Why doesn't Sup Forums like JRPGs?
name 10 good JRPGs
Anime is for pedophiles.
F O E
F O E
Because it's a boring overdone genre that require s no skill to play.
I fucking hate deers
EO is the only one that I like to any significant degree, and it's really because of the claustrophobia and discovery of going through a maze. I've always enjoyed that and feels like it leaves alot to be explored, vs a game with an overhead map where you discover so much of the area in a single frame.
THE PALADIN IS DEAD
Because 90% users of this board are children with zero attention span.
I think as a child I was more willing to tolerate RPG gameplay with a lot of dialogue and grinding, but I've just grown out of it, I have nostalgia for stuff like FF but playing them makes me resent them. Action RPGs have spoiled me I guess, and I don't crap like Diablo or Baldurs Gate "action" RPG. I mean actual control over a character Action RPG.
>haha it's a cute deer
>oshit it just murdered the tank
I miss the older EO FOE display on the map, now that you see a full monster, it's less scary, but watching that big orange, red or even worse black ball was just so fucking scary, and seeing it moving around following you, EO sure as hell knows how to make you feel claustrophobic
Any 10 main Pokemon games. :^)
Maybe I've just played too many of them. Occasionally I run into one that manages to catch my interest, but for the most part it's just been there, done that. Last time I got excited for one was Endless Frontier, and even that was just because of the mad banter.
I do.
They're boring to me. The only reason to play them would be for the story, but as I age their childlike charm and glorious nippon cliches grow tiring.
RPG's in general are pretty boring, the most engaging type would be like Deus Ex or VTMB. But mashing menu buttons or waiting for your turn is boring as shit, only really has a place in actual tabletop roleplaying.
EVEN IN 2018 Sup Forums,
F O E
Grinding for 120 hours isn't content
EO is good, most JRPGs are shit. Weebshit is the worst
>FOE is over 12 years by old now
If you can't name at least 10 good JRPGs, it's just that the genre is not for you.
this is actually what people believe
shooting things all the time is boring, all you do is shoot. there, i can oversimplify too
It's barely 11 retard, the 10th anniversary just happened
U1 > 3 > 5 > U2 > 4 > 2 = 1
wtf i love eating shit now
What makes such a huge difference between U1 and 1 ?
I only played U1.
>hurr durr muh spoonfeeding
fug meant U1 = 3

1 is buggy and unbalanced
Agreed, the models are nice and all but there was an extra layer of fear to seeing a nondescript blob and wondering what the fuck it was.
Imagine having taste this bad.
amazing
>mother that high
>be me 3 years ago
>decide to play final fantasy 7 because faggots everywhere keep saying how good and sad it is
>download iso
>turn on the virtual ps1
>start the game
>fucking dialogue everywhere
>muh story

fuck this weeb shit. japanese cunts don't know how to make a FUN game.
What are some roleplaying games made by a japanese studio.
>boy hair
wow, high quality shitpost
>he plays JRPGs
>he doesn't roleplay
What is the point?
Jackie Chan

