No fucking Last Stand, just uninstalled it.
Was the only thing I was waiting for. Fuck em.

Why don't they make an expansion for DoW 1 or 2 then?
A man can dream.
I was still suprised to find out about 1's good numbers tho
2>>>>Fuck off with your sc clone crap
Good thing I didn't buy this shit because of Elites. I don't know if I can support any new 40k game, I would buy DoW 1/2 HD with mod support but that won't happen.
What a fucking joke I hope all the lead designers and admins that created this travesty of a game get castrated.
>"We’re working in close partnership with SEGA and Games Workshop to determine the best course of action"
how about make a real RTS fucking wankers
Where were you when Battlefleet Gothic is way better than DoW3 and it actually has an improved sequel?
Holy fucking JUST
>project lead Phillipe Boulle parted ways in September not just with DOW3, but with Relic as a whole. According to LinkedIn, he is now ‘Senior Narrative Producer’ at Capcom Game Studio Vancouver
Jesus, I thought dead rising couldn't get any worse
>Just upscale the battles from DoW1 with more modern graphics
Wow so hard
Last stand was best part of 2, and the only part of it anybody still plays.
Just look at this smug sack of shit twitter.com
it will always hurt.
DoW3, Fallout 4, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3.
Hurt
So why did DoW3 flop Sup Forums?
Didn't appeal to the fans of DoW 1, DoW 2 or new audiences.
>come on nigger, just make DOW combined with COH, shit shouldn't be hard
>proceed shooting themselves in the foot
WHY ALL OF MY FUCKING WHY
Chadmiral Spire wins again.
Did the same thing as DoW2 in an era when people can refund the games they've bought.
Simple as that.
>Steam, reports that, over the past 30 days, Dawn of War III had an active average player count of 403 at any one time.
I'm a television producer, so I come from a slightly different background......but whilst those aren't outstanding numbers for player retention, that's hardly fucking dead, not to mention it's had 40k unique players in the last two weeks, that's a committed fanbase.
Assuming you only managed to sell 40k units of an expansion, which I think is reasonable if you consider the active player base, those who might be inclined to return and check it out or even new adopters, that's an easy half a million gross if you charge $15-$20 bucks for the expansion.
That's more than enough to fund half a dozen devs for six months of solid development on an expansion and if they just focus on quality content based on what the existing community wants rather than marketing or other expensive frills that's easily doable and quite likely to draw more players in.
Thank God, this thing deserved to flop. At least it shows there are still some people with taste in the world
Maybe if they didn't try to piggy-back StarCraft 2, simply take the best elements of both previous DoW games, have 4 factions instead of 3 on start, not introduce from the get-go a multiplayer/skirmish mode that was essentially a not!MOBA, and made it less micro and more macro, worked on it longer, then the game would've been much better.
Now because of what happened, Relic is one step from closing if they won't produce something that will be good.
remember the first time you saw the trailer?
All those memories lost like tears in the rain.
Dead rising may be in trouble too, they just laid off a dick tonne of devs
But....but...Necron expansion!
This. Don't try to reinvent the wheel retards, just make another one with a system similar to DoW1. Just upgrade the graphics, fix the AI and throw in some new units and shit for it to feel fresh and it will sell like hotcakes
this is especially true because RTS appreciators are suffering a famine right now due to the oppressive popularity of retard-MOBA genre
Why not take it to the next level:
DOW1 gameplay
COH1 environment interaction
DOW2 customization
Shit would have been glorious
...
Because it would be expensive to make and there isn't a big enough market for it
>Make good games
>Get sold to SEGA
>Make a crime against humanity
Really gets the noggin' joggin'
Perfect games aren't allowed to exist.
because relic are a bunch of canadian nu male soy boy cucks, women, trannies and minorities.
I do.
Holy fuck, yeah, remember the hype threads? It was all over Sup Forums and /tg/ alike. They absolutely nailed the aesthetic in the trailer (skinnymarines aside) then completely fucking ruined it in the game itself.
What a disaster.
Surely a bigger one than for the abomination that was DoW3, a game that tried appealing to DoW1 fans, DoW2 fans, MOBA fans an 40k fans in general all at once and ended up being appealing to nobody. Sometimes aiming at a somewhat niche market instead of trying to please everyone is a good idea, especially when this market has been neglected for years and is starving for new products
>DoW1 Gameplay
>DoW2 Customization
>Official aditions of the UApocalypse mods.
