GTA IV was already my favorite when it came out. Too bad the Sup Forums-hivemind now likes it only because its better than V. They hated it back then and wouldn't stop crying about "muh open world" "muh boatphysix" "muh planes".

As someone who follows the series from gta2 days, can say that 4 is my total favourite when it comes to the new games, story and the city were simply gorgeous

Vice city/Stories & SA are the only worthwhile GTA's. 4 is fun for the physics but I never could bear to finish it. V is just impressive, online focused trash.

GTA IV had godlike sound design. Therefore it is better.

This. IV was my last GTA and I had no desire to play V after casually checking it out at a party.

I've said "when it comes to the new games". 2 is obviously the best from the old generation, it's a good arcade that you can simply pick up and play when you want. And SA is the best from the middle age, 3 and VC were mindblowing when they came out, but SA had enogh content and polished out formula that it's still playable, at least for me.

The amount of references was over the fucking roof, they really did a good job. Sad that the missions consisted mostly time races that became a real pain in the ass in the second half of the game. Almost got to Halloween level but dropped it in the end.

I played GTA 1 and 2 on PS1 when I was very little. I would bump into pedestrians and laugh my ass off when they swore at me

Maybe that's the truth, but must say, as someone who played them unmodded, have never seen a reason to complain in 4. Now that I think of it, there's no much to complain in 5 too, it's just boring compared to all other games, even gta2.

2 is still good imo, would make a perfect mobile game, much better game design than most modern mobile games has to offer.

Internet is much more distracting than any game could dream of being, my man. Games are just a pleasure in a free time, couldn't think of how they can take more than couple hours per day for me.

You better. IV is one of the worst offenders in optimization on PC. Back in the day, even top tier setups couldn't run stable 60fps @ 1080p.
