Lance's Garchomp is sweeping me in Prism.
...
lowkey, celadon city was probably the best place to live. maybe not the MOST comfy, but when you factor in the the type of pokemon there + the people its top tier
i wish the pokemon of today had these kind of dark undertones. even in a happy saccharine world of untold wonder people's beloved friends and pets die or are outright stated to be killed
dark undertones were replaced with sexual ones desu
I wonder if the Switch title will be as heavy on the cutscenes and the story as SM. I just want to go around fucking people up, I don't need this story shit
no this is the new era of pokemon. enjoy constantly stopping and starting and get in the bag nebby
>look at the train, going left to right with Gold in the second car from the head
>look at the bushes and fence, train going right to left with Gold in the car right before the caboose.
Holy fuck I never thought of the meaning of "pallet town", that is fucking awesome
Red & blue and Gold & Silver were made by Satoshi Tajiri and his vision. After he left beginning with ruby and sapphire we see the tone changes and things become more kiddy. I miss the comfy melancholy feel of the first 2 gens.
...
this is sad
The best Pokemon games are BW2. Only people who haven't played them disagree and that's a fact.

Nice argument.
i always felt like the unknown pokemon never got the attention they were ment to have, maybe this is why
Best game music remix ive heard since the jazz remix of the dark world i stumbled upon a few weeka ago
>tfw you'll never surf around late at night again
>tfw you'll pull up into a comfy town in the dark with only a few house lights illuminating your way
>tfw nurse joy will never tell you "You're up late!" again before listening to the comfy healing melody
where did the time go anons
Why are gen 2 and 4 so comfy?
youtu.be
youtu.be
youtu.be
ok wtf actually
FACT: Generations 2, 4 and 5 are the most comfy and also the BEST generations of Pokemon.
>mfw I used to play Silver outside at nights while contemplating the moon and a breeze of cold hair blowing
Don't do this to me nigger
they actually do, kind of. in xy there's this dude who dies after you let him borrow a pokemon, and in sm there's a lady who tells you a story about her husband who died in a car wreck, and a side quest about a bunch of old people and their expectations for the future. also some weird shit happens in the battle maison and tree.
Also why until HG/SS Giovannis fate was unresolved and Silvers backstory left to theories off the top of my head anyway. Does anyone know of anything else changed or left behind as a result of Satoshi Tajiri becoming executive producer post Gold and Silver?
C O M F Y
3>2>4>5>6>1
2>3=4>5>>>6
I'd place 1 above 5 and 6 but hey that's like just my opinion man
if i haven't played pokemon since ruby/sapphire and want to get into it again, which one should i get? no restrictions just whatever is the most enjoyable
platinum, hgss, bw and bw2
pick up where you left off
emerald>platinum>hgss>bw>bw2
stop there, quality takes a massive dip
The OFFICIAL generation ranking:
4 = 2 > 5 > 3 > 1 >>>>>>>> 6 >>>>>>>>> 7
Platinum is always a good mix of challenge and fun!
It also has the sped up lighthouse theme as a gym theme.
youtube.com
You have an entire BOARD for your furbait shit.
The BW games are probably the best balance between the Pokemon you remember and what the new stuff is like. It's got the 2D sprites and though it looks better, it's still a GBA game at it's core. But it also has a bigger focus on plot and characters like the newer games do. So I'd recommend it personally. But I think in general you'll be okay as long as you don't play Diamond or Pearl. If you really want to experience that gen it's better to play Platinum but even then it's often considered the weakest gen.
Has someone tried any of the gen 2 rom hacks?
I was wondering if I should try getting into pokemon pyrite.
...
thanks boiz
perfect opinion.
Gen 2>1>>>>>>>>everything else
Firered/Leafgreen were the best games in the series
I just got pic related and i am kinda enjoying it desu
what about omega ruby/alpha sapphire?
Enough gen wars, post your favourite pals.
what ABOUT oras?
>Two songs have a similar tone and rhythm
>"It's a ripoff!"
heck no
just go with emerald, it has more content and none of the gen 6 problems
Pretty bad remakes of my favorite gen. Safe skip imo.
i just heard about those, was wondering if there was a reason they were left out of recommendations
Link?
they are an abomination
I liked it.
it's just rs in 3d without the game corner
www.cpokemon.com/tipos
It's in the picture.
So that's why the direction changed so drastically. Thanks for nice tidbit
Me too not as good as the Originals but still good enough in their own rights
It's great, battle frontier autists can burn in hell.
Yeah same, even way better than S/M. And didn't make me drop it like S/M
Kanto is shit and ugl;y. I imagined it as a desert because it was that shit. Hoenn is too tropical, fuck the sea and everything in it.
Johto is where it be at. I guess Sinnoh is alright too.
replace primarina with oshawott for water
>play BW for the first time
>that one theme in the bridge that builds up as you talk to more people
>Opelucid City's theme that is different depending on what version you had
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
I don't recall any other times the series does this
>implying that's the only reason people hate it
>tfw went wild the first time I went to Johto as a kid
>will never get that feel again because if they did something similar it would be heavily advertised before the game comes out
Never finished X and didn't even bother with SuMo. The games are just too heavy on story for me now and lack nice things I loves previous games for, like proper exploration with optional pathways, secrets like Ruins of Alph and spatial puzzles.
Prism though scratched that itch just fine and I'm going to try Uranium later. Strange though that fanmade games catch the feel of older games better than official ones. There's also this Pokemon MMO called Pokemon Revolution Online that's been going strong for 3 years already. How did they avoid C'n'Ding is beyond me though.
The whole talking to people to add instruments to the music was always nice in Blacked and white.

