I too remember playing with 3 friends exclusively for my first 20 or so hours

Usually I do well, but I remember one time I joined a game where I got kicked because threw a bile jar at a tank while it was on fire. These two dudes talked like I was getting arrested or it was a court hearing, and then vote kicked me out of the match.

Getting hit from far away with a Molotov, or even worse running into the flames when the survivors aren't nearby, are both absolutely retarded because the tank stays on fire until dead.

L4D2 has the worst community I've ever interacted with. I don't understand, I played it online after it was about a year old, maybe a little later.

There's a comp l4d2 community playing a modified version of the game on their own servers on their own rules. I'm not sure wether they're still playing tournaments, but they most certainly still play matches daily.

Only pills instead of medkits, because survivors would live through ANYTHING with 4+ medkits.
Fixed tankspawn + tank rotation on every map, disallowing unfair tank spawns (for example: One team gets a tank prior to the coaster on Dark Carnival, the other team gets a tank on the coaster)
Different point distribution, actually taking damage into consideration thus rewarding good play.

The skill ceiling for survivors is much higher than that for SI. When you play a lot of Versus, you gradually get better at both ; but Survivor play goes so much further.
Also, when we're playing pub we can handle any survivor team no matter how well they're equipped. I'm talking about GOOD players here, dumbhead.

L4D2 Versus pitches SURVIVORS against INFECTED. The teams are ASYMETRICAL. With a system like that, you can't just determine the winner by who's best ; which is the whole reason why in Versus every map is being played twice with reversed teams!

I can show you how:
>due to T2 weapons, survivors always survive each map
>due to this, distance points are irrelevant
>the winner is now decided by damage bonus
>on map 1, team A receives absolutely no damage, team B receives a single point of damage
>team A got 25 points lead
>on map 2, team A got absolutely destroyed and barely made it into the safe room, team B receives absolutely no damage
>team A got 25 points, team B got 25 points
Even though both teams played practically identical on map 1 and then on map 2 team B mopped the floor with team A, the points are EVEN.
