Can anyone explain this gameplay to me? It just looks like you hit a giant bullet sponge for 30 minutes until it dies

Can anyone explain this gameplay to me? It just looks like you hit a giant bullet sponge for 30 minutes until it dies.

>pick a weapon that you like
>hunt monsters
>collect items from monsters to create better gear
>fight stronger monsters
>repeat 3-4

Why would anyone enjoy that...

Monster Hunter Generations was actually my favorite of the series. In addition to weapons there was also types of style you could choose from. Nothing was more fun than jumping off an enemy with aerial style with a huge ass hammer and bringing it down on a giant monster.

40+ minutes sometimes... ;~;

You do, but there's a gimmick.
The giant bullet sponge will run away a lot, and you have to chase it! And instead of getting weaker as it starts limping and getting tired, it gets stronger and gets one hit kill attacks.
Don't know, I bought the game and I've been struggling to enjoy it, too.

It's the thrill of the hunt, you either have it or you don't

You mean the thrill of repeatedly hitting the attack button on something until the game says "well done" and hands you one of the 30 things you have to collect?

>30 minutes
Monsters die in 2m if you're good.

It depends entirely on if you like how fighting monsters feels. If you don't like it, you don't like it. MH isn't for everyone

It's a game that's entirely centered around fucking boss fights. WITH YOUR FRIENDS. Why the fuck WOULDN'T YOU LIKE IT?

Yeah it's great. combat is the best part of any game.

You won't be killing anything in 30 minutes, you'll die and get game over against the first big monster

combat feels good, monster are fun to learn

>You mean the thrill of repeatedly hitting the attack button on something until the game says "well done" and hands you one of the 30 things you have to collect?

user you just described literally 1000s of games including dark souls

Unless you're a daft cunt who thinks boss fights are too video gamey, that's the perfect premise. And it only takes 10-15 minutes if you know what you're doing. The 50 minute timer is there to tell the special needs children they're doing something wrong and need to stop if they get close to it. There's a reason why endgame investigations often come with a 15 minute timer.

Except there doesn't seem to be any strategy to Monster Hunter

Then you don't have a good eye for that sort of thing.

lol kid this isn't your typical jrpg
Ever play Dark Souls? Imagine that only it's boss fights 100% of the time
Without guides you wouldn't be able to kill a monster, you'd probably just shit yourself

Only if you're playing with randoms. Coordinating traps, attacks, and items (Wide Range) with friends is always fun.

Yall are falling too hard for OP's shitty bait jesus fucking christ.

I don't even play combat oriented games that much and even I can see the strategy behind the combat.

This is how most of the threads on Sup Forums start anyway

Bait starts MonHun threads yo. Its been that way for a few years.

Are you mentally retarded? I don't even like MH and the strategy is obvious.

I think that this dude is legit though.

>FRIENDS

>Current Weapon

Post 'em boyos

>>Current Weapon
Longsword
>>Mantle
Ghille? Never used it, no point in hiding.
>>Weapon you'd like to try
Any of them but they all require a fucking dickload of materials to get to the same level as my longsword and I refuse to grind.
>>Monster that keeps giving you shit
All of them pretty much. Fights last way too fucking long.

>Can anyone explain this gameplay to me?
I mean that's basically it, without the exaggerated comments and the condescending attitude.

>I'm blind and don't understand video games

>tempered vaal fight
>lady maria joins
>longsword user
>dies 3 times
why are bloodborne shitters so bad at this game

>Weapon
Switch axe/CB - starting to learn horn soon
>Mantle
Usually glider
>Weapon to try
Horn first then I'll probably try a ranged weapon
>Monster that's giving me shit
I've literally just finished the HR story and the first quest after to fight 2 tempered Bagels is redic. Going to farm some Xeno stuff before I do that again

>glider mantle
is there actually an effective way to use this mantle?

BB gameplay style is arguably more aggressive, encourages recklessness, and constant attacking.
MonHan can be like that too if you're good I suppose, but for most people, it's best not to be so aggressive.

Are you in High Rank or Low Rank? Fights should take you anywhere between five and fifteen minutes.