You guys have your own board you know
But every new generation has a new region to travel in?
t. never played anything else
Genwunners and nostalgiacucks are NOT welcome
Do you emulate it on pc? I find it awkward to play on my desktop, and I dislike the large stretched out screen if I play on a modded wii.
Anyone else miss the smell of a cartage game fresh out of the box?
This please go back top your containment board

I'm playing crystal on my 3ds right now. its the first time I actually sat down and played a pokemon game seriously. I really like it so far about 5 and half hrs in, my two main pokemon right now are pidgeotto lvl 24 and quilava lvl 19. Its crazy but I never really got into the pokemon gameboy games as a kid despite watching the anime every Saturday morning, owning some pokemon cards and playing snap and stadium on n64. I guess 26 isn't too late to get into it eh?
it's sad at what it's become, but enjoy it while it lasts
>Its sad at what its become
True.. Pic related was the primetime of Pokemon
2>1>3>4
Gen 4 had some sweet music though
I tried getting into 5 recently but stopped playing shortly after the first gym. I just can't handle all these new abominations they call pokemon. Also there is an insane amount of handholding now.
Remember the pinnacle of Pokemon design? Back when Pokemon actually looked like Pokemon.. Now they're just ugly
...
Only big problem with crystal is the level curve, it's basically non-existent. You'll be facing lv 15 rocket grunts throughout the whole game.
sprites >>>>> 3d models
We didn't have 3d models until Gen 6 and yet the nostalgiashitters imply that everything after Gen 2 is trash.
The biggest difference between gen 2 and 3 imo was the grand underlying story and focus on it
Gen 1 and 2 felt like you were just a dude training pokemon trying to be the very best and shit and you just happen to foil the criminal plans of Team Rocket and they had completely mundane motivations iirc and you stumble onto a few legendaries and shit
In gen 3 they brought in the whole epic journey and apocalyptic shit with Kyogre and Groudon and the new villain teams
oh, now that you mention it things have been oddly easy, like almost un fun. One hit killing gym leaders and team rocket grunts just feels wrong.
Wow, they're all wrong except one.
>favorite ice type, sandslash
Ooops
I meant Kanto
>surfing
youtube.com
Best surfing theme gave us the best pokemon remix. prove me wrong
Having a story-heavy Pokemon wouldn't be a bad thing if the story was about you and other top tier rookies competing to be the best. All this saving the world shit and legendary Pokemon is some hot garbage, but a story about you and five Blues would actually be a lot of fun. The problem is they'll never actually do that.
>best remix
that's not this one, same gen though
youtube.com
Story should be built through indirect ways like the scenery and locations you visit, npcs you talk to and so on, not forced on you.
How fucking dense are you?
In his defense, it is a nip double meaning for same pronunciation joke. If they spelled it properly, it would be more obvious to kids.
Emulated it on my phone. The only problem I had was the dissynchronization of game's clock and real time.
Nah fuck sinnoh and all it’s snow
i still love crystal
A man of taste I see. I too like gen 2 the best.
this so much
kinda the same with World of Warcraft
english is not my native language
as a kid I barely knew a word of english and that's the time I used to play pokemon