>Main Campaign Story like SpaceMarine
>Commander dialogues like Dark Crusade
>Side campaign like Dark Crusade
>Orbital support options added to all factions.
I miss good RTS.
>That's more than enough to fund half a dozen devs for six months of solid development on an expansion and if they just focus on quality content based on what the existing community wants rather than marketing or other expensive frills that's easily doable and quite likely to draw more players in.
6 isn't enough people, for one thing. 24-48 is more reasonable. GW also has expectations and their own interests in how the 40k universe is presented.
They gambled and lost. Important to know when to cut your losses, especially in an industry that relies on strong launches to grow audiences.
...
6 would be more than enough given the bulk of the work is already done.
1 project lead, 2 programmers, 2 designers, 1 in studio artist who would oversee any artwork they freelanced out.
Everybody was so excited and happy and then the first screenshots hit and everybody started either panicking or hoping for the best while fearing for the worst. Hype was deflated faster than the Hindenburg.
>tfw still no game where you can play as AdMech
Dammit, I'll even take Sanctus Reach tier gameplay as long I can field Skiitaris
I'll still say to this day that the graphics were pretty nice but once they showed off the MOBA style gameplay. I was fucking livid
Holy shit, this. And those few fucking faggots who apparently never seen 40k in their life who kept posting "What are you grimdark fags crying about?1 They' have posted a screen at night, it's dark now, u satisfied? :D"
They had ONE(1) fucking job. Make a proper RTS similar to DoW1 with a good 40k atmosphere(which they apparently know how to construct since all their previous games were good in this aspect). They knew damn well what everyone was expecting from them and yet they fucked up literally everything they possibly could on basic design level.
HOW?
>HOW?
Well, they did get sold under new management. SEGA could have demanded something more mass-marketable.
Nobody liked it since the first gameplay trailers.
>make game no one wants to try and appeal to e-sports
>don't listen to your fanbase when they tell you that no one wants this kind of game
>release game
>no one wants it
wooow dood how did this happen it's such a shock for us devs, nothing we could do *snort* ack ack ack
I don't get why would they even make it mass marketable.
40k is a niche series and RTS is already a niche genre, trying to make it esports shit will kill it.
You're making me hurt on an existential level.
>intentionally making every game in the series completely fucking different and doesn't have any appeal to your existing fanbase
>Also fuck up any lore to make sure that everyone is annoyed
>Repeat untill series is dead
>Why do business suits make decisions based on market data
It's all about the profits for them. They don't care if the game is good or not, just as long as it sells. And the word on the street at the time was that moba type games sell, so that is what they demanded from Relic.
It's amazing how fucking out of touch with their audiences the devs can often be. Nobody wanted this shit and yet they kept on pushing it.
To not look far it's same shit that caused Paragon to die just recently. For 1,5 year the playerbase kept clearly telling them "No, we don't want this shit, this is retarded, bring back X" about every dumb change they made, even wrote petitions and shit and then it is "Oh, we're so sorry, we tried our best, but we have to inform you that we're forced to close the game, much sad :("
Are they just so stubborn and overconfident that it blinds their common sense?
>Making an RTS in 2018
Well there's your problem. RTS is a shit genre that no one wants to play anymore. It's not the late 90's, pack that shit up.
Makes no sense because they also published Total Warhammer, which went Platinum on Steam.
I hope all you crybabies can admit there is nothing wrong with the game
>DOW1 gameplay
Sounds awful
I think you missed a couple of buzzwords, try again.
If they actually made an RTS at least the starving RTS fans would buy it. But this shit wasn't an RTS, it was an atrocious clustefuck hybrid of RTS, MOBA and who knows what else which literally nobody wanted to play
>Implying anyone wanted to play an RTS like DOW1
There are at leasts 5 people ITT who stated they would. Not claiming it would be some massive fortune making hit, but it surely wouldn't bomb as hard as it did as it did and would have at least some fanbase
>inb4 opinions of other anons don't count because I say so
Makes sense if you look at it from the perspective of sales. Total War has always sold well. Dawn of War has always been a series with a niche audience.
>DUUUUUUUUUUDE but what if we, get this... mixed dow 1 with dow 2?
CURRENT YEAR
