>trading away King's Sword
You deserve it
>Keeping memesword instead of getting bestgun
I know this is a tired meme but unironically git gud friend. If you managed to get to that point in the game you should be able to pull it off.
Not even my image
>literally uses gimmick gun
>calls sword meme sword
>needing anything but the Polar Star
>abloo abloo I can't handle it
Here's something that's WORTH complaining about. Beating this shit in under 3 minutes in the dedicated time attack mode. WHAT THE FUCK WAS NICALIS THINKING?
Cave story thread then.
What is your weapon of choice?
Bubbler here
Polar star + blade is actually fucking amazing for hard mode core. lube helps too
I just couldn't defeat Ballos, getting to him is not that hard but I gave up after like a 100 tries.
Garbage game
How can anyone find Kero Blaster fun?
Garbage post.
I’m not sure if it was an option in the original, but why not just use the Life Pot before the Ballos fight?
Just because it started the wave of nu-pixel games doesn't make it bad.
what if you need it during the fight?
I already have the Life Pot user
embarrassing. Simply embarrassing.
Mah bubbly brother.
Im surprised it people dont seen to talk about or use the bubbler more often. At level 3 that thing makes you essentially immortal due the wall of projectiles around you. Its not as useful in the Final Cave / Hell, tho
Cause no one bothers leveling it up, i did and it's become my weapon of choice ever since.
only in hell i didn't use it, stupid missiles need to hog the XP tanks at the start.
This.
You can love RE4 and not like 5, 6, and the Revelaiton games
Watch videos on youtube to find a good strategy. On his last form get damaged by the spikes on the floor as it does low damage, then use the invincibility to stand on his head next to his eye, then spam super missiles as soon as he opens it and he will die almost instantly.
Hell third level is easy when you get the gist of it. You dont NEED to speedrun the damn thing under 3 minutes.
You can easily heal up any damage you took from the falling rocks and reach the Press with 50 HP.
Did you use it during the Last cave / Dr. Fight? because you can refill it at Jenka before starting the mistery fight.
Holy shit, dude. I use to be able to beat Hell consistently under 4 minutes with Life Pot included, when I was just a wee lad. Get fucking good.
To be honest, beating Ballos without cheesing is really fucking hard.
I ever found one video of someone doing it legit
>when I was just a wee lad.
>implying kids are bad at video games
Dunno why people say this.
I consider Cave Story to be one of my all time faves but I never beat Ballos, it's a great shame of mine I still need to rectify one day.
I remember enjoying it when it came out, but I completely forget it exists until it's (rarely) brought up again
I gave up. I've reached Ballos quite a few times but having to complete all the previous rooms over and over again every time you die just got tedious. Maybe I'll go back and finish it if I have nothing better to do.
king's sword level 2
Bubbles that become exploding shurikens.
Is that...?Seriously I played the game years before watching the anime, and hat is the first thing it came to my mind when Cesar did it
Never don't give up, user, it takes some practice, but you'll be able to do it eventually. Yeah, going through hell every time you die is tedious, but you'll get there
>You will never be able to play Hell for the first time again
It's been about 8 fucking years and I still can't find anything as challenging and fun as that stage
Why do weebs pretend this is a good game?
Which soundtrack is the best?
This pretty much summarizes the situation. This is one of those rare games that actually have a very nice learning curve. The end is hell, but it's really rewarding when you beat it (and it won't be that hard for the 2nd time if you try again). Easily one of the favorite games of mine.
Original all the way. The remastered editions are really a lackluster.
Remastered>=Original>Ridiculon>>>New
Some Ridiculon tracks are done really well, others... not so much. It is hit or miss with that one.
GIT
GUD
Original was consistently good. Remastered is alright, with a couple being arguably better than the original songs, but it fucks over some of the other ones too. Same for the "new" version but to a lesser extent.
The part with the rocks and cupids is literally RNG, its such bullshit.
>first playthrough
>trade polar star for machinegun
>find out you can get a chargable polar star and I permanently missed it
>get stuck in hell forages, so mad I missed best gun, consider restarting entire game to get upgraded polar star to make it easier
>finally beat ballos, I'm a god
>a year later
>play game again, get upgraded polar star
>mfw machine gun was way better
I'm a scrub and failed to beat the doctor in the normal ending a couple of times. Redoing the witch chick every try isn't very nice but my larger problem is I'm not finding the bosses that fun. Is the final boss better, and should I go for the true ending? Currently it's either
>tank something, spam swords while invincible, repeat
or
>try to actually dodge stuff, get a proper hit in once every minute or a few shots now and then if using a longer range run, still take lots of damage so I'll likely die before he does
Most bosses were pretty weak to a particular gun and I could just spam them down, but I enjoyed the platforming. I feel like it's just too hard to hit the bosses effectively without putting yourself in danger, and doing so will take much shorter time so even if it takes as many tries it's not as tedious. Am I missing out if I just watch the rest? Guess I'll just admit upfront I'm a cuck and soyboy and all that so that's over and done with.
>but I enjoyed the platforming
bing bing wahoo
Never managed to get into the 2d marios, dunno what you're talking about.
Well, original is pretty great, but the best song in the game is in the Remasted soundtrack

>Never managed to get into the 2d marios
Damn
I'll try again at some point, but I've tried a bunch of platformers and most of the classics aren't very compelling. Loved the Metroid games but pure platformers with simple movement and frequent downtime didn't have staying power for me.
bubbler projectiles don't explode though
The Remastered songs are mostly not bad (the New versions I don't really like at all though), what I don't like about them is that they play around too much with the main tunes, making them lose their essence. To me, the originals pack some punch and have clarity that the remixes cannot rival. But there are nice remixes too, my latest finding is Vernian's Orchestrated version, I like these a lot: files.catbox.moe