Not better than half the stuff in mid tier
>CC
>Lunar GBA version
>LoD
>KH
>Disgaea
>FFVIII
He said good jrpgs.
>Drakengard is bandwagoner tier
How. Literally no one knew about that game until NieR Automata.
It also bothers me Xenobalde is in bandwagon tier and Xenogears is nowhere but I can't argue for that one.
So much awful trash on this list. Look at all that Final Fantasy. GOLDEN FUCKING SUN is on there for Christ's sake, might as well just replace the handful of decent entries with Riviera: The Promised Land or something so it can be a "JRPGs to Avoid Like the Plague" list
i dunno if you're baiting but I genuinely disliked Golden Sun, no clue what's supposed to make it special
>Riviera
My African American
He was calling Riviera bad, friend.
What went wrong?
Are you high? Neptune is popular and I unironically like it.
>How. Literally no one knew about that game until NieR Automata.
Not him and not saying I agree on it being a bandwagon game, but that's kinda exactly how bandwagons work, dude. Something that previously wasn't given a shit about suddenly becomes popular for X reason and then everyone and their uncle is suddenly a fan.
All versions of LUCT (and KoL, and FFT) are middling srpgs.
I'm guessing it's that high for plot/cast and not gameplay. Just saying is all. The high TO rank and the lack of something as basic as Langrisser makes me assume you're not much of an srpg person.
Oh yeah, they also got rid of the stupid fucking diablo tier rare drops
WE BREAKIN THE CONDITIONNING
The only thing I disagree with here is that Shining Force should be God Tier.
I'll revise this shit later, but these are the series I've already played through/plan on playing through/plan on playing through to a certain point.
Ditching what was a beautiful pixelated art direction for that 3D poorly made trash excused as "art".
boring genre for kids and smoothbrained weebs
Why is literally everything in "Well Knowledged" just one step past a JRPGs 101 level course?
>Luminous Arc
>Rhapsody
I guess it doesn't necessarily mean good, though. Rhapsody is the srpg you turn to if you have a 9-year-old kid you want to get into srpgs.
2U>1U>3>4>5>1>2
I really disliked 5's race system, was irritating.
Persona should be in bandwagoner, not casual.
How many casuals are going to put up with a game where every random encounter has a chance of getting a game over because the enemies got to attack a fuckton of times first and spammed extra press turns until your MC is dead?
>persona
>press turns
>ambushes
EO is a dungeon crawler, though. And not even Square-Enix likes JRPGs anymore, look what they did to FFXV.
90% of everything is shit, including consumers of media, ie (You)
because they use Final Fantasy as the standard when, in fact, Final Fantasy is complete dogshit.
I wouldn't say literally everything, but a lot of it just seems to be "weird japanese obscure sounding thing" so that's why they put it in well knowledged
>EO is a dungeon crawler
Dungeon crawler is a subgenre of RPG
EO is a Japanese dungeon crawler
EO is a JRPG.
>Dark Souls
>JRPG
It is a bandwagon game but not a JRPG
you mean
>DS SQ
3>2>1
>3DS SQ
5>U2=4>U1>PQ
>japanese roleplaying game is not a JRPG
SE hates all their SNES era franchises despite every single one of them shitstomping Final Fantashit. It is especially adorable seeing drones try to praise garbage like FF3/6 so highly when it was already outdated by actual good games like Treasure of the Rudras, Chrono Trigger, and Dark Half.
>I wouldn't say literally everything
It is.
Not that there's anything wrong with that at all.
I just find the name of the category funny considering the content.
>It also bothers me Xenobalde is in bandwagon tier and Xenogears is nowhere but I can't argue for that one.
Xenogears is like earthbound in the sense that it's constantly namedropped by people who haven't played it but want to look like they play deep games.
Still one of the best JRPGs of all time
...
He said "series", not "just the one specific game that has its logo pictured." Half the series, the newer half, has a version of press turn, and those 3 games are definitely the bandwagoner ones.
And if you're saying tons of casuals are out there playing 1/IS/EP, I'm kinda skeptical, user.
Yeah, I suppose. Least Half Minute Hero is a bit of a unique beast.
remove trails and put in in a new category with neptunia and call it weeb trash
silly deer
For all its flaws, I enjoyed 1 more than U1. I didn't hate Grimoires nearly as much as other people, but they were still a bit annoying and the classes didn't feel like they were upgraded much over the originals. U1 Survivalist in particular felt like the worst class in the entire series. I vastly enjoyed the feeling of U2 more where you're an overpowered adventurer fighting even more overpowered enemies.
now do the same list without the shit games
The genre is 80s crpg. JRPG was never meant to be a genre, it's a shitty umbrella term that covers various ones
Turn based jrpgs are terrible. Basically just ripped off ultima and removed all the roleplaying elements to leave themselves with a crappy shonen story and banal turn based combat that's designed to waste your time.
>turn-based games on the same list as real-time games
>srpgs on the same list too
why call them all jrpgs when they have nothing important in common
>80s crpg
>for a 3/DS series
ebin
ebinobino
>Basically just ripped off ultima
Not just basically. DQ1 was just a mashup of elements fro Wizardry 1 and Ultima 1, babbyfied, and then released for a console.
Because at that time, Wizardry and Ultima were more popular and influential in Japan than in the West.
>worst class in the entire series
EO2 survivalists and beasts exist
Survivalist in U1 was still great
Because JRPG is not a genre, it's just a term for RPGs made in Japan.
The Survivalist in U1 sucked balls though. They had the exact same issue as the 2 ones where they did no fucking damage whatsoever. The only use mine had was being able to use Defender really quickly with Grimoires. The only class I might consider worse is the EO2 Landsknecht where they just sucked at everything.
Yep, there are some with passable stories/art direction, but ultimately they're just walking simulators with filler combat.
Because most of them are boring as hell.
>walking simulators with filler combat
So Planescape: Torment?
Riviera the Promised Land
Miitopia
Bravely Second
Tales of the Abyss
Pokemon BW
(Does MegaMan Battle Network count?)
Persona
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Golden Sun
Disgaea
>any of those
>good
If I wanted to stare at menus I'd go to a fucking restaurant.
>BW instead of B2W2
>persona instead of any SMT
If Tales counts then so does BN
