You better be talking about the PC or Dreamcast version, nigga

sure. There are so many anyway

Revolution is objectively the best version
>But muh framerate
Emulate it

youtube.com/watch?v=02gLPWxEMbM

Best speedrun

>youtu.be/LFn1x83xM7A

All of the versions are pretty good except for DS/3DS

And ps1.

I'd play ds or 3ds much sooner than the ps1 port

PS1 was fine

Fantastic music. even the shitty n64 music is some of the best on the system, and the actual Chevalier music is orgasmic.
Amazing atmosphere. the environments are all interesting and pretty, and the characters are all interesting (especially polokus).
tight gameplay. fighting robots is great, and platforming feels satisfying. the collectathon "find the lums and the cages" is also some of the best in the genre.

It's a fuckin mastapiece

is utter garbage

Less and shortened levels. Less total lums.

It's the only version of the game with removed content. Definitely not worth the trade-off for subpar voice acting.

Hi Caddy.
youtube.com/watch?v=-xNG3cdSIrU

God tier atmosphere.
I mean let's be honest the controls aren't exactly the best since it's that awkward early 3d platforming period. It's still perfectly acceptable, but it truly shines though its amazing music, levels and character designs.
youtube.com/watch?v=yd-KDxXnSDM

It's really simple mechanically compared to bing bing wahoo for example, but believable, varied and consistent world along with a GOAT soundtrack makes it a journey instead of a checklist collectathon.

Wow. I’ve only ever played the ps1 version. My kid mind thought it was a blast.

The game works fine, sure it's one of the worse versions but still pretty good.

Proper 3D-sequel when?
Origins and Legends are good but I wanna see that kind of effort in 3D as well.

>Only ever played the PSX version
>Find out many years later how drastically different the versions of the game are and that I apparently played the worst one
>Still have very fond memories of it
I don't think I ever managed to fully replay it on a different platform although I really should've.

>cut out large portions of the game
>fine
no

dreamcast was the way to go unless the port of PC was based off it and not shit

I mean if it’s the only version you have it’s not bad, but in [Current Year] there’s really no reason to play the PSX version

It's still essentially the same game. No shame in having it as your childhood version.
Like it's the worst version of still a fantastic game

The game is really fucking atmospheric and the music is like the cherry on top
youtube.com/watch?v=pPjGfW1FZec

Even if it's the most trimmed down version, I think PS1 had some better sound effects which absence I miss on the other version. Like the lum sound and noise the robopirate's blasters make.
Okay, maybe it's not that much but still.

Rayman 2 Beta is a pretty good reason.

I thought Revolution or PC version were the best versions?
Also weird that on the wikipedia page there are no japanese release dates listed. I wonder how well it did over there.
IT'S JUST NOT THE SAME
youtube.com/watch?v=Ik72825hRTE

DC is better than revolution, revolution had performance problems. best are PC or DC

3 was better.

1 was the best.

>wanting a rayman game made by modern day ubisoft
>uplay only
>dlcs
>pre order bonus shit
>open world
>ubisoft towers
>crafting system
>leftist social agenda

No Rayman 4, please.

Rayman 1 is unironically the hardest game ever made that wasn't actively trying to be hard.

I miss the darker atmosphere of this game. Like there's some legit pretty dark and spoopy shit going on a lot of the time.
Origins and Legends are still top tier, but I wish they would've experimented a bit more with it, rather than going all in on the lighter, more humorous tone.

>wanting a rayman game made by modern day ubisoft
origins and legends are fantastic

Eh.

>The game is really fucking atmospheric and the music is like the cherry on top
This. Game is comfy as fuck.

>best are PC or DC

So PC.
Why are people bringing up DC all the time?

Hi

Legends/Origins are as dark as the original Rayman I'd say.
It's just that those god-tier beings just fuck around so much becaue they are so powerful

Legends/Origins had none of that shit

DC is better. It has minigames that are on no other version and runs at a constant 60fps even in high res mode. Don't know why he's recommending PC at all. Get the DC or PS2 version.

...

Who /n64/ here?

I know the soundtrack was technically worse, but i'd still choose it over Dreamcasts' objectivelly better versions. It's just not the same.

youtube.com/watch?v=Uw4TSnBvWZ4

STICK BAMBOO UNDER HIS NAILS

>subject is Rayman 2
>"Rayman 3 is better!"
Every fucking time.

I played the N64 version , loved it from beginning to end. Can someone explain the differences between the versions?

it feels like nobody knows what the fuck the revolution version is, not even ubisoft since their later ports didn't have all the great bonus content revolution had

SLAP ME DO IT LOL

Nah, he's talking about the superior N64 version.

N64
>midi music
>standard version of the game
DS
>port of the n64 version
>control sucks due to D-Pad
>long fucking load times
PS1
>ugly, but fucking impressive for a PS1 game
>truncated levels, some missing entirely
>has English voices instead of gibberish
>early alpha of Rayman 2 included
>less lums
DC
>runs at 60fps + 16:9
>exclusive minigames
>more details, better gfx
3DS
>port of DC version
>no minigames
PC
>better graphics, framerate
>no minigames
PS2
>more exclusive shit
>english voices

DC had some extra stuff

is the PC version not constant 60fps 1080p?

