FO4 Ultimate Edition on sale right now. Worth getting? Been watching a lot of gameplay vids and I’m thinking with some modding it could be pretty damn good. Completely avoiding the main story quests via Alternate Start mod of course...

Poor story, cluttered systems, nagging sidequest system, designed against player convenience, all the factions are totally fucking lame.

Honestly, no. This is coming from someone who played every TES/bethFO game and expac/DLC and enjoyed them all thoroughly. I genuinely regret spending any money on it. Even Todd said they fucked up. You never have skill checks, the loot never feels satisfying, and you have no real choice and the choices you do have barely matter at all. It does everything Bethesda games usually do right wrong.

Side quests and exploration are pretty decent desu, so if that's what you're into go for it. Main quest and writing are brutally shitty though

This is one thing to keep in mind: Todd definitely did admit to messing up with Fallout 4. It wasn't PR, it seemed like a lowkey interview where he just admitted to fucking up. So, if you want to take it from the main dev himself, he admits the game lacks in many areas

I think it's worth getting on discount. Shooting is the best of the 3D titles, the settlement stuff is fun, alright weapon and armor customization, best power armor features. Just don't bother getting invested in the story.

>worth getting?
no.

/thread

Yeah these all sound glaringly bad. How much modding would it take to improve on this, or is it just not possible? Most of the things I don’t like about the game seem to come from the core foundation of how it was setup (dialogue, legendary enemy/loot, shitty story, cartoony art style, etc)

I don’t like the idea of having to download a ton of mods to essentially fix their game for them, but Christ, looks like that’s the only way to go other than completely avoiding it altogether. Such a shame because the game really seems to have a lot of potential.

>FO4 Ultimate Edition on sale right now.
No and it is cheaper to get F3/NV ultimate edition instead. Fallout4 is just pure shit.

Sup Forums is going to tell you it's shit, but it's really not that bad

there's enough to do and it still has that fallout atmosphere if you don't have a hard time immersing yourself

if you don't mind being vulnerable as fuck i'd recommend survival mode, it makes the game less baby-friendly, and things like food/water/settlements matter a lot more

Decent gunplay, good exploration, settlement building can be fun but managing them can be annoying, areas change over time with new enemies both exterior and interiors, you can command companions to hack or lockpick for you, a few good waifu. Overall decent and fun game.

3 is objectively the worst 3D fallout title, and who hasn't already played NV to death?

Bethesda shat out a shitty shooter. It's not a Fallout game.

But is contraptions a good factorio simulator?

FO3 is pretty decent and I wouldn’t mind playing it again, but looking at it’s Steam page it appears the game isn’t optimized well for Windows 7. And then on top of that it seems like it will take a shitload of modding to make the game feel fresh and enjoyable, more so even than New Vegas and 4.

Reviews are saying FO3 GOG version works better though.

FO3 only has trouble with GFWL, which you can disable.

It's still a worse game than 4 by all measures. If you've never played it, you will be frustrated by it.

It's decent, as a shooter.
Some levels have good verticality to them, and it never really holds your hand, unlike a lot of shooters these days, just go out and kill shit.
Survival mode does make combat deadlier but shit like hunger, thirst and no quicksaves are fucking stupid.

>the game isn’t optimized well for Windows 7
>FO3 GOG version works better though.
Oh dude for PC NV works well and is stable with modding. F3 has a curse of never working on PC. So if you wanted F3 Ultimate edition on console and NV on PC.

It took me at least 5 hours to get into it. The music, visuals and atmosphere are all good. The gunplay's the best of all Fallouts. It's obviously a lot less linear than NV and therefore a lot more difficult. Like with all Bethesda games, ignore the main quest, and just do what the hell you like.

Yeah, I already have New Vegas and have modded it up just the way I like it and get good performance, outside of weird 40 FPS drop in some specific areas. As for Fallout 3 though it seems like that game just really isn’t worth the hassle on PC, sadly.

Speaking of New Vegas preformance though, know of any fixes for the FPS drop I get in areas like the Strip or Camp McCarren Concourse? I have most basics like Stutter Remover, Borderless Windowed Mode, and ENBoost already. I get consistent 60 FPS in most areas other than those and a few others I am forgetting right now.

God I want to punch his face in

Isn’t he the same guy that went on Twitter and shit on the lore of the series when asked about it?

>a lot less linear
>a lot more difficult
I’m pretty sure you’ve never even played FO4

the only time NV is difficult is when you fight cazadores

>Modding NV
Yeah I had so much fun modding NV. It was really simple to do as well. Shame F3 can only really be played on console. But it is not bad for it's time. Has got a better story than F4 too.

>Completely avoiding the main story quests via Alternate Start mod of course...
Kill yourself.

Surely you can do better than that.

It's a great game, go ahead.

