Why the fuck every single guild in every single MMO is like that?
Guild recruitment thread on forums
you joined a random mass invite guild and expected people to drop whatever it is they're doing to help you?
Join a smaller guild, those are usually more friendly
There are a lot of those guilds like that around unfortunately but there are still good guilds out there if you're willing to sift through the shit
This happened to me, but after I said I was looking for a newb-friendly clan on Warframe. I found a small one, but no one was talking.
With all the wikis, databases and other forums out there why would you need to ask for help? The only reason to be in a guild is it offers access to something not otherwise attainable.
Is that Bigfoot in the background?
>play a genre that specifically differentiates itself by putting "massively multiplayer" in the title
>lol why do you want to interact with other players?
Join a better guild. Most >newbie guilds tend to just acquire people that drop the game after a few weeks, or just have a ton of new players and very small amount of players that are on regularly.
No, that’s your mom
Millenials.
I needed help on a instance that is dead because no one queues for it anymore.
>mmo autists actually expect people to act this way online
kill yourself social anxiety faggot
To expedite finding other players, or because you're underleveled for certain content or maybe your build can't solo a certain boss. Maybe the wiki doesn't know the order of calculations or how rolls are made, or whether modifiers are multiplicative or additive.
Name one MMO today that's not multiplayer optional. Dungeon/raid finders may as well be running with 4+ bots.
Play PvP
I have a strict policy involving guilds that I join:
A. They must not approach me. When I am looking for a guild, I will find them. Guilds approaching players are either ghost-town shit guilds that have accomplished nothing, or gigantic monster guilds with thousands of members that do nothing together.
B. As previously stated, guilds must be within a certain member range. This varies from game to game, but in general, somewhere between 30-60 members is best in my experience.
C. They must not use discord for any reason. I fucking HATE this program with a passion and will not use it.
D. They must not require some retarded out-of-game forum account shit such as on enjin.com.
E. They must not require I give any personal contact information, including my real name. This includes images of me.
F. They must actually do things together, unless I am explicitly looking for a 'solo' guild to gain access to the perks without needing to interact with anyone else. Usually this includes raiding or PvP of some sort.
G. They must not allow shitters in the guild. This is where the vast majority of guilds fail.
H. There must be no favoritism towards long time members, real life friends of officers, or fellow guild officers. This stipulation also outlaws loot council systems, as such systems are extremely prone to cronyism.
As you can tell, I rarely join guilds in games.
You make very good points, but the way that you make them exudes autism.
>name one MMO today that isn't ruined by autistic anti-social fags
I got nothin
>C. They must not use discord for any reason. I fucking HATE this program with a passion and will not use it.
i dont see how you find ANY guild. you must never join a guild
>C. They must not use discord for any reason. I fucking HATE this program with a passion and will not use it.
I do not deny this. I am a high functioning autist.
>They must not use discord for any reason. I fucking HATE this program with a passion and will not use it
Same. I wish I could go back in time and murder the fucker who created this shit. Guild chats are dead becaue of this.
>PvP
lol
>Smaller guild of friends.
>Merc ourselves out to other guilds or territory PVP.
Either way, good luck finding a non-cancerous guild. God knows it ain't easy.
>C. They must not use discord for any reason. I fucking HATE this program with a passion and will not use it.
im the one who replied yo you about this, but im 100% with you on this. god fucking dammit do i hate discord and the like. i agree with you on most of your points.
>500 active players
aaaaand dropped
>it's a massively multiplayer online rpg
>but no one talks or roleplays
>and any multiplayer cooperation is done in structured closed off environments
Themepark "endgame" shitters ruin everything they touch.
>>but no one talks or roleplays
It's a shame no one roleplays in public anymore. I miss shitting on them and ruining it.
>H. There must be no favoritism towards long time members, real life friends of officers, or fellow guild officers. This stipulation also outlaws loot council systems, as such systems are extremely prone to cronyism.
I always hated this shit.
You're at least 10 years to late. The whole social thing was healthy in a time before wow.
Modern mmo design conditioned everyone to just chase markers. Now the masses follow the train leaving everything else on the side.
I never understood what was wrong with Discord. I only ever use it to chat with old friends and nothing more. And maybe occasionally talk to some guys on the server for an app I frequently use.
