The best RPG ever made is literally $2 on Steam right now
What's your excuse?
The best RPG ever made is literally $2 on Steam right now
What's your excuse?
it looks too bad to play nowadays
Liar.
The fact that I didn't play it back when it was relevant.
Most older games with actual 3D graphics look absolutely horrible. You simply can't play them without having the appropriate nostalgia goggles at hand. I acknowledge that I only like many of my old favourite games as much as I do because I played them back when the graphics were revolutionary rather than garbage.
I own it in Steam and it doesn't even launch on my rig. Not a single pirated copy worked farther then the main menu as well.
High quality low poly textures look much better and pleasant to the eye than muh super realistic lighting cancer AAA
The looks aren't the problem, it controls like ass if you're not already used to it. It was only acceptable when it was new because bad controls were the norm.
...
shame it works like trash on modern hardware
>it controls like ass
it's also on sale on gog you cancerous individual
Like the game all you want, but lying about it having good controls is stupid.
Thats not Kotor...
I'll try it when i have the time, thanks. I hope it has better controls than the first one, cause i couldn't bear them when i installed it some time ago. It was absolutely horrendous, as if i was trying to drive a train instead of walking. I have no idea how i completed the game when i was in school, don't remember any problems like that at all.
Get the GoG version
Good joke. What's in second place? New Vegas?
>What's your excuse?
I already own the superior GOG version.
Judging by that picture this looks like ass.
my little brother just started playing gothic 1 and thinks it's the best game ever. i'm afraid he's going to be Sup Forums incarnate
What's bad about its controls?
Should I get Gothic 3 while I'm at it?
It's on sale for $2,50 or something, same goes for the addon, is it worth playing if I've already beaten Gothic 2?
RPGs are trash
...
I already played it before you were even born kiddo
Gothic is a soy version of Darklands
But I already played and beat it. It is the GOAT. Next thread thread pls.
CTRL+arrow keys for everything is stupid.
elex is so good guys, remember those comfy threads? check it out if you havent yet
...
Reminder that magic is the easy mode made for soyboys in every rpg
...
I got some enjoyment out of Gothic 3, but it's so bad compared to 1&2. Wouldn't really recommend it unless you absolutely want more of something similar to Gothic 2 even if it's bad.
How are they even comparable
Already have it. Remember it being a bitch to patch in order to make it work on Win10.
...
Wrong
Is it really that fantastic or just a case of the rose colored glasses?
...
>How are they even comparable
Same way meat and soy are comparable
...
$2 too expensive
I played them for the first time last year and I enjoyed them immensely. I've never had any issues with outdated graphics or archaic controls though.
...
Takes too much effort to even play
>download this!
>now download this and this and this and make sure they all have these super specific options and shit or it won't work at all and you'll have to start all over!
Okay I'll give it a try then. Was looking for another RPG because I just finished Fallout 2 for the first time (graphics and clunky interface didn't bother me either)
I played this game as a kid, tried playing it again a year or so ago and just couldn't get into it again. The character controls are just so fucking awful. I can still play Morrowind just fine but this shit is below me.
I can not fucking understand why people complain about the controls. It literally took me 10 minutes to get used to them and then they felt really enjoyable.
is this just another case of soy being involved?
kill yourself
It is. You really should cut down on the amount you consume and maybe you'll develop some standards.
Haven't played any of them, is that universe edition worth 5 bucks?
I already own the GoG version.
Besides, I've played those games for decades, I still have my G1/2 CDs somewhere too, there's not a whole lot I can get out of those anymore, even the L'Hiver patch for G2 isn't really enough for me to keep on playing it.
>started playing Gothic
>what the fuck are these clunky ass controls
>why is my retarded character swinging like an idiot and using his one-handed weapon with two hands
>mfw I went into combat after levelling up my one-handed skill
I bought it but it didn't work
only 1 and 2 are worth playing
is there a guide like this for gothic 1?
read all you need for Gothic 1 to work is systempack
How do I make it work on modern hardware
& windows 10
I have to dissappoint you. Actually the controls really suck. But you will get used to it. Its a really fun game.
You played gothic 1 too? I also played them for the first time about half a year ago and hated gothic 1 and didn't like gothic 2 much, but at least 2 wasn't as soulless as gothic 1. I wonder if I would like 3 since the fans hate it.
...
I played all three. Didn't finish 3 though.
You realize the wojacks made by that guy on /biz/ are a report magnet, right? Most people don't even get mad anymore, they just report an move on.
if it's so cheap why haven't (You) bought me gothic yet op?
read the controls in G2 are better than G1
I loved 1 and 2. When i played 3 it didn't annoy me and i got into it. It's not as good as 2 and that just disappointed all the hyped up people.
Gothic 3 is the oblivion of Gothic
The best one?
>eurojank games
no thanks
Yuck
dumbed down, soulless, with retarded mechanics and dull bland world, and the only good thing about it is "but it's comfy"
I don't know, the Dark Brotherhood questline alone made it better than the rest of the garbage games.
I liked Gothic 1 better. Something about the layout of the world map and how busy that first city was made me not enjoy it as much. After awhile I had so many different tasks to do that it all got muddled. First game felt more focused.
Make a guide for 1 and 3 now
>The best RPG ever made
That's not Planescape Torment
I haven't played it but I can tell it's one of those terrible games that aged like absolute shit like thief.
Great Visual Novel, shit videogame.
My excuse is that I bought it on a superior platform that actually guarantees and cares if it works on modern computers and for that price or lower.. (GOG)
>shit graphics
>looks like crap
>no thank you
How do Gothicfags justify the awful combat? Morrowind also has shit combat and its from the same era but at least it has a memorable world.
It's not best. It's fucking ultimate trash.
I'm a soyboy Zelda fag
It plays like shit for today's standards
Only those who played it back then can enjoy it now
The first Gothic was better
Patrician post
>today's standards
Are you trying to make a "current year" fallacy?
thats not divinity original sin 2
I hated these fucks and their forced dialog so much. Always killed them from a distance.
my excuse is I don't want to play a shit game
No, I'm saying I played it for the first time a few months ago and the controls were really weird compared to modern ARPGs
>What's your excuse?
I'm tired unmotivated husk of a human being that goes to work and straight to bed afterwards 5 days a week, that good enough for you?
Different doesn't mean bad, you say "today's standars" but what you really mean is "I just play derivative crap without a learning curve"
boring as fuck
>Caring about graphics
>At all
But why though
I've just checked gameplay video on Youtube and when I saw the graphics I vomited and turned off the video almost immediately, No thanks but the game is not even worth to pirate.
it's clunky, it hasn't aged well
Nope.
A game has to have decent graphics for me to get immersed. Doesn't mean "good" or "realistic", but dated graphics really fuck with my experience. Most old (S)NES games on the other hand aged fine, for example. 3D graphics just suck in that regard.
So not at all?
The controls are clunky, but the game is not unplayable. You are just too used to every third person game nowadays having the exact same control scheme. Getting used to different control schemes is sadly a skill lost to time for many people.
This is a shitty guide because it spoils alchemy completely. Finding out recipes and being rewarded for holding on to your expensive stuff was a great moment and you spoiled it for everyone new to the game.
>muh min max
Fuck your min maxing, it's not necessary to beat a fuckign single player game.
>You simply can't play them without having the appropriate nostalgia goggles at hand
That's your own anecdotal evidence, I didn't played Thief when it was released because I was 6, I have no trouble completing and loving it despite the horrible graphics so don't speak for everyone here who are looking to get into classics.
This post is stupid. You play video games for their mechanics.