Low rank, still trudging through the main story. Killed an Anjanath, I'm just not having fun at all.
>Fights should take you anywhere between five and fifteen minutes.
Bull fucking shit.

Yeah, being a noob really limits your chances of having fun. Git gud.

>>Current Weapon
Insect glaive
>>Mantle
Rarely use them but I guess vitality
>>Weapon you'd like to try
I'm actually about to try the bow, anyone got got bow recommendations?
>>Monster that keeps giving you shit
Nerg

Weak bait.

No its true. If you play by yourself the monster has about 300% less health than it does in multiplayer.

Sure, areas where there are small ledges and hte monster is too far to make a normal jump attack.
You can also jump off a cliff and spin around with the glider on to hit the monster if it's behidn you

No, it's true
Fights should usually take something between 5 and 15 depending on the monsters
20+ is reserved for some elder dragons

did you even actually play the game? what the fuck kind of comment is that

Are you retarded?

>Lady Maria
>not DBs
fucking why

sounds like you might need to use more items and environmental hazards to your advantage.

Yeah then clearly I'm doing something wrong. Whatever, gunna drop the game.

HH
Impact
GL
tempered kirin

>party leader specifically asks us to kill not cap
>i cap it anyway

Yup, if you are that bad I think you should play something else too

/thread

Do you know how the LS works? How do you typically use it?

Lance

Fucking b-52

>ITS LIKE DARK SOULS
Fucking kill yourself

>weapon
Gunlance, Hammer, Switch Axe and Light Bowgun
>Mantle
Bandit mantle, I need that fucking money
>Weapon I would like to try
I tried them all already
>Monster that keeps giving me shit
I keep finding myself needing Diablos horns, and the fucker just won't drop them.

that's too bad user, shame you're not having fun

I hit things until the gauge fills, then when I have a long enough opening, use a full R2 set. Then, when I think the monster is going to stay still for more than half a second, I do that charge, flippy helm breaker move that does a lot of damage. I fight solo if that helps.

Well it wouldn't be bait otherwise

HBG
None it's annoying having to put my weapon away put it on then repeat that agin to take it off as a gunner.
None. Big raifu for laifu.
None. But I haven't reached Nerg yet.

Because they never played a true hardcore game

>Black Diablos Switchaxe
>Vitality
>Gunlance
>I hate blue rathalos with passion, literally a flying cancer without flash bombs

not even baiting, you guys should enjoy your game but what are the chances of XX making it to the switch in the west now?

i've seen a couple things that kind of turn me off this game and if i could i'd rather get xx than picking up world for pc down the line

Only to take shortcuts while following legiana

Go ahead and hunt Nergigante by just mashing attack

well if you're not a complete shitter and know how to chain climb coral highlands with the grapple bugs then it doesnt take long to follow legiana/kirin at all

SnS
Impact/Apothecary/Affinity Booster depending
Switch Axe
Daora, just need one gem..

>Fights should take you anywhere between five and fifteen minutes.
You MH guys need to remember that you have prior experience to fall back on, it's incredibly easy to get 30-50 minute kill times for someone who's knew to the series or just rusty in general.

>Current Weapon
Bone Lance, thinking of making the Kulu-Ya-Ku one because it has affinity.
>Mantle
I don't have one yet.
>Weapon you'd like to try
I really like the idea behind the HH, might give it a shot. Also figure I'll try a bowgun or bow eventually.
>Monster that keeps giving you shit
Nothing so far but I'm really early in the game.

probably not, Capcom seems to be pushing World hard in the west and doesn't want XX to interfere with sales, you can import it or buy it on the jp eshop just fine though. You can also emulate it with the english patch if you have a good cpu

Tell that to my hunting horn

anyone who has any familiarity with any sort of action games should be able to do it, World is my first monster hunter game and I'm able to get like 15-20 minute kill times on most things

I can chain, but the last climb it's incredibily long and boring without a mantle

>You can also emulate it with the english patch if you have a good cpu

cool i wasn't aware i'll check it out

make sure to use the chink forks of citra specifically made for the game, the regular version still runs the game like dogshit

