Was 13 really that bad?
Was 13 really that bad?
I didn't absolutely hate it but it was certainly incredibly flawed.
yeah it was before you got to grand pulse, i feel like the game was alright past that point
Yes, though I'm apparently an elitist cunt simply for disliking them all after IV.
yes
Yes at best it is extremely boring at worst until Gran Pulse like 25-ish hours in and even then it's desperately trying to claw its way into mediocrity. And even the Gran Pulse argument kinda sucks as the it's not that big and there's not a lot to do but do side quests which are just go here and kill that. Maybe if the story wasn't complete ass or if any of the characters were likable but this just ain't the case.
>le gran pulse meme
Implying gran pulse wasn't easily the most boring part of the game. It's just a small grinding field with nothing else on it.
>Almost entire cast is unlikable
>They do really stupid things constantly
>Overall plot is weak, confusing
>Ending is "the power of friendship" bullshit
>Apparently all the people who died before just didn't care enough or have enough friends
>Boss gets his ass kicked repeatedly to the point he's almost Seymour-tier
>Linear pathway for 50% of the game
>>Linear pathway for 50% of the game
Even once you get to Gran Pulse it's still linear, sure Gran Pulse is "big" but there's only one way in and one way out and the rest of the game outside Gran Pulse is just corridors.
Fang, Vanille, Hope's mom, and kinda sorta Lightning were all cute.
I think it's most important flaw is that they didn't know who they were making the game for. You'll be disappointed whether you want a linear story-heavy rpg or a more open one.
The first time I played it, I tossed it aside for being too much of a straight line. The second time, the story clicked with me a bit and I was kind of into it until I got to Gran Pulse and all that stopped.
I agree about Gran Pulse, while the level design becomes a lot more open the story pretty much stops dead in its tracks.
I also hate how little the game seems to care about the side characters in general. Cocoon is going to absolute shit while they're on Gran Pulse but the game never shows it during that time, we learn about it second-hand from Space Pope. Now if there was a clear main character and everything was 100% from their perspective it would be fine, but the party was an ensemble cast. Lightning isn't even the most important character in XIII.
...
except for being the grindiest game i've ever played and the linearness, i liked it. didn't love it, but was alright
I usually don't like to jump on Sup Forums's hate bandwagon, but I hated everything in the game, from the shitty characters to the horrible pacing.
Probably the worst JRPG I've ever played.
Bad characters, bad game play, bad story, music's okay at best. It's just not good and the only reasons it survived for as long as it did are the Final Fantasy title and waifufags.
Nah. It was really fun. The "get everything" trophy was cancer because tracking that shit wasn't fun but the rest was solid
Because it's in the Final Fantasy series, yes it fucking is.
I don't want to hear bullshit about the characters or the gameplay or the world or Pulse. This is the same series as fucking Final Fantasies 4, 6, 7, and 9.
And then they think they can shit out some piece of shit, generic, uninspired anime bullshit that looks nice? Are you fucking kidding me?
Nothing in XIII is as memorable as anything in VI.
This, the game gets good once you unlock 3 party members in combat. Before that point it's an alright anime series.
Better than 15 at least
Dat Fang though
It was pretty bad back when it came out, but now not really, it's almost as if developers actively tried to demonstrate there are ways to make a game worse than FFXIII
Click on it, OP.
