Can we discuss this game? I just got done playing through it for the second time (first was at release) and I can't believe how under the radar the game seemed to fly. It's a great game, with shortcomings yes, but still great. The art direction is amazing, graphically it's impressive, and gameplay-wise it's an improvement in every way over Human Revolution.
But it sold like shit, and essentially put the future of modern Deus Ex games in jeopardy, which is a shame. I really liked what they were trying to do with the story, but it was still too light on the conspiracy stuff that DX is known for honestly.
The main problem is that I feel like they cut the game short to work on the completely pointless Breach mode, which isn't even a bad game mode on its own, but is completely unnecessary to the game. The story itself is also somewhat anti-climatic, and I feel like the game should have had another hub, golem city should have been one, and there should have been at least one other "infiltrate Illuminati base" type mission. It just doesn't feel like enough of a game, despite my playthroughs taking 60+ hours to complete non-lethal / stealth, I was left unsatisfied overall with the ending and final missions, even though they were well done in terms of level design. Also NEEDED MORE NIGHT LEVELS.
That said, I love the new characters and direction the game took, Miller is a good character, as was the Psychiatrist Delara, both characters I feel could turn sympathetic towards Jensen and work with him to take down the Illuminati. Also, Aria is top QT. The worst part is now we're in limbo again, waiting for a sequel just like after HR, and it took five fucking years to get MD, and I feel like we're gonna wait even longer for a sequel to it than HR. Fuck, it just sucks because the game had SO MUCH potential to be great, if the story was fleshed out just a little more, with a few more hubs / levels it would be a 9/10 game and one of the best of 2016.
So, thoughts Sup Forums?

Malik deserved that dick

it sucks and you have bad taste
Julian Bell
Malik appears in an easter egg. She leaves a box of Cereal for Jensen with a toy of her VTOL inside.

I loved the level design. There were so many alternate ways you could reach and do objectives, so many hidden places you could get to, so many shit you could discover.
I remember somebody saying that Squeenix forced the devs to split the game up into two or three parts and forced them to shoe-horn in all the pay to progress faster bullshit.
The game's reception on release was still way worse than it really deserved.
Jacob James
I liked it but the story ended badly.

Loading time simulator and the final boss was complete fucking ass

Great, now explain why you think it's so bad in detail, otherwise your opinion is worthless.
I agree it was sequel bait, it was intended to create a new "trilogy" of games. I blame most of its failure on SE, not Eidos though, as it's clear SE meddled into the game to implement Breach in hopes it would generate micro-transaction revenue via loot boxes, which was obviously a huge failure because Breach is mediocre and pointless, and no one wanted to play it.
I think the game would have been perfect if Golem was a hub, or the game had another larger hub in Prague or something. Even though it was a "large" hub, you could still run from one end to the other in under a minute.
I agree, the level design is top notch, especially Golem city. The verticallity in the ARC section is insane, and there's so many routes to take and so much freedom for the player to take out the enemies as you want, and there's LOTS of enemies to fight in there. I agree though, it seems like SE wanted them to split the content to sell another game and it failed miserably.

I didn't think it was particularly bad, but DX never really has been a game for great boss fights, it's not that type of game honestly, bosses don't matter. It was better than any boss in HR though, even the DC. Loading times weren't that bad either though, at least not for me. Only the initial load when you boot up is bad.
I agree. Story felt like it was JUST starting to get good / interesting, and then boom it ends with a thud. London didn't even feel like the final level of the game.

fuck this game, this is now a due sex 1 thread
which is better: Revision or New Vision?
Ethan Hall
game has some top tier qts
John Thomas
Revision is great, I don't know why everyone hates it. I played through it and liked the added content. Yes, it's not the original experience but it stands on its own quite fine. I think some people are just purists and hate any changes whatsoever.

Golem was the coolest part of the game too, I just wish it was a hub like it should have been. Would have been cool if the final level of the game was in Golem as well, it made sense for it to be. Would have gotten to see all of the riots and shit that were happening in there.
Nicholas Thompson
Game is shit. The first Deus Ex is literally the only good Deus Ex.