I'm not even memeing when I agree with the user you're responding to. Even with hardcore on, NV is pretty straightforward in its difficulty. You'll go up against things relitively your level the whole game and except for major spikes with Cazadors, some areas of DLC if you aren't ready for it, the legendary boss things (fuck that bloatfly), there's never really going to be a point where you feel its genuinely unfair.

FA4 on the other hand, if you set it on that hardcore survival bullshit difficulty, kicks your ass eight ways to sunday the fucking millisecond you step out of the bunker and walk down the road. The first 20-30 levels have to be taken slower than a sloth's ass because you can be headshot from across the goddamn map and instantly murdered by random spawns of wild animals. Couple that with no fast travel, no saving except at beds, and just walking from point A to point fucking B becomes a goddamn adventure and struggle to survive.

Keep in mind, not saying FA4 is better than NV, but it is objectively more difficult with both on the hardest settings.

Its a Farcry skin, literally,
>no RPG element whatsoever
>garbage gun variety
>dumbed down """""perks"""" that literally are straight out from Farcry
>still clumsy game and gunplay with bugged stealth
>atrocious dialogues
>bad story
>super colorfull and wacky "post apocaliptic" world
>full of trash repeatable quests that consists of going to point A and shooting badies at A

>Fallout4 a great game.
You naive son of a bitch.

Nothing in Fallout is difficult

It's a fun open world shooter with the right mods, but other then that It's kinda boring I put 80 hours into it and can't be bothered to play it more.

source on this interview? i would like to read this

Don't bother, its just fucked, its a generic shoother that doesn't do shooters right, no amount of mod can fix the dialogues thanks tot he voiced protag and the story will be shit no matter what you do.

I’ve also noticed this. The gun selection and general world atmosphere feel so much like a combination of Bioshock Infinite and Borderlands. Really off-putting.

Decent game, fucking awful Fallout game.

I bought it in the winter sale and put a little over 40 hours in. I would say its not worth it unless you have nothing else you would want to play. The worst part about it isn't the story IMO, but the fact that there are ZERO memorable quests. They're basically all "go here and kill all these raiders/feral ghouls/etc". There's one that seems like it has potential to be cool and it ends up just being another "kill this guy. Ok now kill this guy".

Also, there's not really any cool loot since you get power armor and a minigun within the first 20 minutes of the game, and it (PA) is never even really necessary or useful outside of a handful of situations like needing to kill a deathclaw in close combat.

I didnt play far harbor but I started nuka world and got bored pretty quickly. The vault DLC seemed cool but building shit in Fallout 4 is horrible because it was designed for a gamepad.

I think it has a lot to do with the soundtrack, FNV's soundtrack was perfectly suited to a desert envoronment and really hammered the feeling home, in fallout 4 you get cringy 50's songs related to atomic power, it also doesn't helps that a lot of characters are wacky in the sence that they are incoherent and not funny.

Am I the only one who played on the hardest difficulty and actually had fun? Its not a very good game, but goddamn if it isn't hard as hell playing when you can be taken down in three or four shots, enemies have pinpoint accuracy, and just getting to your quests is hard enough on its own without also having to DO the quest. Awful, awful fallout game, but I always feel in these threads everyone played on normal or something when they complain about 'powerarmor isn't needed' or 'its mindless shooting'. Last I checked I was at like level 52, and I'm still finding situations where I walk into an area overconfident and get shredded by 4 enemies, only to have to replay the last 2 hours cause lol no saving allowed.

>muh story
Go read a book, faggot.

There's more but I only found this report, my google abilities are weak today.

youtu.be/3xovJu-Z1wo

This, repeatable quests killed any efforts to develop good sidequests and legendary weapons just fucking killed the loot system, no more unique weapon to reward you for crawling into that irradiated vault, here is a generic sniper rifle you can craft at your home instead.....

I'm not even sure I'd play Fallout 4 even if you payed me

nice meme, but the gameplay is shit too

NV hardcore mode (+ difficulty setting of choice) was actually fun and well crafted.
Fallout 4 survival mode is just a bullet sponge enemies fest.

I clearly said the story wasnt the problem, contrasting to other complaints in this thread

Go read a book, brainlets :^)

fitgirl-repacks.site/fallout-4/
Don't pay for it.

>eyebot racetrack
>bar/club
>that city with all the planks connecting the rooftops
>the city made entirely out of boats
>instead of making it interesting or interactive, just fill all the areas with generic raiders

t-thanks todd

Felt damn good to actually get anywhere though because of that. Nothing so satisfying as hitting that mid level 30s range and going "Oh my god I can actually two-shot some enemies with a shotgun now".

>spoonfeeding retards
>even giving up fitgirl
I fucking hate this board

Nah, it's tedious as fuck.

It's worth it to get people to stop paying for digdis.

Fitgirl repacks are on all the public sites, bro, why are you acting like they're special?