Is there some kinda of stealth malware or something? Is the service not good enough to handle guild raiding? Or is it that you just dont like how it took away from the native chat the game itself has?
I mean what's the point of having multiple voice chat software considering they all do the same thing, except some let you create private rooms or something for everyone involved to chat.
>I miss shitting on them and ruining it
People like you are the reason they stopped. You ruined what you loved
I don't quite why you hate Discord. Elaborate?
Where to even start with that piece of shit...
First of all it completely destroys any sort of in-game community, including chat channels. Secondly it has bullshit mindgame incentivization to keep it online at all times because of hurrr updates. Thirdly it's developed by the number one most cringeworthy retard meme spouting dumbshits I've ever seen. Fourthly its voice codecs are shit compared to ventrilo or teamspeak.
I could go on. Discord is fucking shit, only normie memers like it. Fuck that, and fuck anyone who uses it, and ESPECIALLY fuck anyone who restricts information to only being on that piece of shit. I can't count the number of times someone has said "hurr its on xyz discord" in response to a question that could be simply answered in one sentence.
They never used to be, blame LFG and all that shit that turned MMOs into basically singleplayer games.
>LITERALLY "it's popular so I don't like it"
so you read only one point and got triggered. got it
>gigantic monster guilds with thousands of members that do nothing together
That's where you're wrong.
La luz extinguida...
...
all that shit you refer to are weak individuals who lack the ability to get friends, so, in this modern world of ultra sensitivities devs need to acomodate those lesser persons, because they have the money they want
>move to city
>nobody gives a fuck about you in the sea of people
same shit
>modern world of ultra sensitivities
>C. They must not use discord for any reason. I fucking HATE this program with a passion and will not use it.
BASED
okay, that's fair i guess.
>bullshit mindgame incentivization to keep it online
Nigga what
I still use mumble, but discord has replaced AIM for image sharing and d&d stuff for me and friends. It's easier than running a private image board.
>
H. There must be no favoritism towards long time members, real life friends of officers, or fellow guild officers. This stipulation also outlaws loot council systems, as such systems are extremely prone to cronyism.
Loot council is hands down the best loot distribution method as long as the officers aren't corrupt shitbags. The best guilds don't have that problem.
>being this autistic
Because none of these goobers are actually social.
You are forgetting the fact that officers are -ALWAYS- corrupt shitbags.
I remain the only one I have ever encountered who is immune to such corruption, and the ONLY reason I am immune is because of my autism.
Best thing to do is to search for a good a guild and join it was another person, preferably two that you know well, it gives you leverage to start out with, if it's just you, you probably won't get invited to big fights and stuff cause people in good guilds already have groups that they have to put priority over, if your playing solo in a MMO you pretty fuck in general, it might have been doable in the early days of MMOs but people are to busy these days for the most part to play MMOs unless they're doing it with friends.
It's why I love living in a fairly big city. The chances of me meeting someone I know are slim, and I can just do my thing without anyone paying attention to me.
Random distribution is contrary to benefiting the group, currency encourages players self interest. Only logical advancement and progression actually works for being the best.
>get in Sup Forums guild
>3 types of people, the ERPers, the circlejerkers, and the people who actually do content
>ERPs/circlejerks eventually dominate the entire guilds population
>leave guild
rinse and repeat
Piss you dirty red communist. Competition naturally leads to a higher class of player.
It only tends to work in top guilds. People who are serious about smashing content understand the importance of keeping loyal members and distributing loot for the greater good of the guild. Shitty officers cause guilds to disintegrate so fast.
>never got into mmorpgs much
>never joined a guild when they were in their heyday
feels like I missed out desubakasenpaitachi
AKA guilds that neither I nor you will ever get into, because I am realistic enough to admit that while I am a very skilled player, I'm not good enough to compete in world first things. Because of this, there is no reason to even include 'top guilds' in the discussion because of the impossibility of joining them.
inb4 you attempt to say that you are a world class player - you aren't.
You really didn't.
Currency systems are almost universally based entirely on just showing up, not level of contributing. You run into scenarios where an item is an upgrade, but no one will accept it thanks to it costing, potentially putting a better item out of reach.
Well run loot councils reward the best players the best items, but sometimes that comes at a short term cost.
