to win7?
I used to have an Xperia Play and I had lots of fun with it playing emulated games.
But that device had shit specs (it couldn't even run Playstation 1 games properly) and a shit battery life (3 hours while gaming), so it wasn't really good for anything.
I'm glad this phone is leaps forward from that turd.
yeah
and linux, the only thing that didn't work on existing xubuntu out of the box was that the cursor mirroring of touch screen inputs seemed to be rotated.
>phone
ok, never mind. No interest in it then.
It's kind of like a laptop, except for retards.
Yeah it's actually better than the switch.
No neo nintendo games that don't have any difficulty.
On my system I can emulate to GameCube and Wii and ds
I wouldn't do Wii because that's when Nintendo started to suck major ass.
But there is literally 1000s of games I can play
And romhacks
And netplay
Another thing Nintendo does not support
Any indie game pretty much on steam is free game.
I'd set up a simple version of wow tbc and play the fuck out of it.
Also I probably only like like 2 modern games with 3d graphics
All of them are let downs
Pretty stupid thing for people who do not get what a handheld is for.
what's it for?
Retro indie and probably games 4 to 5 years ago and the most modern at the lowest graphics settings.
The Intel graphics chip in the GPD Win 2 should have open source drivers as well if you want to run Linux on it.
Reportedly it does that very well if you want to run it as a dedicated big picture / retroarch handheld.
Can't help shake the feeling they should have waited a bit longer though, the lowest end Raven Ridge chip probably could have fit into the power/thermal requirements and been much more of a step up in terms of graphics performance.
Especially on Linux with the third party graphics driver stacks.
>Retro indie and probably games 4 to 5 years ago and the most modern at the lowest graphics settings.
So it's literally a switch but with more games and freedom.
No because here
