the first game was terribly mediocre and honestly Divinity blew it out the water

Looking forward to it. I'm playing through the original again to prepare my save. Although importing saves is more often than not a disappointment in terms of what carries over I do it anyway.

FUCK RPG CODEX!
Fuck kiddynity unoriginal sin, fuck lol so randum talking skeletons and cheese

>trick and kill the dragonslayer for the first time
>expect to feel bad
>Edér does his thing and flushes all the guilt away
Damn this guy is too good for Eora.

>Divinity blew it out of the water

anyone in the beta know how much racial reactivity there is?
in the first one nobody seemed to care that you were a Death Godlike, and would even mention your eyes when you don't have any

Not in the beta but I saw a bit of a stream of someone in it and some of the initial NPC's mentioned them being a Death Godlike. I don't remember what was said exactly but it was noticed.

Classes and Subclasses

>larianiggers will defend this

nice, thanks

Since the Adra dragon fed with souls inside the statue, does that mean she fed with parts of Eothas?

Pictured: Aloth ready to fuck a bitch up

Damn, looking good. Double good for the rapier.

Dunno, how long has Eothas been in that statue?

1. *Shake your head at this delusional Larian fanboy*
2. [SCHOLAR] *Laugh at this idiot's shit taste in RPGs*
3. [LARIANIGGER] *Bro fellow redditor's fist in EPIC agreement*

I disagree. Pillars of Eternity has much better atmosphere, art and writing than either Original Sin.

these past few days have really cemented my believe in the obsididrone

>my believe

stopped reading there

What can he multiclass into?

not an argument, your game is boring

I wanted to go Hierophant, but apparently casters have been fucked over. Fix this mess, Sawyer!

pretty sure he can only be single class Wizard

I don't think Eothas was inside the statue the whole time. My theory is that he's been straying away as a minuscule soul ever since the Godhammer and he finally found a vessel for him to revive into at the beginning of Deadfire.

another wizard.

So he can dualcast.

>With the way multiclassing works, will we be able to multiclass all companions? Will it be more limited than was originally planned?

>JS: What we are currently supporting—and this might change—is that when you get a character in your party you will have the option of taking them as — it depends on the character. There will be three options depending on the character. If you get Edér it'll say: "Hey, do you want to be a Fighter, a Rogue or a Swashbuckler?" There are other characters, like Aloth, where it will be a Wizard or a Wizard mixed with another class(that we'll define), or a third option which is a Wizard mixed with yet another class. That's what we're currently supporting. Depending on how testing of that goes we may open that up to support more than that. It just turned out to be more technically complicated, in terms of UI and progression, than we had expected. But, yeah, the currently plan is that every companion that you get will have those three options and you specify it right there, and then they advance as that class or combination of classes.

Being able to decide NPCs class is bullshit

>hi nice to meet you, let me tell you what you are

You can only pick between three presets that make sense for the character. It's not like you can turn Edér into a Wizard or Aloth into a Rogue.

>when even the god of death acknowledges your edge
I love these small cosmetic reactions based on your dispositions. Sure, mechanical consequences to your character building choices are very important and are a crucial part of roleplaying, but these small cosmetic consequences are fun to read as well. I hope Sawyer does not abandon this concept in Deadfire.

Divinity had funner combat but it didn't keep it's hold on me because of the lackluster dialogue and loose and unimpassioned story. PoE wasn't exceptional in these categories, however, but there was a respectable attempt and presence at least. Hopefully it's all not so boring and monotonous with Deadfire.

Aumaua savage, Fire Godlike warlock or stock Dwarf barbarian
which of these sounds most fun

These are pretty much my thoughts too. Pillars didn't hit it out of the park, but at least it tried and had some attempt at taking itself seriously. I could read stuff about Saint's War, Animancy and a Pantheon and occasionally it was interesting. As opposed to the Divinity games where they move me from boring gag to boring gag (Cheese, skeleton sex, sexy lizard, fantasy cliche being mocked). It's the classic "We're sucking on purpose so it's fine" shit that I have come to loathe in our new post-irony era.

>zealous endurance
>not focus

Classic barbarian. Multiclassing is for dorks.

Example of how good character models look now.

>When throwing explosives
Fucking sold

>2017
>still playing isometric action rpg's

Literally the most boring genre on earth... after Tower Defense. Haf more than enough of these games in the 90s. I was already bored to death by the time Titan Quest released. Nostalgia fags are the worst. Move on, soyboys.

>>mfw the graphics are good enough for waifu
>>mfw I have no face

>action rpg's
>Pillars

This isn't an action RPG. It's like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights.

hey don't insult Tower Defense like that...

kys

Fuck. Skill choices in Pillars 1 were easy as hell. Now there's so many of them and I don't know which one to focus on.

Remember to get your cosmic doggo when the game comes out.

You must be really really underage.

oh... thought it would be an actual code

>Finish playthrough to get ready for POE2
>Forgot to do the second Raedric quest
>now gilded vale is fucked

Should i bother going back and doing it ? i doubt its gonna matter beyond Eder getting sad in one line of dialogue at some point. Also my White march endings didn't show for whatever reason

Everyone will probably need some athletics. One character will have to focus on mechanics. The PC will most likely have to focus on one of Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff + Insight/Streetwise. One character will have to focus in Alchemy for making potions. The mandatory party priest should focus on religion and/or metaphysics. The mandatory wizard focuses on Arcana and/or metaphysics, depending on what you gave your priest. Looks pretty straightforward to me.

