Why people think we're getting a new game over a port?

literally 0 proof that we're getting a new game.
the port is 100% guarenteed, i don't want new games.

Hang yourself.

give me reasons

People are just assuming that if it was a port, we would already have that damn game. The fact that they are taking their time to announce it lead people to believe that maybe the devs are working on a new entry.

If you thought the first sound effect you hear in Smash 4 being ripped straight from Brawl was lazy, then get ready for the next level in uninspired rehashes, continuing the good work begun by other Switch ports

Why would smash get a new game if mario kart doesn't?

There's not much proof we're getting a port instead either. Though considering how trigger happy they've been with porting, I'd have expected something by now, so a new game entirely is possible.

If Smash was getting a port, wouldn't we have heard something by now? This IP is huge, they'd want it out as quickly as possible to push system sales.

no it's not

You're right. I retract my entire post

If they were going to port, it 100% would have taken precedence over pokken and MK8, Smash is always a system seller and the Switch could have used that boost early on. Therefore, it's highly likely that it's either a _very_ enhanced port to the point where it's basically a different game, or it's a totally different game. Or there's no smash game in development at all.

it's how they're gonna push their online service

The port is going to be anounced in e3

A port for this would make much less sense than other Wii U games because it also had a 3DS release and the 3DS was not a dead console. Smash 4 sold 13 million.

>i don't want new games

No it won't my uncle's dad is Nintendo

Imagine wanting ports instead of new games.

the system was already selling well without smash.
Why put out a game that guaranteed to boost sales when the console is already selling well???

>wanting
>having a grip on reality
yeah ok.

>alright team, we've reached our sales quota! there is literally no reason to attempt to boost sales any further from this point, we're already making enough money.

Because the system launched with one game. It was worth buying for me, but Nintendo needed to sweeten the deal quickly. Smash would have been a good addition.

>This faggots are buying our console. lets pace our heavy hitters for when sales slow down, so those who were still on the fence come ruining.
lmao I love talking about business strategy with a bunch of 12 year olds.

You could have made that argument last year, but now it's pretty obviously wrong. Anybody who was on the fence either has one or is saving up for one.

I want a new game but I want the current game engine recycled rather than starting all over like they did from Brawl. For existing characters, just make little tweaks and maybe make custom moves actually differ from default movesets

Super Smash Bros for 3ds sold just 10,000,000m copies, the franchise is dead, move along

The man babies that like this game think that Nintendo will cater to them instead of the actual children the game is meant for

People just hate being on Nintendo time. You wait 5-7 years for a new game in the style you like and if it's not that then you'll have to wait another 5-7 to see if how they shake things up again. Say what you will about the Kirby franchise but at least the guy gets consistent releases and his spinoffs like Rainbow Curse don't cut in to when you're gonna see him again.

Link Between Worlds was in 2013, got amazing reviews, and they followed it up with a weird co-op game. Smash 4 is gonna be 4 years old this year and the shorter lifespan of the Wii U is the perfect opportunity to not hang people out to dry for over half a decade when it comes to Smash. 4 had a lot going for it with its roster, but I think the high demand for a totally new Switch game comes from it letting a lot of people down in other areas.

i want a new game or at least a new patch that smacks bayo and cloud in their stupid fucking faces.

>This IP is huge, they'd want it out as quickly as possible to push system sales.
"No". Do you not know of the 'tentpole' system? Your big releases sit on their own, that way they don't cannibalize the other games' sales. Their first year had to have new games that make a major show of critical validation (zelda) and sales (mario) to fit their resurgence narrative and not just continuing the wiiu. That left no space for Smash Bros, which IS a big deal holiday release type show. It fits perfectly into their second E3, especially considering the fact that announcing games that haven't even reached development yet with a "trailer" consisting entirely of a fucking logo means that the rest of their new games are actually a fair distance away.

how it's a big deal? it's a fucking port