Incremental increases is best case scenario.
I don't mean top top. I just mean guilds serious enough to actually push progression content. There are so many shitty friendly guilds that never make it past the lowest tiers of raiding because they're not serious about the game.
Ya'll motherfuckers sound loyal as fuck, capable of standing tall as a paragon of good virtue and honesty. Why did you stupid fucks never create a guild?
Because we don't play video games
I've been best on server, including some world records on specific encounters. Progression guilds rely on good loot distribution methods to stay competitive, even if that competition is far below best in the world.
The failure to implement a correct currency system does not invalidate the point.
See the inb4.
Copycat opinion
>multiple people can't have the same opinion
nigger
They're lying fags that are salty because one time an officer trusted a 6 month+ guild member with a rare item instead of them who joined a week ago.
Are you implying currency should be weighted and distributed manually? How is that any different from loot council? You can't just use highest healing or dps, let alone a measure of tanking, as everyone has different jobs to fulfill. Hell, the best players often have the hardest individual tasks, as they are reliable.
Plus, I never claimed to be a top player in the world, only on server once upon a time, and the assumption that no on can be better than you is silly.
For the record, I had 3 highest hunter dps and one highest overall during wotlk for 3 boss fights at one point, the overall being a massive fluke with explosive shot crit % being 80% when my chance was in the 40s.
...
You forgot this one
>Squirrel installer
>Join guild with people from /vg/
>It's a massive guild but everyone is talkative and helpful
>The Elitists who circlejerk with a select few in the group are shunned for not talking to more people
They're all in discord or teamspeak or ventrilo.
>I can't count the number of times someone has said "hurr its on xyz discord" in response to a question that could be simply answered in one sentence.
The reason they do that is so that they don't have to spoon feed you information for every fucking question you have. If it's all on the Discord, just go on the Discord. It's not fucking hard, you don't even need to have it installed, though the web app is ass for voice.
And in regards to "It completely destroys any sort of in-game community, including chat channels." public chat channels have always been shit. People have always congregated in either private channels or on an external service. That's not specifically Discord's fault, it's the convenience of being able to communicate with your group without opening the game. Sub ran out? Need to run out quick and the game's not open? It takes 5 seconds to tab to the chat program you have on 24/7 that takes minimal resources and leave a message on the relevant discord channel. In game chat has always been inconvenient, and people have always congregated to other services like Ventrilo, Teamspeak and even fucking Mumble. When people prefer Mumble to the in game options, you know the in game options are ass.
>Why the fuck every single guild in every single MMO is like that?
t. guy that never joined an actual EVE corp
Mumble is, or at least was, a straight teamspeak and ventrilo upgrade. Never had to fuck with individual volume settings like I did with vent.
I still remember my guild keeping my NEET ass subscribed though, good shit
Bruh nobody cares. Being the top of your class on a server just means giving the most marginal of fucks and practice unless you're on one of the big 3 raiding servers. That is like bragging about being the hottest boy in podunk.
lmbo if you've never gotten headhunted by an actually good guild
casuals baka
You never had to fuck with it because you couldn't. It was Ventrilo without any of the features that made it great.
What the fuck are even on about? I was supporting my anecdotal experience regarding loot distribution to a guy who made the claim that only top guilds that no one is in should care.
I also never went deaf from exploding voice niggers while someone else can't be heard at max volume.
i got headhunted by a guild once
they even offered to pay for my server transfer and i just felt very awful and weird about that offer
it feels like i owe them something if i took the offer
Support my balls with your chin, fagboy.
Then the people on your Mumble took the time to setup their mics properly. Retards unable to use a program (which if you didn't know how to lower someones mic, or raise them, includes you) doesn't make the program bad.
Check the guild info for the vent/discord info.
Only micless plebs use the in game chat
When you are forced to manually adjust every single persons volume individually, that's a bad program. Mumble actually functions without having to alter settings for each new person, with better codecs using less bandwidth.
You're not forced to, if they setup their volume properly it wouldn't be an issue. And Mumble's codec included some extreme quality loss in comparison to Ventrilo. Never thought I'd see someone defending the worst voip to ever gain popularity.
Fucking kill yourself
The only great guild I've been to required you to bake a cake and post a timestamped image in your application.
Only the most committed were allowed in.
