Any local arcades I had around here were long dead before a D&B showed up.
Went to that D&B last year, 70% of it is oversized mobile phone games now.
20% are the same old ticket spewing games like skeeball.
The other 10% are late 90s-00s railshooters and racing games, half of them are usually broken at any given time.
The noise in there is so fucking loud it causes hearing loss and severe headaches.

How does one popularize arcades by devoting most of the space to an """esports""" lounge and filling the arcade with oversized mobile games that plague Dave & Busters?

Had one of these right across from the movie theater, it was a pretty great place.
Of course, all of the fighting game cabinets were swarmed by blacks and asians while the rest of the place was mostly empty.

I went to an arcade in China. It was the dopest shit. Apparently they're in every mall there, had plenty of claw machines for losing money fast, some knockoff games to play, and an indoor archery range because why the fuck not

Barcades are actually bringing back the arcades. There are two that I go to during my offdays and play skeeball and Time Crisis before the normies show up with their friends.

Whenever I go to an arcade I have to wipe down the machines with these.

R1 has more variety especially with japanese games, D&B if you want mainly NA games and SPORTS (stay away from the restrooms).

also, when I was young and I was living outside America mainland I used to go to this mall with my paretns after school and the mall had a Time Out arcade. Shit was amazing, I would pass House of the Dead 2 with one dollar and they also had Crisis Zone. Come to think about it they did not have any fighting games. Another mall I would go had capcom vs snk 1 and there was this chinese kid whose mom would work at the nail salon. He would RAPE ANYONE who put a quarter to play with him. So one time he was playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 and I put the quarter in and played cable. I HYPER BEAM the shit out of his 3 character and he left the arcade!!! fucking little bitch

Consoles did nothing to arcades. Arcades faded from relevance as they ceased to be a better experience than a weaker home version of the same games. Once you got to the 5-6th generations of consoles, Arcade cabinets had no exclusive advantages, the home version was identical to the arcade version.

Fighting Games ceased to be the major draw, which is why most arcades in the mid 2000s ended up with a majority of railshooters, racing games and dance dance cabinets since those kinds of games maintained an advantage through unique peripherals for an ideal control experience.

Arcades died when they lost their tech advantage. It's no fault other than their own. They should have tried some online connectivity measures. Imagine crossplay between a cabinet and players at home.

Oh, if you thought you despised those, I suggest you see their restrooms. They are one of the worst restrooms you will ever see in your life. I'm not joking.

Barcades are the big thing now. There's one by me called Player 1 and you pay $5 cover and get to play as many games as you want. They actually have a lot of old arcade cabinets and current games set up by the bar like Smash and Mario Kart 8

Do you guys remember that game in D&B and maybe other premium arcades in the late 1990s or so. It was a rail shooter space sim and you could play with about 10 other people and sometimes they have a huge walk in game arcade thing?