I thought PS2/PC got the DC upgrades but are only missing the minigames?

I think it has issues if trying to run in 16:9

>try to play Revolution
>retarded hub world getting in the way
I get that hub worlds were a new thing at the time but Jesus christ

PC version was just a port of the N64 version with better graphics and CD music.

I literally cannot stomach the better soundtrack. I know it's completely subjective and nostalgia, but the N64 midis are too engrained within my skull.

MAKE HIM WRITE BAD CHEQUES

Mate, that's exactly the same description you get for the DC version

Legitimately in my top 3 greatest games of all time.
none of the other rayman games struck gold like this one did.
>inb4 rayman 3 was better
you are the worst kind of pleb.

youtu.be/E73q4qDuYWM?t=3m12s

Whole soundtrack is filled with leitmotif usage. Love it

youtu.be/QOqJSQ3iOVg

You guys remember the secret Rayman 2 (would of been) at the end? Wish they used that and stayed 2D.. number 1 was beautiful

>tfw too casual to finish Rayman 1

M I N I G A M E S
DC version also has the Isle of Doors I guess.

The soundtrack is so beautiful still, kinda haunting at times. youtu.be/uiJl0QEXuIo

youtube.com/watch?v=WpcUwssK2Ww

They should bring back robo pirates instead of those disgusting rabbit creatures.

Man I have no idea how I finished that as a kid. Wouldn’t have the patience for it these days.

Hall of Doors is superior.
Just like Rayman 2 Polokus is the best one.

I really like that teleportation sound the masks/Polokus use.

You mean the Rayman 2 prototype?

Seriously, what is it with the soundtrack? What makes it so memorable?

you forgot that the 3ds version was buggy shit

I do.

It was OK, powerup gimmicks took away from the openness that R2 had

3d Rayman is a relatively niche franchise for discussion. If one is discussed, the other 3d entry deserved recognition too

The first time you see polokus in the game, absolutely blew my shit away when i was a kid.
i was too shit to beat the guardian of ice and water or whatever and after i finally managed to beat him, i was so fucking excited.
man, good times.

He's has the most generic fucking design.
>hurr fat green monster with silly hat

The link I posted isn't the original soundtrack, it's been messed with

So you saying that it's memorable is pretty amusing, though I agree

>you can break the crystals on the slide by using your fists
I had no idea you could do this until I watched a speedrun fairly recently.

Literally the same design in every game until Origins/Legends

I think it's everything about the meetings with hi, the place/realm, the way he just sits there with the world ending "bring me my masks or the world dies"
Still better than fat, bearded hedonist
His role was better too
youtube.com/watch?v=VbC5VLrBIko
Close enough.

nah, hookah smoking hedonist frog who hangs out with his creations is cooler

>Beating the guardian of Ice
>Polokus activating your almonds
>youtube.com/watch?v=VbC5VLrBIko

How can Rayman 3 even compare. It was fun but Rayman 2 was one sensible piece of videogames.

so good

I hated the humor and tone of this game. It tried way too fucking hard to be funny.

I loved it when I was 8. But yeah, it's pretty fucking cringy.

The PC version also doesn't have mappable controls, and the default control scheme is abysmal. Only play it with a controller and Xpadder/Joy2key

lmao it's an alright game, but it's not even in the same league as 2.

This. R3 was fun and all, but it's nowhere near the pure quality of 2 and completely butchered up the tonne of the series.
Not that it has ever been particularly consistent

>This music
Oh boy, I remember this one

>those epileptic tunnel levels
Visual in this game are gorgeous

Why was the second sanctuary guardian the only one with a different design? And why was he the only one who doesn't even try to attack you?

Fucking same here.
I can't believe I actually made it through that part as a kid without doing that.
They designed it so you would HAVE to break the crystals

I think they had a more complicated idea with the guardians but they ended up just kind of being there with little fanfare.
Especially in the n64 version

I still have the Dreamcast version in a box somewhere.

I think in the PS1 version he says the other guardians went crazy when Ly asked for help or something like that

Man it's crazy how many versions there are of this one game. I personally really prefer the gibberish over the voice acting.

Same

PS2 version had a lot of random changes. I prefer the PC/DC/N64 version over it.

>And why was he the only one who doesn't even try to attack you?
What version did you play? I remember having to fight a boss in PSX.

PS2 had an option to switch to raymanian I think

I really really liked Rayman Arena. Some good platforming in those races, and the battle portion wasn't half bad either.

I dunno about Origins. Legends was great, but only thing in Origins that stuck with me was the fairies. I've never been as horny because of a video game.

PC. You had to fight the guardians of first and third temple, while the second one was just an animated statue which moves and opens you a path. 4th temple wasn't even in the game, instead Globox's kid brings you the last mask, but I know that a proper 4th temple has been added in some versions
Same, it's really underrated. The battles were kinda clunky, although a fun idea with good maps nevertheless. The races were pretty damn good.
