So answer a burning question for me Sup Forums.

What went wrong with this game? The release date being so close to Odyssey? Rosterfag bitching? The clones? The clear downgrade in quality between this and the last Nintendo Warrior project? DLC baiting? The contempt the developers had for anyone who wanted anyone that wasn't from Fates or Awakening? Only putting in Celica because of Echoes marketing and only giving her Marth's moveset? The fact that all the archers have the same set? No Maid/Butler Ninjas despite both the fact that Fates features them prominantly and that throwing weapon movesets are a DW staple? The villains not being playable? The fact that Ryouma and Astra breaks the game in half? Shoehorning an Axe on Lissa instead of putting in an actual Axefag besides Mommy Milkie and Freddy? Seriously I can't decide.

I think the big problem was that the characters were too similar. In Hyrule Warriors every single character feels unique, but in this game they all feel like clones.

>The release date being so close to Odyssey?
NoA wanted to fuck the game over like they did with RD's release being a week away from Galaxy.

The roster and the complete failure on the devs' part to highlight how well they crossed Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors gameplay-wise, instead focusing on the lackluster characters who turned away even most hardcore fans.

>hey's let's have nu-FE characters only featuring Marth from the Smash Bros. games!

Completely missed the point of Hyrule Warriors

Rushed development and the producer isn't a fan of FE. I feel sorry for Omega Force having to shit this out and DW9 so quickly.

this, though i do enjoy this title and musou in general

who the fuck asked for a dynasty warriors clone of fire emblem? they should have made a xenoblade or tales jrpg clone of fire emblem

As a huge FE fan and Musou fan the roster absolutely was the definitive reason I didn't pick it up. What a joke.

Roster for me. Plenty of characters from and entire franchise, yet they choose Awakening & Fates Pandering Starring Marth, Tiki and Lyn.

>The clear downgrade in quality between this and the last Nintendo Warrior project?
Also, the gameplay in FEW is much better than in HW, unless you mean the downgrade in production values such as the graphics, in which case yeah, it's true and I wonder why that happened.

Fire emblem fags having shit taste and thinking there opinion matters on a musou game.

It's funny how it works out.
Hyrule Warriors at launch had 20 movesets on 13 characters while Fire Emblem Warriors at launch has 15 movesets on 23 characters

>you mean the downgrade in production values

correct. thanks for clarifying. the gameplay is better except for things removed that were native to Zelda (items, giant bosses, etc) HOWEVER I still stand that Astra shouldn't have ever existed and I have a anecdote where I bullyed a hero that was a dozen levels higher than me across several bases slowly chipping away at their health and taking over said bases simultaneously. It got so bad I shoved a general into their respective commanding officers base and corner raped them. This was on Lunatic.

Eh, Hasty Attacks was a must for every weapon in Hyrule Warriors, too.

Well yeah, Astra breaks the game as well as the armor break attribute since you can lower any enemy hero's defenses to negligible levels.

Was very excited for this game but after seeing how it turned out I wasn't gonna buy it on principle, but with the special edition dipping all the way to only $50 I'm slightly tempted. Worth it as someone who's a fan of Fire Emblem and enjoys the occasional musou?

Yes, it's very well-designed and integrates Fire Emblem mechanics well. The issues are those already described in the thread, so if those aren't deal-breakers, you'll have fun.

unstoppable destruction coming thru

Why couldn’t they do the soundtrack Hyrule Warriors Style instead of Hyrule Warriors Legends style.
That short loop of the main theme gets old quick.

I tried it for 3DS and wasn't impressed. Is it that bad on Switch too? I didn't think HW was that great either but the Switch version sounds like it'll at least contain enough content to keep anyone busy for a while.

They cared more about forcing more females on the roster and in the dlc than anything else. Also, the release date was idiotic.

something about the artstyle and animations did not sit well with me

HW had so many fucking characters, every one different from the other, even clones, and even with their alternate weapons they became a totally different unit. In FEW they only have one weapon, and all weapons make them the same, so it doesn't matters which sworddude you use, they are the same.
fucking ridiculous and that's wy i refused to buy it for switch and instead i pirated on my 3ds

New FE fans don't give a shit about the series, people just want to jack off to waifus. This is why there was such a huge deal when it was revealed Lyn was wearing spats. This is also why Echoes sold like shit, no dating sim elements.
FE is alive because of waifus and Smash promotion, if it tries anything else it'll be another shitshow like FEW because there are people who care about the series as a whole, but they're a terrible minority to the people who just wanna jack it to big sis tiddy monster's tits. But hey, at least there's the gacha game :^)

Bad roster and marketing. Other than that it's a superior game to HW on a gameplay level, it's just no one gives a fuck when it comes to Mosuo games when it comes to that shit and everyone just wants to see their favorite character in action, but since there's so many FE fuckers that's borderline impossible. Best we we're ever gonna get is lords and plot important characters, but only being the most modern FE games plus some popularity table scraps in the wake of Heroes left sour tastes in everyone's mouths. OCs are also shit and objectively worse than any other FE OCs like cipher or Heroee and significantly worse than HW's OCs. have them in the middle of almost every advertisment was a mistake

As someone who picked this game up, the roster is a big negative for me.
That and the maps.

Considering how small the roster was, it wouldn't have hurt to make each character a unique moveset or balance it out a bit more.
The heavy focus on sword users made assembling teams for maps pretty similar as far as non-sword users. For axe you were either Cam or Fred, and for spear is was whichever pegasus knight you liked best. Endgame sword choices ended up being either Ryoma or Lyn.

After the Fates DLC, I started using Azura more because of how unique her moveset was, but the entire roster feels very limiting, especially since I think Tharja is not going to be unique and will be another mage clone.

At least Hyrule Warriors is getting a re-release. That'll lessen the sting of DW9 being a disappointment.

The roster would be fine if every other character wasn't an exact clone of the previous one.

I enjoyed the game but kinda annoyed with the DLC stuff, the gameplay wasn't that bad but fucking god, those graphics, I swear I was playing a fuckin ps2 game

Because according to KT, there are only four FE games.

A focus on just three games worked well for Hyrule Warriors

Lyn and Celica are in it. Postgame only, though.
