Why do I feel like it is so difficult to dodge things when everything I do gets dodged?

Can I play this with an arcade stick? Or does it require two joy sticks?

Its an arcade port so probably, right stick doesn't seem to do much in this game. I think it slightly moves the camera but you really use L2 and R2 to shift targets so it pretty much never gets used.

Someone should make a general for this. I would but I'm not super knowledgeable about the game. Plus I'm lazy.

How do you deal with those counter hp attacks? Is it just timing? I always get nailed by them.

aside from Bartz's mastered knight and Exdeath's omniblock, they can't block HP attacks.

You can tell if Bartz has knight mastered by the color of the shield. It's red if it can block HP attacks.

No PS4. On that note, I've recently been lent a copy of the OG PSP Dissidia. It's fun but takes a lot of getting used to. Playing as mostly Terra. I will say that it gets a bit repetitive after a while. Like, against high level enemies, the AI had such high evade ability that all I could do is spam spells after spells and hope that on the 0.05 chance my spells would actually connect. Maybe this is just because I'm paying as Terra? Maybe a melee character would be more fun? Will probably try Tidus after this.

One thing I still don't get is the whole Chocobo bonus thingy. I just set
my play style to "Average" (not hardcore) and be done with it. Also one more thing; I hate that the fly command is set to triangle+R shoulder button. Someone's when I try to fly my character would block instead since blocking is also set to the right shoulder button. It's annoying.

Bot matches should never count in ranked matches.

The game's mechanics are just insanely defensive and dodging has lots of iframes with minimal downtime so AI abuse it.


Chocobo bonus is just a bonus thing you can set for yourself. hardcore takes longer to complete but gives better rewards but it resets daily so you should only set it to hardcore if you can play that much at once.

If you have a bot on your team, you lose 0 points for losing, and gain little for winning.

Firion and the Emperor are my favorites so far. I wanted to love WoL and Noctis but I hate their lack of ranged moves and I have so much trouble getting in.

I really love this game. I think it would’ve been a lot better received if it released in a quieter month.

points awarded or deduced are based a lot on your performance. I've had games where I've played really well and got upwards of 38 ranking points and games where I lose and lost a ton of points for eating shit.

It's also possible to lose and get deduced no points if you play well enough.

I do believe bots influence the gain/loss a little bit though.

That's why you always take Brave Share when you're using a counter HP move.

I found it very hard to hit with Maesltrom unless boths team are in a close range scramble.

Why are you playing as the same character all the time in a story based game where you have to play as every character? This isn't Tekken or Smash Bros, the meat of the fun is in the story mode, not doing random arcade battles.

Also it's best to just play Dissidia 012, it contains 90% of the original game anyway and improves on it in most areas.

You can use share bravery to somewhat mitigate that flaw, but it still sucks when you have games where you just can't land a single counter. I usually eat a lot of shit if I don't get it mastered early on.

Yeah I feel the game could use some rebalancing. Many of the hp attacks are practically worthless. Platinum and up you end up seeing the same handful of characters most of the time and over half the cast never gets played.

They made all the wrong moves with the release timing of this game. RPG fans are playing MHW and FFXIV patch. Fighting game fans are playing DBZ. Anyone who knows the name Dissidia doesn't like the new gameplay because it isn't a single-player game with no balance. They did a three way shot in losing all their potential audience in one go.

Because you had to choose between Dissidia, Dragon Ball, and Monster Hunter. This has been an extremely hectic release schedule, especially since all three games are excellent. It's pretty clear that Dissidia is easily on the third rung of popularity though.

Got the game from amazon when it came out, but I'm too busy playing Fighters Z and World.

Opera Omnia is better since it has Tifa already in addition to Yda.

Never played Record Keeper, maybe that's why I'm still playing it. Mainly play it during breaks at work so and I just want to make progress so that's why i've been skipping them. I'll have to go back and watch the scenes later.

Sell me on this game. I wasn't overly impressed with the beta. Is there a reasonable amount of content for single player and does the full game have modes close to the PSP games or is this largely multiplayer with some throwaway features tacked on?

I want to like the game but it feels way too janky.
Do a combo and then you have to wait a bit because the person you were fighting is currently invincible for a few seconds.
Rinse and repeat until you have to do a HP attack.

Lol. Theres pretty much no single player. You just keep playing multiplayer or against bots so you can get items to unlock a story cutscene.
