I think it's still smart to be wary of the general risks of crowdfunding, but some solid projects have come out here and there that keep me from giving up on it completely.
I wouldn't get your hopes up. It was made on a different crowdfunding platform the Mr Shitface was a big member of.

I loved the first game, but I wonder where they go from here. They covered most of the big mental disorders in the first game.
Pretty sure he wears the uniform under his new coat.
Which seems like a good way to blend the two designs.
The most obvious ones I can think of are dealing with Raz's family curse and Cruller's split personality disorder.
It made me chuckle to have him still on the team in Rhombus of Ruin.
He went from being the unstable maniac to being the blustering funny man of the group.
They covered a lot of famous mental disorders with the asylum characters, but I think there's a lot of potential with the idea of exploring general personality traits as well.
Like in how Sasha's repressive emotions are characterized through a tight monochrome cube. Or how Milla's mind is fast and loud and colorful, but with dark memories locked beneath the surface.
Plenty of places to go honestly, just less in the mental disorder area (except split personality) and more in the mental concept area. There's plenty of possibilities from monstrous minds to human minds under influence of substances, just weird people in general, etc. Also, character design is looking bretty gud.
My only concern watching this is that if the map gets too big that it'll start to feel empty. The camp was a good balance of size and content, having hidden items and places to discover, but a lot of characters and interactables that I liked to revisit while exploring.
So I hope they can capture that same feeling with the actual Psychonauts HQ.

Yep. Could cover more mundane stuff like alcohol, weed, various medications, could also cover less mundane things, such as in-world psychic drugs or even say, Psytanium and the like.

I like how Raz's family simultaneously looks really flamboyant and inventive, but still kind of hard-up with makeshift patchwork clothing and the like.
I feel like they'll build up fixing Cruller's mind as an incredibly dangerous or volatile process, considering that Sasha and Milla haven't done it already.
God damn do I need this game, but I will pretend I don't so i'm not as disappointed if it fucking sucks

We know that there's going to be a new power or two thrown in, but we don't know what we'll start out with.
I wouldn't mind starting out with levitation from the start though. The first game's platforming didn't pick up for me until we were bouncing around and floating with that.

Went back and got rank 101 a few weeks ago on steam. It was a little frustrating finding the last figment on a level, but no worse than the next game with large levels and collectibles.

I've probably played the game three times, but I've never found the motivation to get every figment during Milla's race.
It has more lore than I expected for a cartoony 3D platformer anyhow.

That was the worst one by far, the figments blend into the floor (the bowl shaped one below the place where you learn about environmental hazards...with the charge boost thing) and are hidden really well on the race course. It didn't take more than an hour though, definitely worth it if you've got love for the game.
I wonder if we'll have clairvoyance in the sequel from the start. It was a fun way to get a hint about how characters secretly felt about Raz, but I wonder if it would spoil things having it too early on.
This is seriously the most overrated Tim Burton shit game out there. You guys need to take the rose tinted goggles off lol.

That's why Sasha is so repressed. I think you're missing the point of the thing. Imagine if you had psychic powers and could read your parents' thoughts...it would probably be a little disturbing. Besides that it's mirroring our own real life experiences that shape us into who we are.
I thought Loboto was straight up Dr. Finkelstein when I first saw him.
Am I the only one who thinks that the world looks somewhat too realistic compared to the first one? Or is it like a very early build and they will be changing the designs up a bit yet? Other than that looks solid though.
The issue is aggravated by him being a fairly young when he was looking to learn a little bit more about his mum before accidentally stumbling into completely unfiltered thoughts/feelings of her during sex. So now he's all about control and emotional structure to avoid missteps like that again.
Hopefully his time with people like Milla lightened him up enough to patch things up at some point.

It's probably not finalized, but I like the look of the characters and twisted plant shapes well enough.
Hoping there are more colorful areas as well, but I'll reserve judgment for when we actually see what the different mental worlds are like.
And Sasha is yearning for motherly love which Mia yearns to give because she lost all those orphans. In reality they're problems probably just fuck each other up and make for a screwed up relationship which is why they try to keep it professional (although there is of course a burning passion beneath it all)

I liked their interpretation of what the old campgrounds would look like with the new visuals, but that was just an early art test.

There's a game that tried aping the Loboto look for all it's characters. Neat little romp, wouldn't pay more than 10$ for it cause it is really short.
I like to think that it's less that she's trying to hide it and drown things out, and more that she just has control over it. She knows it's there, she gives you fair warning about it, it's not that she's ashamed or afraid of someone finding out (you're in her head, how much can she really expect to hide?) it's just that she's accepted it and locked it away where it's not eating away at her all the time.

I'm torn on visuals like this, because I'm all for people experimenting with unconventional character design and art styles, but most of those characters look rather ill, which puts me off a bit.

It's for one quick scavenger hunt puzzle and then it's only good for tickling your goth girlfriend.

I stopped playing Psychonauts after killing that swamp monster at the camp. Should I keep playing?
Yeah, I think it's more a matter of keeping expectations reasonable. It doesn't help to over-hype anything, especially after so many years.
But I'm still letting myself think that it can at least do something interesting with the idea, even if it doesn't manage to top the first game.

I want to play this game so much, but I'm just not accustomed to playing action games or games with joystick in mind.
Same thing with Dark Souls or my whole PS1 backlog I never get to playing.
You do realise that this is available on PC and can be played with keyboard and mouse without any issues? I completed it this way numerous times.
Same with Dark Souls. "Hurr, how can you possibly play it with a keyboard" is just a meme, the game indeed does play better with a pad, but kb+m is completely viable as well.
