Give me one reason why I should play on anything but the lowest difficulty

Give me one reason why I should play on anything but the lowest difficulty.

Games are entertainment products, if you view them as achivements to be conquered you're pathetic. You didn't conquer shit, you just wasted your own time to gain a sense of smug satisfaction.

>Games are entertainment products
And they are much more entertaining on higher difficulties. Why do you hate fun?

Challenging games are enjoyable. Easy games are boring as fuck.

Play in whatever way you have the most fun, user.
To me the risk and reward are part of the fun. If you like having things handed to you like a baby bird being fed vomit, go for it.
I hope you enjoy the vomit.

Games are a meant to be a challenge to your motor and mental skills
Might as well watch TV or read a book

"challenging" games are boring.

If I die in a game its a failure of the game designer. Games should be challenging sure, but not to the point where you're constantly dying and bashing your head against a wall. That's not fun.

get good

Because overcoming challenges launches more fun chemicals inside your brain unless your brain stopped developing when you were 12.

Yeah. It's the development studio's fault. You don't suck. The game sucks.

>why I should play on anything but the lowest difficulty.
Well if games were like ME1. It would be fun.
>Do everything on casual. Gains levels and items to the make.
>Start a new playthrough on harder difficultly.
>Have all the elite stuff and levels.
>Tear through hardest difficultly with ease.

Dying can be annoying but it feels great to get by by the skin of your teeth.
Too hard is bad.
Too easy is bad.

If you're entertained by not being challenged, good for you. Play on easy mode, that's why it's there.

Why should you read a book when you can watch the movie or read the footnotes?

I stop enjoying games when I become too powerful or they become too easy.

Get a life bitch boy.
Sadly you can't choose easy mode on real life, sucks doesn't it?

>no easy mode irl
I can already see the replies.

medium is the only good choice
easy isn't fun
hard isn't fun
but medium is just you vs. the game, with neither side getting any advantages

>Why should you read a book when you can watch the movie or read the footnotes?

Well...why should you?

If someone can condense all the important shit into a movie then why bother with a book?

If you want to play a walking simulator, by all means, go ahead.

>play on easy
Run in, blammo blammo, you win. Game over. Feel meh because you just did the equivalent of watching a shit movie.

>play on hard
Run in, blammo blammo, you die. Do it again. Die again. Stop to think about it for a while. Try another tactic. Die horribly. Think some more. Die some more. Eventually come up with a tactic that works. Game over, you win. Feel awesome because you had to work for that victory.

because they're more fun on higher difficulties you fucking gay ass dick licking casual. I hope to God this is trolling

>Games are entertainment products
And for some people having a challenge in games is entertainment.

>"challenging" games are boring.
Only for you, subjectively.

>Games should be challenging sure
>constantly dying
What now?
Is challenge good or not?

You are not the person that defines the gold standard for challenge in games.

>If someone can condense all the important shit into a movie
But they cant. A lot of people who read books always complain how the movie was missing things or sometimes something just happened the complete opposite way because film directors thought it was better.

i'm not telling you how to play your games, and i don't have anything against people playing on easy mode if they can't/don't want to handle a challenge, but listen: the absolute fundamental essence of video games is literally to git gud. It has always been and forever will be.
If you know what the allegory of the cave is: a philosopher who made it out of the cave would know that a video game is about getting good.
If you are unable to win, you are playing a video toy. If you are unable to play, you are watching a video. Video games cannot exist without it.

Correct answer

>Give me one reason why I should play on anything but the lowest difficulty.
why should i? why should i convince you otherwise? its your god damn video game play it however you want, why the fuck do you care otherwise? if people make fun of you tell them to just fuck right off down the street. just don't bitch at developers to remove hard modes or make skip combat modes because i and other people like them. if a game is designed towards people who like hard games then don't play them or use a trainer.

GIT
U
D

you don't even end up using the game mechanics on easy
you might as well just watch a youtube video at that point

Give me one reason why I should play sports against anyone but the lowest retards.

Sports are entertainment products, if you view them as achivements to be conquered you're pathetic. You didn't conquer shit, you just wasted your own time to gain a sense of smug satisfaction.

were you trained to say this after you were forced to retake kindergarten?

Adversity breeds ingenuity
Complicity breeds apathy

Plus, many games used to hide parts of the game on lower difficulties

>play on easy
level starts, you win. feel meh because no sense of accomplishment
>play on hard
level starts, you lose. exploit the cheapest tactic there is or go and grind for hours then come back and win, feel meh because you've been wasting a lot of time.
>play on normal
level starts, and it's already a blast. you're playing the game as the developer intended you to, everything's perfectly tuned and balanced with enough challenge and leeway free for you to choose from. you finished the game, you're feeling fucking great and instead of playing on hard you proceed to have coplulate with your three girlfriends.

Hot take - play on whatever setting makes you happy, and stop caring what other people think. Also, if you care about the levels any one else plays at, especially as a means to make yourself feel better, you're a shit.

Literally the only time it matters is of there's some sort of competition, or money involved, then everyone plays on level ground.

>this thread
Nice bait OP. About 5/10. Too transparent, but easily believable on the grounds that some people seriously say stuff like that unironically.
Getting a twitter screencap of that phrasing would improve your score by a couple points.

>hard sucks and requires abuse
Or maybe you just suck. But yes there are SOME games that do hard difficulty bad. Like nu-Wolfenstein you die so very fast if you're playing on the hardest that you have to hug cover all the time.

I need not justify myself nor try to persuade casual scum.

If you don’t experience failure you will never improve

>medium
A pussy-man, afraid of going all in. He's insecure, most likely a manlet.
>hard
A neckbeard fatso, the only thing bigger than his ego is his ass-swamp. Compensates for his inability to achieve anything in real life with turning entertainment into masochistic drag.
>easy
Patrician, realizes that he'll beat any single-player game eventually. Doesen't bother with other dificulty levels, beats the game and moves on in search of another challenge.

Depends on how the difficulty is done. If harder is Im a bullet sponge and do more damage. Than its not really interesting. If its new mechanics now we have something

great thread

yeah but literally nobody does that anymore and it will never happen again

Depends if hard mode is just bullet sponge enemies while you have paper defense.

>super easy/casual/beginner/amateur/retard mode
He transcends the gods. He beats forty games a day. He's a living video game encyclopedia. He still has enough time to participate in other earthly activities, like quantum physics, extreme sports and increasing the world's population at a terrifiyng pace.

>seriously responding to this bait using the age old failure of the game designer meme

not as great as this 3

Greater rewards ingame

Unless it's arbitrary like an achievement, then no, i cant convince you otherwise

There is literally no reason unless you get extra cool shit for doing it

what's the point in improving at something that doesn't actually matter though?

...

...

>why I should play on anything but the lowest difficulty.
Well for bragging rights really. Well that is how it used to be. Like with Gears Of War. When 360 was the big thing. Everyone was gunning for getting insanity achievement because you could compare with other players. But now there isn't much reward anymore. Yeah maybe a secret ending here and there. But again not much reward for harder difficulties these days
