Genesis was like the original Playstation, normie games with marketing for normies.

Either was good, only rich kids really bragged about their consoles and usually only when they had the weird or expensive accessories.

Sega was always trying to be the home arcade, a pale imitation, Nintendo were the ones actually pushing for gaming to be more, its strange how Nintendo became like Sega and how Sony is now the ones trying make gaming better.

These two games (and Ecco the Dolphin) are good examples why I didn't tend to like the Genesis. YEah they were great looking games. I thought Comix Zone was especially good looking as a kid. But man, I thought all three of these games sucked. Vectorman was the best of them, but Jesus I hated Ecco and Comix Zone with a fucking passion. Even after hours of gametime they never ever got fun.

SEGA is and always will be a fad, the console had potential but it was purely marketing and normie games, you can see now that their flagship series sucks, it has always been bad, but the marketing was 10/10.

I have to confess it makes me genuinely angry when someone claims the Genesis was better than the SNES. Genesis had a few good games, but that's it, a few. The SNES had a whole truckload of masterpiece titles, I don't see how anybody could claim it's worse unless they're baiting or wrapped in fanboy nostalgia

Home consoles didn't reach parity with arcade games until the 6th generation, that's part of why arcades died in the west.

It may have been ahead of its time mechanically but man it was A) too hard for younger me, and B) a little boring. Like I said I always thought it looked great. I just never thought the actual game was that awesome.
