What are some games i can play on a laptop during long haul flight?
I'm considering turn based games like Civilization 5, X-COM or maybe emulate some PSX JRPGS like Valkyrie Profile and FF Tactics.
Or i could bring a switch and go bing bing wahoo wahoo

If you're willing to spend, get endless space 2 or endless legend. Shit's like civ, but with nice art and story. Get comfy and lost in a magic world or space for a few hours.
Anthony Reed
Darkest Dungeon. Then turn up the volume and let everyone hear the tragic extend of your ancestor's failings.

If youre going pc route be sure its for something worth the real estate youll take up with elbow room. Using pc on flights is unbearable. Comfy games like skyrim but your choices are limited.
Best bet is smartphone combined with keyboard or controller. If you are going to emulate psp or less, why not on android?
Resident evil psx versions, code veronica dreamcast, parasite eve series, all on smartphone emulatorz
Nicholas Adams
my laptop has this gimmick to turn into a tablet and i might bring a xbox controller if i go psx route.
share your flight stories and what sort of game you carve when you're bored on a 10 hours flight?

Stardew valley on the bing bing wahoo machine is pretty good and darkest dungeon as well.

Using the keyboard and touchpad sounds horrible on a plane, mouse isn't really an option. Try going the gamepad supported games route, if not look into a Steam Controller. You can find one for about $40 and I hear they're great for older PC RPGs designed for a mouse interface and RTSs. Make sure you set it up at home first, I think it works by defaulting to the most popular community control scheme if you're running off of Steam.

Flights are cramped. Smartphones like the samsung s6 are a blessing, even the moto x because they can handle psp and others. You dont have to deal with space management for refreshments or adjustments bathroom breaks. 10 hour flight may suggest games that are more action orient to balance your sitting hours. If you got pills like ambien or painkillers or qualludes, it makes the experience better. Exploreation games are good too. Full on Rpgs tend to drag out or burn you out especially with all that reading. rpgs arent meant to be a one sitting occassion and more so a 3 hour session schedule. Games like mh freedom are nice to complement your trip with breaks inbetween, its active and engaging with micro management. Resident evil 2 or 3 are good because you can do it in once session with extras and management. Platformers 2d are terrible due to your physchology of confined space and one route gameplay in a flight trip. Try racing games.

Fucking christ I remember when I was a kid and would take my laptop and a fucking flight stick on planes, boot up Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then fly the route that we were really doing in the same plane we were in in real time I'd even do a little bit of time acceleration at the beginning to catch up from the time that I wasn't on because of the electronics rule and then accelerate again at the end to do the landing in time for the message to shut off electronics

Thats nothing. When i was a kid i would have legend of the hidden temple theme, the one where the contestants would run through the levels and give tokens to natives, in my head as i ran through the playground sets. There was also this a1 sauce commercial when i was 11 where the dude would stare at his dog and eat his steak and later be lapping up the sauce because its that good ad, i would imitate that commercial. As a kid, when i took showers i would spend my time reinacting titanic scenes of leonardo dicaprio running through the corridors with water splashing, i felt like i was in an action movie slow faux running in place. I would even hang on the shower curtain rod pretending it was some kind of ledge and lip out words like "hang on!!" as water showered down, i probably spent like 10 minutes in showers. Shower curtain rod gave out a few times on me while i was acting this shit. Parents got concerned a few times. During my last year of highschool i would smoke up and spend 10 minutes napping in the tub with hot water showering. This habit got out of control to the point where i would bring my watch in to keep time and have a pop tart within reach for effeciency because i slept in a few times.

Last time I was on an overnight flight I got really engrossed in Arcanum with headphones on. Didn't have a neighbor next to me so it was super comfy when they turned the lights to ambient.

I've never seen anyone bring out their laptop on a flight. Is that considered rude or uncultured? I don't want to embarrass myself.

Cuphead is completely playable with just the keyboard. I'd say Sonic Mania, but haha, Denuvo and being stuck on a plane. FTL would be fine enough on a touchpad. Also classic Doom 1 and 2. Honestly, a majority of the 3D games on PC require a controller or mouse, can't name too many good examples off the top of my head that are bearable with just the touchpad.

Desktop Dungeons La-Mulana Spelunky

Adding on to this, Street Fighter, Tekken, and Dragon Ball Fighterz should be playable on a keyboard. I tried Street Fighter X Tekken on a keyboard, worked fine.
Juan Campbell
Spleunky is nice for short bursts. There's also the free version.
