I think X/Y is better personally, but I haven't actually played B/W that is based on aesthetic. What makes B/W so good?

Gen 5 is what made me drop the franchise, and never pick it up again. Played all mainline games and most spinoffs, but when B/W came out those games disappointed me so much I kinda just stopped caring about pokemon all together.

After seeing Gen 6/7...I'm glad I stopped when I was ahead.

People bag on B/W's postgame, but I didn't find it that bad. There was a solid chunk of the region to still explore, with trainers and pokemon to scale. You're not some untouchable god.

The region lock and plot alone make this the best entry.

BW1 as a concept is neat, the execution is a solid half the roster being bootleg versions of other Pokemon down to levels that you learn moves and evolve.

Videogames are not for the story, despite early gen 5 games tried to make you believe pokemon from all places is not the place for it certainly.

Nothing that browse through a wiki or a yt video can't fix. B/W was shit because relied heavily on plot, B/W2 is a sequel, so that's the only real drawback if you skipped it.

Dude you have a full team against trainers with like 2/3 pokemon, usually monotype and sometimes they aren't even evolved, that plus exp scaling gets you up to the same levels in like 1 route. Even then, people complain that the games are easy all the time so a little bit of challenge is always welcome, more if is in the post game, where you have plenty of options to break the game anyway.

Agreed completely, and it really is a shame. The feeling of going through a foreign region with strictly all new monsters to discover for the first time in years was fucking magical. BW2 is fine (albeit the story is much worse and the mascot legendaries are putrid), but I thought the addition of old Pokes really pissed on what made Unova so awesome.

They were trying to get the nostalgia feel by making the new pokemon similar to the gen 1 and 2. Some were weird like iceshit or gargabe, but things like Gigalith, Excadrill, Krookodile, Galvantula, Eelektross, Chandelure, Haxorus, etc were great

You're damn right. Pokemon Emerald was my favorite next to Crystal and somehow OrAs dropped the ball completely. From the difficulty curve to skipping around parts of the map entirely, and for some reason the areas felt so plain and uninspired compared to the GBA dungeons despite the improved hardware. It's like the "new super mario" syndrome where everything is so clean with no attitude or personality.

I used to be the most diehard wifi battler on DS back in the day and used to write articles for the Smogon pokedex but I'm too old and the game is too shit now to bother. RIP pokemon.

In terms of stats, or looks? Looks Only snivy line and dewatt look decent, everything else looks stupid. Stats, Snivy is one of the worst grass starters you can get (at least bayleaf can learn healing and status moves), and as a one trick pony, it's the worse, hopping that whatever it's fighting doesn't one shot it before it buffs up, and then it still tickles because it lacks attacks except for leaf storm. The only other use for it is stat passer, which every eveeloution can do far better.

I played a good chunk of Diamond as a kid but never finished. Managed to snag a new copy of Platinum for $20 a few years back. Love the music and region, but its just too slow.
I got to victory road 2 years ago and lost all motivation. The music there is obnoxious and the area itself is really bland.

Regardless, I think the actual region is the best aside from all the HM shit. Love the structure of Sinnoh and Hoenn, too bad they decided to go so linear for gen 5+.

SPlayer they were good to have until the end, unlike later gens you would change them for something else, except Greninja.
