Harem-type stuff is actually really uncommon. Harem endings rare in romance games with multiple heroines and practically nonexistent in story games.
If you're averse to VNs where picking a heroine to romance is the only major choice you have to make (virtually all moege), there are still many VNs to choose from that focus on story.