Go back and kill that asshole. You should have a save right before you jump into the hole.

Has it been confirmed that companions can use their skills in dialogue ? i recall someone mentioning it in a thread but i saw no source

They add up a bonus to the PCs skill.

It was one of the first things that was shown about the system way back before there was even a fig campaign. They add to the score, but I don't think they add up entirely. If it's from a different party member, it's only half or something like that.

Rather than abandon it he improved it. Lots of flavor text is in the beta.

>impossible to avoid having both Deceptive and Honest dispositions if you don't roleplay a stick in the mud
JOOOOOSH

A Woedica hood?glad I left Aloth in charge of the leaden key. I'll beg there is gonna be a ton of cool dialogue.
Damn they look good enough to make a portrait directly of them.

>so fucking many characters to play
>want to start a new run
>can't choose what to do
>end up playing nothing
Aaaah, I'm so tired.

>pillars of mediocre story and shitty rtwp single player mmo combat

what would be paladin+druid play like?

Furry on fire.

>Josh
It's Tom.

first of all kys for not liking titan quest

Fucking sucks is what it is.

>not wanting to have phone sex with some british slag

Fire + Lightning everywhere.

What i want is a Barbarian + Broken pillar. If carnage does trigger broken pillar Wound on damage dealt then for fuck sake that would be beautifull.

>use the knocback + prone monk ability
>carnage send everyone around you fuckign flying

Thanks, that's great to hear.

>pillars of amazing story that cannot be comprehended by brainlets too stupid to read the lore and a party-based sword&sorcery combat system with the most tactical depth ever made
Yeah, I agree as well.

Maybe more people would know the story if they added voice acting.

Waste of budget for brainlets that hurts storytelling and roleplaying. Every night, I

>Every night, I
Well looks like pillar-kun is dead

Go to sleep, knightanon.

what do

It worked just fine for Divinity.

Doesn't matter

Who cares? The first one was dull as fuck.

Tell her the truth.

>there was a respectable attempt and presence at least
You're talking about the "Souls magic soul take soul god magick souls oul magick soul!!" thing? You liked that?

Divinity isn't any better.

Is it born normally if you end the Hollowborn without putting the soul back in their bodies?

I've just started playing it two days ago, and you might be true. Nonetheless, PoE was still dull as fuck and its storywriting was simply childish.

Yes. Thus, lying to her is a victimless crime.

>Souls magic
Literally never mentioned anywhere in the game. Fuck off, retard.

Sounds like you're oversimplifying a setting you did not understand.

>Yes
Are you sure? At one point is the soul taken form the fetus exactly?

Divinity had a lazy generic as fuck story sprinkled with meme dialogue. I'd take Pillars any day.

>childish
Are you enjoying Divinity? Because if you do, and you really have the audacity to say that about PoE, you're retarded.

What's childish about it anyway? I'll give it to you that it's a bit of a snore.

>PoE was still dull as fuck and its storywriting was simply childish.

>The first one was dull as fuck.

Your wortless dogshit opinions are very important to the RPG playerbase, keep us informed.

I’m having trouble deciding whether to replay a monk character in preparation for POE2 or try an offensive 2H paladin.

Does a 2H pally play significantly differently than a tank pally? I remember that my first time around, I had troubles with encounters because I couldn’t kill enemies quickly enough with the story characters. Though I’m pretty sure I can build characters better on my 3rd playthrough, am I going to notice any significant difference between a dedicated burst damage paladin and a dedicated buff/support paladin?

Shouldn't matter, since you're going with the objectively correct ending of Hylea... Right, user?

how non-linear is the first game in terms of being able to solve quests and such in different ways?
hoping for lots of it in the sequel
can you do low intelligence retard runs?

The same rpg playerbase that likes garbage like divinity?
lmao

>Steam review scores
>review scores
Your an idiot.

I want my space piggy back.

I remember the game allowing you to solve the quest in many different angles. Deadfire's beta seems to indicate that too.
As for low int runs, you cannot, they haven't written exclusive dialogue for dumb people.

>bird brain goddess

What's with all the shitposting about divinity vs pillars? Are you guys just larping as petty 12 year olds? It's ok to like both, and you can talk about one without shitting on the other

>wortless dogshit opinions
same fucking guy every pillars thread

Paladin is busy burst damage. No difference.

Except Kiddinity does not cater to the RPG playerbase, so its scores are completely irrelevant. Kiddinity is shallow h&s garbage with exactly zero roleplaying depth that uses multiplayer gimmicks to cater to a crowd of normie dumbfucks, who are willing to play any garbage as long as it has coop. The hardcore RPG playerbase gives exactly zero fucks about Kiddinity which is the reason why nobody even cares about discussing this shallow turd anywhere, be it the 'Dex or Sup Forums. The score you see is based on the opinions of shit-eating normies playing any coop trash regardless of the genre and the value of their opinion on the RPG genre is precisely nothing. They do not constitute the hardcore RPG playerbase and neither do you.

>I will proceed to present my worthless dogshit opinion on a game I've never played and consider it the universal truth even though it's subjective verbal diarrhea
>What? How dare you post subjective opinions of other people who constitute the playerbase of an entire genre and presume that their opinions have the same value as my own!
The absolute state of (You).

do you need to play PoE first or can you jump in with 2? Never got into PoE despite trying multiple times.
