The cake on the right looks nice, and probably has some decent taste to it, but it's dressed up really heavy with icing. I've tried many cakes like it, and most of the time the excess frosting is there to hide a burnt cake underneath that lacks flavor. Not that I'll judge it before tasting it, but I have prior experience to it.

The cake on the left is simpler. Obviously less fancy and less frosting, but there's more potential for the cake itself to be flavorful.

I remember someone comparing this to AM2R and Samus Returns. SR is the cake on the right, and AM2R is the cake on the left. Obviously the fangame has less flare and fancy bells and whistles, but it's an enjoyable product nonetheless. That's just me though.