You are getting the aura to max too right? Fights really shouldn't be taking you so long, you're either just not attacking as much as you could be/not focusing on weak points or your weapon is just not upgraded. Grinding in the early game is pretty quick for most mats, and with investigations a lot of the grind can be minimized on especially compared to other games in this series. And plus, fighting monsters multiple times will help you be more aggressive as you learn how they work, like what to look out for with each attack and how to keep attacking back. You could also try out a new weapon if the fights bore you so much, LS is one of the less involved movesets in the game. Good luck if you do end up playing more though, the intensity in some of the more difficult monsters is pretty fun.

it's 30 seconds of going up a cliff face with the hookshot, what the fuck are you talking about

same argument goes for analsex

I think people generally fall into a few tiers of ability. The people brand new who are hitting 30 minute hunts think doing it in 15 is impossible. Those people are looking at the 6 minute kills as impossible. And finally those people are calling bullshit on the 2-3 minute hunts of the same monster.

Why would anyone enjoy anthing ever?

I'm new to MH and I take most monsters down in 10-15 minutes.

It's possible. Stop being bad at video games.

the last climb has a grapple bug too though

even new players can probably do most hunts sub 15.
its a shame because tri hunts used to always take 15-25+

Same reason people unironically enjoyed Borderlands: The loot. Its a carrot on the stick for brainlets.

If there's one thing you won't find in the MH community is fans bullshitting you. When we say fights can take between 5-15 minutes, we mean it. Granted that's only with lots of practice so for a beginner like you the hunts, especially against new monsters, are going to take 20-40 minutes on average. If you keep at it and work on the monsters that are taking you so long you start memorizing their attacks and noticing where you get the most damage and when to appropriately punish. Monster Hunter is a big test of patience, but once you start getting the hang of things you're in and out of hunts real quick.

If that were true you'd be drowned in new weapons and armor for doing a harvesting quest.

Souls gameplay is tighter. Any time you die in Souls its expressly your fault. Monster Hunter deaths tend to be more RNG based. You can do everything right and still died because the game decided you should die.

Are the dual blades viable at all? And how does elemental shit work? I'm trying to learn this game and I feel so retarded.

Analyzing and understanding a rather complex Ai with many different moves and modes and not ever getting hit and punishing every single opening. That's what makes MH gameplay deeper and way more fun and satisfying than your favorite game (probably shit like Dark Souls).

If you still don't understand, you are an idiot and don't deserve the game anyway.

Most deaths in Monster Hunter are caused because you fucked your timing up or just weren't paying attention to what your enemy was doing, which is the exact same situation as Souls games.

Don't kid yourself with your own words, DS has the same amount of bullshit a MH has

It's the exact other way around. Are you retarded?

The game is just too samey. With progression being limited to only your gear, battles start to feel sterile because the weapons have a set moveset , so once you've learned all the moves that's it. And each weapon doesn't have very many moves. If you pick Switch axe as your weapon, then the moveset that you have on hour one will be the moveset that you have on hour 100. And that's bad. Then you'll say "just switch weapons" but then you'll learn those moves in an hour max with zero variation in terms of abilities and you'll get bored again.

>which is the exact same situation as Souls games.
>DS has the same amount of bullshit a MH has

Holy shit, stop comparing MH with your NeoSOY shit franchise. Souls is pure trash.

DBs do insane damage. Demon Mode makes you untrippable and you can use the spin2win as a stamina free dodge that can potentially do damage while you reposition. You want to keep that bar full and be in demon mode as much as possible, the dance attack does a shit load of damage but anchors you into place.

Monster Hunter is surprisingly fair. If stuns or whatever are bothering you that much then get some stun resistance - I assume it's still a thing in World.

that's fantastic, none of your moves are gated behind progression, the only thing that matters is how well you play, the change is the monsters, the constant is the player

Are you retarded?

The game doesn't just randomly decide when you die. You being too slow to dodge is what decided that. Just like in souls games the whole point of MH is observing your opponents movements and learning their tells. If you die it is your fault.

That webm isn't a very good argument my dude, the older games are incredibly notorious for having just awful hitboxes. Even in MHW some hitboxes are pretty wonky, Nergigante's dive for example.

That was beautiful. Imagine there are three people in the room and they see you doing this. It feels so good.

Especially when all three of them are girls.
