the obvious answer is to make DoA6, and make it for the launch of the PS5 / Xbox4 (whichever comes first). give it a good F2P version like DoA5 had and if you hit launch all the people will be desperate for something to play, so they'll try it. seeing as DoA is actually fun as hell a certain percentage of people will keep playing. then you put in a proper photo mode and DLC swimsuits and watch the DLC money roll in.

It has a bit of an identity crisis at this point. It tried to revamp itself as a more serious fighting game, but ended up going back to its old ways. Fighting gamers don't take it at all seriously. It makes its money from the waifu side via costumes and such, so much so that it is more profitable to just use the character models and put them in dating sims/the volleyball games.

However, if that is the route they want to go then it becomes awkward because people can just play games like Honey Select or an Illusion game. These games have better production values (which is honestly pretty sad), better visuals, and allow for way more customization. They are also significantly cheaper, and that is assuming you pay for it at all.

Since it is an actual reputable company (Koei Tecmo), they likely don't want to make a full blown hentai game like an Illusion one, but at the same time they can't market the games outside of Japan anymore unless they want to try to tone things down, which isn't in their best interest.

In other words the franchise should just die or stick to being gacha/F2P. It is the best way for them to make money.
