As a matter of fact, a Battle Royale mode would just be a glorified free for all death match, only bows and crossbows would be the ranged weapons and those have a far limited range compared to most guns, and their effective range would likely have a far greater disparity. Since, the majority of weapons in the game are melee, and there would be no parachuting in due to internal consistency, this means that the matches would descend to reenacting various Monty Python scenes, over and over again.
Maybe if you have the creative mind of a potatoe. These things could all be easily solved. I even have a few good ideas myself on how to solve the spawning in etc. A battle royale is not even close to a mindless deathmatch.
